  1. Hello all - We dock at 7am and our flight home is not until 11pm at night, so we are looking at a tour (private or smallish) to give us a tour of Hong Kong, then take us to the airport - with our suitcases in the trunk.    any recommendations please?

  2. Good morning all - Our flight lands at 0600hrs in Papeete on a Friday, we can't get into our accommodation until 4pm, then our cruise starts the next day.   Can someone recommend a tour, which will pick us up at the airport, together with our luggage and take us for a half day tour of the Island??   Many thanks

  3. We too are on this Regent sailing and it is our first experience with Regent, as we are looking for a replacement for the wonderful Crystal Serenity.   Unfortunately, Regent Navigator is not it!!! Checkin took 2 hours, lady in front of us fainted... not impressed.

Have complained twice about the service in Compass Rose.  However our biggest bugbear is the vibration throughout the ship. Frankly, it's like being on a car ferry.

    Will be trying Seabourn next.....

Thanks for all the comments made in this thread. they have certainly put our minds at rest over any concerns we had regarding the Navigator. We are booked May 2023 Miami to Montreal and it will be our firs RSSC cruise as well as the smallest ship we have sailed on.

    Happy & safe sailing

Hello there Mick and Pauline - We are Sandy and Kevin from Bury St Edmunds and we are also on this sailing and also our first RSSC?      See you on board!!

  5. In March this year, we booked an Azamara Cruise around the Caribbean in November.  All the islands are in the Amber zone, so no problem.   However, I have just found out that Azamara/RCL's private island, Labadee is off Haiti, which is in the Red Category.      Therefore, I am having to cancel this wonderful 14 day cruise.    Just a warning to others.......

  6. Hello there - I am seriously considering booking Windstar next month Athens to Athens, so mostly Greek ports.  However, it does make a stop in Turkey which is currently on the red list.   Does anyone know it I do not leave the ship, can I continue on my cruise and not have to Hotel Quarantine on my return, as I did not visit Turkey?   Thank you.

Drydock was postponed due to covid outbreak in Singapore (no drydock workers). Scheduled to leave for Singapore on January 15, 2021 if there are no new delays because of covid.

I have 2 PG cruises scheduled for next year, both scheduled for after the drydock. Plane tickets purchased, hotel reservations made .. . hope for the best 😉

BTW ... I was on one of the last PG cruises this year and IMO she didn't look all that bad ... but yes I'm looking forward to a renovated PG for our 2021 cruises.

Hello there - that is great news about the refurb.  May I ask - have you sailed with PG before, as the cruises are a lot of money and it takes forever to get to Tahiti from the UK, so I want everything to be perfect.  However, I have read that the service is not that great, etc, etc.  We are used to Seabourn/Regent onboard service - surely with an ship this expensive, the service should be out of this world?

  8. Hello all - we are planning our Silver Wedding Anniversary onboard PG next Sept (2021) - just wondered whether it actually went into Dry Dock this year for its major refurb?    If not, not sure if I want to book, as some reviews are stating that its looking tired, etc.

    Thanks

    Sandy

  9. My apologies for the lack of response.       I spoke to my TA just before the balance was due and she explained that I can actually cancel up to 48 hours before cruising and then receive a credit.  However, if the cruise is cancelled by Celebrity then I would get a full cash refund, so we decided we had nothing to lose, so paid the balance and fingers crossed, the cruise will be cancelled on 17 January, as we really don't want to be cruising currently.

  10. Hello all- this is my Celebrity Dilemma...

Hubby and I love cruising, but we feel that in the future we will just cruise on the much smaller ships, ie Azamara, Seabourn, etc, etc.   However, we have a Celebrity Equinox 12 day Caribbean cruise on 17 January 2021, furthermore, this cruise was transferred (at our request) from a November cruise last year which we had already paid for, but not taken, so those monies were transferred over to our 17 January 2021 Equinox cruise as the deposit.   So currently Celebrity have $2334 as a deposit for our Equinox cruise and the balance of $3617 is due on 23 October.

We have been offered a Lift and Shift, etc, but even the smallest of the Celebrity ships are 2000 pax, which we really do not want, so don't want a credit.    So the dilemma is  - do we pay the full amount on 23 October and hope that Celebrity cancel the 17 January sailing and then they will have to legally refund our money.

Interestingly, I went onto the Celebrity website yesterday and the same cruise, ie 17 January now costs $4000 more, yes $4000 more that I am paying.  So, the question is, is Celebrity trying to deter folks from booking this sailing??  Furthermore, my TA is phoning me almost every day, asking whether I want to Lift and Shift, etc, almost desperate for me to move my booking.  Furthermore still, I note today that Seabourn and Azamara have now stated that they will now not be sailing until April 2021 and these are the smaller ships!!!

So these actions are making me believe that Celebrity Equinox will not be sailing on 17 January, so do I pay my money and hopefully, get a refund if they don't.

One last thought - what happens if some of the Caribbean islands, now do not allow the larger ships to dock, even when they do start up cruising - can you get a refund then, if the itinerary changes significantly??

Sorry about the long post - but I really don't know what to do.....

    Many thanks in advance.

You pay significantly less for a guarantee.   It makes sense to assign you to a V 1 cabin to keep the higher cabins open to those passengers willing to pay for them.    If you don’t like Seabourn’s treatment maybe you should cancel and try another line.

