  1. And if you look at the current menu, even if you use your FAS perk, there is now a $25.00 upcharge involved.
  2. The OP was inquiring about a tier one cruise line (NCL) and their lobster status. Commenting about other tier one lines such as RCI, Carnival or MSC would be relevant. Bringing up what is available on a tier three line such as Oceania is an apples to oranges comparison. You get what you pay for and you do pay more for the opportunity to enjoy all of your lobster choices on Oceania.
  3. Fully agree. After 35+ cruises in the Caribbean, we sail for the ship these days. Would love it if cruises to nowhere were a thing with the port tax savings. Currently have a dozen cruises booked on new builds Prima, Celebration, Beyond and Wonder OTS.
  4. I would have a conversation with the manager on duty before you get seated to make sure they know your preferences as to how you like your meat prepared. This would include of course lamb chops. If I was told that they could not be prepared how I wanted, I would be a very unhappy camper. I went once on the Escape years ago and the meat was a perfect rare to medium rare and the grilled caramelized pineapple 🍍 was outstanding.
  5. Really 5 port and 8 sea days. A 14 day cruise is really only 13 full days taking into account embarkation and disembarkation days. The new cruise is now almost similar to a transatlantic and the cruisers are getting 300 for the "inconvenience" of losing 2 ports.
  6. And during those four straight sea days you have 300 in OBC to pamper yourself with. Many times when ports get changed or cancelled you get squat. Consider yourself lucky to get 300 in OBC.
  7. Thanks so much. Really looking forward to multiple dinners at Onda on our 11 days on the Prima as well as our sailing on the Encore in January. The veal Milanese, fingerling potatoes and carrots look amazing.
  8. The only reason Carnival has more is because Carnival has more ships. I believe they are available in 100% of the Princess fleet, but the new Excel Class ships on Carnival only have ironing rooms and the Luminosa which just came into their fleet from Costa doesn't have one either.
  9. Did 12 days on the Apex in January and 12 on the Oasis in June. Had a great time on both cruises even though we passed on the alcohol package on the Oasis because of RCI's dynamic pricing policy that made it cost prohibitive.
  10. Old ship...cash in hand. New ship...25 in slot credit or chips
  11. Seaday brunch is technically seaday breakfast since they now stop at 1159 am instead of 1:00 pm.
  12. Cruisers like yourself that have blinders on are what the bean counters and stock holders like.
  13. Since this topic is on the NCL thread, obviously the majority of posters are going to be defending NCL's policies and procedures since that's where their loyalties are and they will defend the decisions made by the bean counters of their cruise line of choice. This same exact scenario would happen on the RCI boards or MSC or Carnival. There will be a minority of posters that have multiple cruises on various lines that can give their unbiased opinion as to why this line is better than that line because of a particular aspect. Those who have blinders on don't have this first hand knowledge of the various lines. You also can't write off an entire line because of one bad experience but many people do. There are variances from line to line and also from ship to ship within each line. You can't assume that the experience is going to be the same on a new ship versus one that is 25 years old, and this goes for all of the mass market lines.
  14. Since you love the Waterfront so much, you'll really enjoy Ocean Blvd on the Prima Class. It's over twice the size and goes 360° all the way around the ship, unlike the Waterfront, which is narrower and only covers about 2/3 of the ship.
  15. NCL is not all inclusive. Daily service charge, unlimited wifi and coffee and water in the drinks package are all items that are extra with NCL, but are included on Celebrity and Princess with their packages.
  16. Have also done various lines over the past 30 years. I would recommend you try one of the Prima Class ships, it should be a game changer for NCL similar to how the Excel Class has raised the bar for Carnival. Believed in this class so much we booked the Prima three times before March of 2023. Good luck with your decision.
  17. With regards to the pasta dishes at Onda. Are they considered as an app or an entree. Meaning if I order a pasta dish can I still get the veal chop or filet? Am looking forward to Onda on our upcoming Encore cruise and our three cruises on the Prima.
  18. The FAS now only provides 1 specialty dinner for up to 11 nights of cruising. In order to generate more monies, NCL offers you the opportunity to purchase an additional two dinners for about 35 pppd, or 140 for two people for two extra dinners. We currently have 4 bookings, on two of them we got 2 over 7 nights and the others were 4 over 11 and 1 over 7 on our most recent booking. We decided to buy the extra two dinners for the 140. Didn't want to eat 6 nights at the MDR with the same menu on our March Prima cruise.
  19. From what I have seen on YouTube, everything is delivered to your table. If you sit at a table in a general area, you can order from any of the venues during lunch or dinner. If you sit a a chair directly at the venue, you can only get food from that specific venue. At breakfast it's all grab n go with only a few hot items available, primarily cold items and bakery items. Everything is free except for Starbucks and Cocos.
  20. Why would families book European itineraries in February while the kids are in school?
  21. Every ship in the Carnival fleet does with the exceptions of the Excel Class and I believe the Luminosa which just came over from Costa, which means there are more Carnival ships with facilities than Princess ships.
  22. I believe that Mom2kmo was asking if Haven guests needed to make reservations for the shows in the showroom and if there was a designated roped off area similar to other ships in the fleet
  23. Depending upon which ship you're on will determine whether you get 25 in cash or 25 in slot credits/chips. It'll be credits or chips on one of the newer ships and cash if on one of the older ones.
