There are amazing prices across the board on those new itineraries. Especially in Europe.

My only disappointment with the new itineraries is they did not add any longer Caribbean itineraries when we only have one ship in Miami. I was really hoping to see a few 7, 10's and maybe even one 14 day itinerary sprinkled in there to mix it up with the 5's and 4s. Just literally repeating the same 5 and 4 over and over with the one ship does get old. Especially when you don't have that 4 month Brilliant Lady option in San Juan for the Southern Caribbean option in 2024.

Agreed.... we waited until we could review the new sailing in the Caribbean before we committed to our change. Disappointed to see the short itineraries in the Caribbean. We have to fly to our sailings so we try to do 7+ days only to make it worth it.

  2. I called today and now have the New Zealand to Australia on hold. The rep I spoke to said initially it would show as a hold and then they have a team of people working hard to move over the price, confirm the booking, add our old bar tab and loot, etc. My on-line account already has a room number so I am hopeful it all works out. My travel agent had too many bookings and asked us all to handle the changes if we were comfortable. I will be having her handle any issues we might run into if things are not confirmed by Friday.

Excited to go from a 7 night Caribbean to a 12 night to places I have yet to travel too for the same price.... with the exception of the airfare.

Next to call our insurance to see if they will port over the policy or not.

I never found pasta on any Carnival cruise I've been on, other than mac n cheese on the kids MDR menu (which is AMAZING, and I always order for myself lol).  It's been my only food complaint bc I love pasta!  Most kids don't eat vegetables, and the ones they do, are not available.  I sometimes struggle to find veggies that I like because the ones offered are always a little too fancy for my palate.  My picky 11-year old will eat french fries and bread n butter all day long if I let her, but I won't.

I didn't know they had grilled cheese in the deli; that is promising!

It didn't sound like the OP's kids went hungry, just that they were disappointed and maybe had the munchies a few times with nothing they wanted.

Many of the ships have a pasta bar and even more have the paid Italian restaurant

Just checking in with everyone….it’s been about 4 years since we have been on a carnival ship.  We are currently on the Vista having a great time.  Just out of curiosity….normally we get a ship pin and some sort of trinket gift for being platinum.  Has that officially stopped now?  We haven’t received any as of yet so I am just asking to confirm.  Thanks

There is a QR code in the room to scan that provides all the information on where to get each item. Also you should have received an email 1-2 weeks before the cruise that has all the details.

  5. We are planning to take the water taxi to Oia then taking the shuttle to Fira. Getting back down to the dock vis the cable car will be dependent on the line 🙂  We are in port with RC largest ship and 3 other ships. With ours leaving at 5 and two of the others leaving at 6!

That's part of the reason I ended up not going on splendor despite how cheap it was. I don't want to be in an area with kids. Hell, even Disney has adults only areas and pools. It's clear to me though that CCL wants to now be more geared towards families than singles. I just don't want to be around children when I want to have a relaxing trip which includes sunbathing and hottubbing with adults.

We just got off the Splendor and the serenity is the whole back section with a pool and 2 hot tubs

  7. I don't think there is a remarkable difference on the number of kids on Carnival vs NCL.

Longer cruises tend to have less kids. Also consider booking a ship with a Havana area and book a Havana cabin. The Havana area is for 12+ only.

  8. Surprised to see people so pissed off that didn't get the offer.  We sail most lines but Carnival always ends up being our favorite.  We have been sailing them for over 10 years. My husband is platinum and I am 7 days from it. We both got the offer. We had 1 cruise cancelled in 2020 due to COVID and had not rebooked yet.  This is the FIRST offer we have received in the 10+ years with Carnival.  There have been plenty of other offers out there that others have received and we haven't. I consider it the luck of the draw. Out last Carnival cruise was 10/2019. Our friends also received the offer.  They have only been on one Carnival cruise. There does not seem to be rhyme or reason to who got it.

  9. We have a re-positioning cruise scheduled for April 19 on the Joy. Los Angeles (closed) to Vancouver BC (closed). NCL is still selling this cruise.  Sorry but they are holding onto money for cruises that are not going to happen and it is putting a bad taste in my mouth.  Between the customer service and the price increases we will be taking the refund once they actually cancel the cruise. NCL is not our first choice anyways so we don't want the FCC. We would consider booking them in the future for the right itinerary and right price.

  10. We are not loyal to any line (see signature)...... all have different pros and cons. We book based on ports, ship and price.   A lot of things people like on NCL are what we don't like about NCL.  Not a fan of freestyle dining and more specialty paid restaurants then free restaurants.

  11. As a GenXer married to a Boomer we decided to wait and read some reviews.  I was initially really excited about vv and started following them on Instagram as soon as they were posting.  The marketing is geared towards a hipster crowd and really made me second guess booking with them.  Time will tell.

The fact that it was an excursion purchased through Carnival was irrelevant. Carnival had nothing to do with the incident. The blame falls on the stupid actions of a couple of tour company employees.

It is not irrelevant to me.  When I book non-cruise excursions I research and do my due diligence.  I have experienced nothing but professionalism from private vendors I have booked with. The incident was a fluke and I have booked a couple other cruise excursions since but I always look for a non-cruise one first.

  13. We book more non-cruise line excursions then cruise line excursions. I do my own research and depending on the port and distance of activity we may book a cruise line excursion. TripAdvisor is a great resource.

Ironically the one time we have been late getting back to the ship was on a Carnival excursion in mexico.  Our tour guide and driver saw one of their buddies driving a different excursion group back to the ship.  They thought it would be fun to see who could get their first. Our driver and the other driver started aggressively changing lanes in traffic. Unfortunately our driver clipped the bumper of a different car....up next the Mexican police arrive and they would not let our driver or us leave.  The police held us for at least 1 hour. Finally our guide convinced them to let him drive us to port.  They wouldn't let him go into the port area so we had to unload on the side of the road and hoof it to the ship.  We were late and it put a bad taste in my mouth for cruise line excursions.

I can’t remember......  Are we allowed to carry on or check in a case of bottled water?  We are cruising tomorrow out of Long Beach on the new Panorama.

No but you can pre-order bottled water to be delivered to your room at a pretty cheap cost.  Order online.

So I ordered the French toast on the Valor last week, and this is the brick of bread I got.  20190818_121051.thumb.jpg.5090d3027395bbd97e108b00411211aa.jpg20190818_121156.thumb.jpg.341dfadeb4de58eecda0735cd352cf66.jpg

Very dry on the inside and definitely not the consistency of bread pudding.  It was served with syrup on the side, which helped with the dryness, but I don't like my food drowned in syrup to make it edible.

Overall, very mediocre in my opinion.  After about three bites, I had enough and decided it wasn't nearly good enough to justify all those calories and carbs.

Interesting.....we had it on the Inspriation this past weekend and it was amazing. We didn't even need syrup.
