  1. My wife makes fun of me for shoveling and snowblowing the driveway wearing Crocs... As mentioned, a new pair of socks fixes just about everything nature has thrown at them so far.
  2. Zero excursions at ISP for our June 19th sailing.
  3. Yup, we're on the same date/cruise and that was the only excursion I wanted to do and the only port I really wanted to see. Had we known this in January, we would have rescheduled for dates where Skagway wasn't omitted. But now we have flights booked and dates
  4. Are they available now on Quantum? We're traveling with two kids and a special needs adult in a couple weeks. I see 125Mhz bands available for sale on Amazon, but would rather get them onboard if it's an option.
  5. My only wish for a Galveston cruise is to be able to skip Cozumel entirely without it being a 10+ day adventure....
  6. Depends. We've been let in more than an hour early, but there also wasn't a serious line. As long as the hall isn't overloaded, your chances are good that you'll be allowed to pass.
  7. And yet, people get picked up and dropped off by Uber from just about every sailing... My experience has been consistently that nobody is paying attention who is driving up. The app won't allow you to select the port as an address, but talking with the driver usually fixes that.
  8. My experience as well. The app won't allow you to select the port for pick-up or drop-off, but if you have contact with the driver before the pick-up, they'll try accommodate you.
  9. Yeah, not sure why people think Galveston is chaotic compared to what we've gone thru in other ports. If I never leave from Miami again, I'm good with that. I'll pick Galveston over any of the Florida ports.
  10. Anyone who thinks that vaping leaves no trace needs to get in my nephew's car. He loves those fruity scented high VG vapes, and you can smell it outside the car with the windows closed... Oh, and it's not water vapor. It's propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine being burned, and the VG definitely leaves an oily residue that can't be easily removed from drapes and room linens. That's why it's banned in staterooms.
  11. Four plus bags from IAH to the port and back in an Escalade was comfortable. 5 was doable, 6-7 might be tight with luggage. Info@limochampion.com is who I use in Houston. Email Gino and ask.
  12. Had one last year out of Cozumel and the crew put us on full speed to Galveston over 15 hours early. Spent our last night tied up at the docks. Nobody allowed off early.
  13. Our daughter is disabled, so we purchased trays we use onboard that fit perfectly in our rollerbags. In transit they're extra protection for my laptop and wine bottles, and used at home occasionally for crafts or grandkids.
  14. They should. You would need to consume it onboard. Bringing it back into the country would require declaring it to Agriculture.
  15. There is an Enterprise car rental office but they're only open weekday office hours and Saturday mornings. They'll pick you up and drop off at a hotel if you arrange in advance.
  16. 36 years. You can't avoid data entry errors, especially when you have customers doing their own bookings. From that experience, being in IT for decades doesn't mean you actually understand customer behavior or how software works. I know server Engineers who can't operate an iPhone.
  17. If you have a large group, you might want to just schedule a limo vs. taking the cruise line's shuttle. We paid $250 for a SUV vs. the $90 per person they wanted. Even with tip, it was cheaper.
  18. Many people staying in Texas City have reported no problem finding a cab or rideshare to the port.
  19. Yeah, I'm not sure how exclusive that Lyft deal can really be if there's nobody policing the entry to the lot. We were just waved in.
  20. It was posted here last year that Uber had finally agreed to pay the port access fee... did that change again?
  21. Yeah, I'd take it with a grain of salt. My impression of Celebrity is they cater more to couples who are used to full service and not particularly interested in the Golden Corral for dinner... I don't think they can risk that type of a cutback on Royal. I don't know that the dining rooms can successfully handle 100% occupancy.