I agree with you entirely about the GTY category.  But the spirit on this category, I assumed, was that they have every right to put me in the worst cabin, if the sailing was full and I would get this allocated 7 days beforehand - I would totally understand.  My complaint is that my cabin was allocated in April, 7 months before sailing, so if the ship is only half full (for example) would I still be in the worst cabin - so why allocate now, why not allocate 7 days before????

  12. Hello all - this is the first time I have booked with Seabourn, its the most expensive cruise we have booked, to date, but so far have been truly disappointed with them.    Firstly, they have already allocated me the worst cabin on the ship (although I did book at GTY category, but on other ships, the cabin is not allocated until the last minute, which I quite understand).

Also, Seabourn are offering free wifi, some OBC and £400 air credit per guest.   We are flying into Miami from London (return) using our BA Airmiles, so will not be using the air credit, BUT, our cruise leaves Miami, but then arrives in San Juan, so I have to get AA flights from San Juan back to Miami, but apparently and quite conveniently, Seabourn are saying that the £400 air credit only applies to flights to and from the UK?????  The internal flights are only £189 each, so we are not asking for the full amount.

Does anyone know where I can find the terms and conditions of this Air Credit, so I can check.

Like I say, soooo disappointed with Seabourn, so far...

  13. Hello - I have just booked the Sojourn for 16 November 2020 and this is my first time with Seabourn, so would welcome a $400 OBC referral thingy.  I am from the UK, so does it have to be a UK referral?

Not too happy with Seabourn though at present, as I booked a GTY cabin and 7 months before sailing my cabin has been allocated, the worst verandah cabin on the ship, close to anchor, etc.    Strange, as I thought the cabins don't generally get allocated until a few weeks before sailing?

  14. Hello all - I have sailed with many cruise lines, but this is the first time with Seabourn.   Generally, we book at Guarantee cabin and generally strike lucky and get a good cabin, but the cabin numbers aren't generally allocated until a couple of weeks before sailing.      So, I booked on the Seabourn Sojourn for 16 November sailing a couple of weeks ago on a GTY VOB, a verandah cabin and today was told that my cabin has already been allocated, ie Cabin 506, which I would say is the worst on the ship, ie a very small balcony.    Now, of course, I understand I take the risk when booking a guarantee cabin, but my TA  told me that the sailing was only half full.   So, I just wondered whether this was usual practice for Seabourn to allocate cabins so early, or have they simply allocated the cabin I have paid for, then perhaps will change it again nearer to the sailing?????    Thanks

  15. Hello - we are on a 12 night cruise on the Summit later this month and I really do want access to the internet during this time, but the charges are really expensive.  The current deal is $269 for one device - if I prebook this package, minus my 25% discount as a Select member - its still $201.   My question is:  Is it really 10% cheaper if I pre-book, or will there be other deals once I board the ship?   Also, I did read somewhere that they also discount internet packages half way through the cruise, but not sure if I can cope with keep popping off the ship to find a bar with wifi at every port a few times a day???

    Thanks

    Sandy

  16. Hello all - we find ourselves with 5 spare days on 26 March, so thought we would get some winter sunshine on a cruise from FLA. We have a choice of 2 cruises on that day and we don't mind either itinerary. The problem is I believe this is Spring Break time and also US and UK schools are out, so I am looking for the ship with the least amount of kids aboard.

Should I choose Brilliance of the Seas (2,500pax) or Independence of the Seas (4,500 pax)? Obviously the Independence is larger and has more kids activities, but would this mean that you wouldn't see kids all day, as opposed to the smaller ship, Brilliance.

    Need advice please.

    Thanks

    Sandy

  17. Hi Sandy-

Thank you for the invite. Can you tell me what the cost would be? I have a quote from another company with later pick up in the AM and return at 9PM which would include dinner in KL. Ship doesn't leave until 10.

The tour company are charging us 440RM for the two of us.

  18. Enjoy Singapore. We really enjoyed the gardens around Marina Bay, the observation deck at Marina Bay Sands, the Botanical Gardens (particularly the Orchids) and little Arab Street. You can easily get around on the MRT and walk around points of interest then jump back on the MRT.

Taxis are also cheap and available except when it rains or on a Friday afternoon.

One last question please, at which port in Phuket does the ship dock, as I'm trying to organise a private tour and need to inform the tour company.

    Thanks

  19. New to Cruise Critic so I hope I'm doing this correctly...

Sailing on Star Pride Feb. 28 Singapore round trip. Interested in touring Kuala Lumpur in small group with guide. Ship excursions do not appeal. Anyone interested or know how to arrange?

Leaving Feb. 24 for 3 nights in Singapore. Can't wait!

Hi Joan and Mark - we have booked a private tour with a company called We Go With Anuar http://www.wegowithanuar.com. The company was recommended by cruise critic members. He offers a "Shore Excursion for Cruise Passengers" which is 8.30 - 4.30pm and covers the highlights of KL. The trip is currently hubby and I, but you are most welcome to join us.

  21. Disney Girl, here is another alternative....

Go on one of the ship bus tours, get to the airport at 3pm.....leave your baggage at the "Left Luggage" facility...about $5 an hour....get on a train (under the airport) and head off back to town for a meal. Come back to the airport when ready and pick up your bags.

Excellent idea Vozzie - many thanks, will try that....
