Hello,
I will be doing my online check in a couple weeks. I have searched some of the threads regarding it. I just wanted to verify a few things. I plan on checking in at midnight. I want to get on the ship early. One of the people in my party is my brother in law. What information do I have to have to check-in? Also, I read a thread or 2 that said, all you have to do is pick your time and then you can enter all of the other relevant information later. What does later mean?

Only you. If your wife got the exact same offer, she would get it as well. But if not, then the offer is only extended to you.
Ok thanks. That's what I thought but what confused me is it says this "This promotional offer is applicable for 1st/2nd guests only" but I think that is for the "room upgrade" only.

I booked an inside cabin on deck 7 on the Magic. Around 60 days out I received an upgrade offer in my to do list. It was $380 for a Cove Balcony. I declined it. I didn't want to be that low on the ship. I thought since I declined it I would get no further offers. They called me about 40 days out and out and offered me me a Lido Balcony for $350 and I took it.

Just fund your S&S account with a credit card, and then at some point before you check out - feed your gift cards into a kiosk or give them to guest services.
They don't actually bill until the end of the cruise so it would not matter when I entered them as long as it was prior to the end of the cruise, correct?

Thanks everyone I took it.

Hello,
I have a reservation under my name, which includes my brother in law. I was planning on checking in around midnight. Can I just put my credit card info in for him and then change it to his after we board? I didn't really want to ask him for his credit card info. I did this with NCL but changed his credit card info prior to boarding and it changed my boarding time to later, since I made a change.

I don't think there is. The app doesn't even work until you're on board anyway. Maybe they've added the feature recently, I don't know, but last I heard you gotta do it at the kiosk or at guest services.
thanks.. kiosk would work.. just hoping to avoid guest services lol.

If you're going to use this for your own cruise, just buy the gift cards and bring them on board. No need to purchase cruise cash. You can apply the gift cards with the kiosks by guest services to your account while on board, and if for some reason the kiosks aren't working, the guest service folks can do it.
thanks for that info. Is there no way to add them through the app?

Hello,
I am looking at buying some Carnival gift cards from AARP. I am reading the Carnival Website and it says for the Bar Cash "Cruise Cash Bar purchases limited to $500 per cabin" and for General Cruise Cash "Cruise Cash purchases limited to $500 per cabin". My plan was to purchase $500 worth of the Bar Cash for drinks and $500 of the General Cash for gratuities and Misc. Is that ok? or is it a total of $500 for both?

I have actually heard of people declining an offer and receiving a message from Carnival that they will receive no further offers. I don't know if this is standard procedure or not. I've never actually declined one, just ignored it.
This happened to me. I was offered a Cove balcony on deck 2 on the Magic for $400 more than my interior on deck 7. I declined it and as I was declining it, it said if you decline you will receive no further offers. I probably should have just let it expire.

There's 4 of us I was thinking Uber\Lyft.

Hello,
We are cruising on the Magic in August. Our departing flight leaves FLL at 1:20pm. I am wondering what is the quickest way to get off the ship(thinking self assist) and quickest method to get to FLL.

My wife and I just got off the Magic yesterday too. I will say, our last cruise prior to this cruise was on the Magic 12 years ago out of Galveston so i cant reference any other ship or experience.
I thought the interior of the ship looked good, our room was on the Spa Deck (12) and it was very nice and clean, nothing worn down or looked old and beat up. The Balcony Area was a tad rough with the white paint having some rust but that's being a little picky.
Other common interior areas were nice and clean and again not worn down.
The wifi on the Lido deck sucked for the most part during peak times, early in the morning it worked very well but once everyone started coming out for the day it slowed down to being non-useable...the access points on the Lido deck (4) are very old and probably cant handle that amount of users at one time. Wifi inside the ship work pretty well for the most part, I had the top tier and my wife had the base package.
Dining, we did not have an assigned time. You would check-in from the app and it would tell you approx waiting time, pretty accurate but not 100%. We would typically eat between 6:30 - 7:15, we knew we would have to wait so it wasnt a big deal, Elegant/Formal Night, the wait was longer for obvious reasons.
Lido Buffet was crowded, we only ate dinner there one night, couple of lunches and it was crowded, but thats to be expected. Guy's burgers were great, line went very fast even though it was long.
We hit the Red Frog Pub and the other bar next to it, had a great time. We did not see any shows on the ship, wasnt really interested in them.
The Crowd/other Passengers, everyone was just fine, no ruckus, fighting, yelling etc...very well mannered crowd. Kids were typical kids but nothing crazy or would make me question their parents on how they raised them, very well mannered.
Staff...all excellent, very nice, warm, not enough good things to say.
When we were at FLL yesterday checking our bags, we spoke to a family that just got off the Celebration, they were not impressed at all! Yes the ship is newer and pretty but they had 6,000 people on the ship, everything was crowded, not enough room for anyone doing anything!!
The exterior of the ship, had some rust which I feel that they need to cover/paint, it would make the ship look much better. We did see a Royal Car. ship in St Marten, it had a lot of rust so my expectations were tamed a little bit!
Overall, we really enjoyed our cruise, very relaxing, had a great time and would do it again. My wife would like to get on a newer ship to see some more of the "foo-foo"(sp) but after speaking to the family off the celebration, she may be changing her mind.
As for someones first cruise, i think they would have a great time.
Hope this helps!
JF
Thank you, this was extremely helpful.

