  1. Thank you for the insightful topic. I started filling out the form in my head as a mind exercise. How many defunct businesses (4) and dead supervisors (2) will they overlook
  2. Lol. That is epic level, Geoff Marshall navigation
  3. If you have google maps on your phone you should be able to easily find your walking route from. Earls Court station to your hotel
  4. Flew out this morning. North end of the shuttle and van driveway is shut off and under construction. Some of the stops have moved, but the stop for Alaska and Delta appear to be the same. The busier stops further along the drive are still open and busy. I could not see out to the arrivals passenger driveway. The departure driveway was backed wayyyyyyy up at 430am. Not sure why those folks don't use the arrrivals driveway.
  5. Agree. I flew Emerates Seattle to Johannesburg then onward to George SA. 35 hours door to door. Emerates knows how to make a long haul endurable. Right now sitting in Detroit on way to Columbus Ohio. I always grumble that I can get to LHR faster , from Seattle , than anyplace in the US, east of the Mississippi river. I think the LHR to Madrid then non stop is a wonderful choice
  6. In my experience it is often sweet. Occasionally a non- sauced one is a touch spicy. I think it is so much like many things, people have their favorite. Probably based on how their Grandparents liked it. I have also seen it made with mustard bases sauce
  7. Saturday is not likely to be busy on the bus for this route. You and your bag should be fine
  8. That is a good thing then, good that you checked in with them.. I have a flight out tomorrow. Every month it seems there is something new. KIRO radio stays on top of the big infrastructure info on their morning radio show ( traffic) so you can have a listen.
  9. your requirements for location etc drives the price out of your range without compromises. It is not likely you are going to find anything in the core that is modern enough to have an elevator in your price range. You might be able to find a small private hotel or B&B that has a ground floor (not first floor) room. Most places I have been have the ground floor given over to reception and social area. Sometimes a small coffee bar or breakfast eating area. because so many small hotels and B&B are in historic buildings, you are not going to find elevators nor spacious rooms. Though as a cruiser, you probably can cope with small rooms. by booking early you may be able to find someplace with a ground floor room At over a year out, it is hard to find accurate price quotes. In fact some hotels will not book that far out. Plus you are quoting for the middle of peak tourist season. The Holiday Inn Express at Sloterdijk Station might be a compromise. Removed from the center but at a location with easy access to the Metro and Trams.
  10. it feel like the renovations ( which are extensive) have been going on for quite some time. The arrivals level roadway where shuttles arrive have felt very crowded recently, they are, over all, always crowded. The airport has become so amazingly busy. Cruise port days it is very noticeable. If the hotels says they are shutting down their service , or perhaps cutting back, then you may wish to reconsider your arrangements. While I hate a long journey on a late arrival, taking the Light Rail downtown ( westlake station) and having a room there may make your life a little bit easier for 30 minutes bother. All the major hotel chains represented. I regularly have to wait for the parking garage shuttle and some days it is easily over 10 minutes. Unfortunately waking out of the airport is not the most clear cut of options. I am not really sure how to do it, I have never looked for the route. I suspect you would have to walk out to the Light Rail platform and take the elevator down
  11. crab cake and avocado sandwich is the devils work. That and a slice of success cake and I swear my doctor would reach out and yank me home for rehab. Ha ha ha what she does not know.
  12. From there it would be .3 mile walk. Lots of moving parts
  13. Thunderbird Fried Chicken just along from the Earls Court tube station. My wings were fresh and perfectly done, big and crisp and super juicy inside there are a lot of interesting places along this road and in this area. I see Kungfu on Ealrs Court and Nevern Pl had hand pulled noodles and a lot of different treatments. If they are inclined to spicy chinese this might also be a good place to discover. It is on my calendar for next January when I am back for Northern Lights
  14. THANKS! I have never had a Ceylon green. I usually have Sencha or or Genmaicha
  15. Have fun exploring, the last thing I would do is choose a hotel lounge. Fine for late night drink and snax, but there are so many options in the neighborhood.
  16. Uber / Lyft or taxi would be best. Using the Lite Rail would involve finding transport again from the core to the hotel, which is a little further north. I am a Lyft gal myself, but you get the picture.
  17. totally agree that the castle would be a good use of time, along with lunch or tea at a local place. If the weather was fine and I was feeling well, I would walk the costal path to the south foreland lighthouse as well. If it is April or early May and you are a wildflower fan, Samphire Hoe has exceptional wild orchids.
  18. most hotels will hold your bag for when you early check in. Go to your hotel check in and leave your bags , and then go out for lunch and explore. Stay uptown away from the station for better access to the sties you wish to see. There are many of the name brand hotels to choose from and also many smaller boutique type places. YOu can catch the link lite rail to several stops in the core, or take a quick Uber /Lyft . There is a flat rate from Yellow cab to the airport from downtown hotel core. That is as handy as anything and you can book ahead. See their web site. I am a Lyft gal myself and Uber / Lyft are not really much different from a taxi and all are best for door to door. They should be quite plentiful. I dont know what you might mean about "easier" The light rail is fine and the nice thing about it is after it gets out of the local neighborhoods it is immune from the traffic as it is elevated and off the public road. It is your most economical choice, but it is a walk from the platform to the departure desks. a car service will land you slightly closer. you can choose a hotel close to one of the Link stations if that helps
  19. I am surprised they do not offer a single green tea. I know that is not traditional, but sometime I cannot tolerate black teas. I am happy with the selection and might be inclined to try the Mandarin, which sounds a bit like some afternoon teas which have a touch of lemon or other citrus.
  20. Totally agree. I would self tour Iceland myself. So much better access to what you wish to see
  21. Change to the Jubilee line at Green Park
  22. for sky explorers I recommend the very excellent Stellarium app
  23. the greenhouse was a wonderful surprise. I loved the little bumblebees
  24. I am doing northern lights in January and am particularly excited to be back in London. I discovered a fantastic hole in the wall wings place and eager to visit them again.