Plenty of cruise ships sail out of Lauderdale, but not Carnival.
I would much rather sail out of Miami than Canaveral if I'm flying, personally. But then again, if I were sailing Carnival out of either port I would only consider Mardi Gras or Celebration.
Yes I understand that plenty of cruise ships sail out of Lauderdale, somehow the discussion got turned into an airport discussion. I am good on airports was just wondering if anyone has sailed on the Magic recently.

Carnival doesn't sail from FLL currently, so I am not sure what OP is talking about here. Perhaps OP means they're flying into FLL? But what does that have to do with the Magic...lots of folks fly into FLL and sail out of MIA.
Yes, FLL is an airport. So I am flying into the FLL airport and sailing out of Miami. Correct no cruise ships sail out of the airport. I had originally booked the Vista but flights to MCO were not as good. So I switched at the last second to the Magic.

Hello,
I have a cruise booked on the Magic in August. It will be my first Carnival Cruise. I have done NCL, Princess and MSC and have enjoyed all of them. I am seeing lots of recent comments about the condition of the Magic and that it is in rough shape. Just wondering if anyone has been on lately and your thoughts. We are bringing a couple of people and it will be their first cruise, I would hate for them to be disappointed. I did a last minute switch from the Vista (recently renovated) to the Magic, same itinerary. The flights I found were cheaper going to FLL instead of MCO, but now I am concerned.

I am looking at booking an MSC cruise for early next year. I have narrowed it down to a similar itinerary on either the Seascape or Seaside. Prices are the same. I know the Seascape is newer but it is also quite a bit larger. It will be just me and my wife, we are in our late 50's. We sailed on the Meraviglia 2 years ago and liked it. We would prefer lesser crowds and kids if at all possible, so I was leaning towards Seaside since it is smaller, but the newness of the Seascape is also appealing, or am I just splitting hairs lol.

Hello,
I am looking at booking my first Carnival Cruise for February 2025. I have done 1 NCL last year and an MSC the year before. Both of those were Western Caribbean. They were both pretty good. I am trying to decide between the Easter Caribbean cruises below. 8 days on the Magic or 7 days on the Celebration. The prices are the same. We are a couple in our late 50's, prefer to not have a ton of kids but understand that may not be avoidable. We went to Nassau last year and have been to St. Thomas and St. Maarten but that was more than 20 years ago.

I don't think this is just affecting the cruise industry. My wife and I enjoy going out to eat regularly. Almost every restaurant we have gone to the prices are way up and the quality is way down. It is very noticeable. Almost to the point where we may stop going out. Also some of the grocery products the quality is down.

Hi All,
I'll be taking my first NCL cruise on the Breakaway on 2/18/2024. I see a lot of reviews saying that it is very difficult if not impossible to get into many shows and venues even in the main atrium. I was wondering if there are any tips or tricks you could share or shows and venues I should not miss. I have already reserved Burn the Floor, but I am not able to reserve any other shows.

Just wondering what everyone brings on excursions. I would like to bring the least amount of things as possible. Was thinking cruise card, cash, credit card and phone. Do I need to bring my license or passport? I would prefer not to.

We don't wait until we board the ship to start our vacation. Our vacation starts the day before we board when we leave for the port.
Yeah we are flying in a day early to enjoy NOLA.
