  1. Yep. Its going to be completely worked over. They are going to give it the breakaway class makeover like they did to the dawn. Kinda sad really.

We were on the Spirit in April and they were talking about a major overhaul removing all of the current Chinese influenced decor. Recent posts suggest a shot dry dock,,,, which would imply that her days in the NCL fleet may be getting short.
  2. Sounds like something I would enjoy. I am going to look into this. Any tips on where to start? Where to grab a bike? or a map?

If you don't decide to explore Kotor ( there are lots of lovely things here) 12km and flat to Perast is easily doable. Let's say it takes you 1 hour there and back (that's a very leisurely pace) - that gives you 2 hours in Perast.
  3. You're awesome! Thank you!

The best way to arrive in the old part of town is by taxi. However you should check with your cruise line to see if they are offering a shuttle bus. No need to hurry since you are arriving after 01 November when our winter hibernation has begun. Many sites have very limited hours, from 0900 until 1600 daily. Since there are very few cruise ships arriving and Europeans are not here, the town will not be busy at all. Do keep in mind that normally November is our wettest month, but then there is nothing normal about weather these days. However be prepared for rain, sun or wind.
  4. Do you think there will be time to bike there after I hike the wall?

Personally to escape the the busyness and over-priced and very average food that's generally increasingly on offer in Kotor (and I'll stand by that), I'd hire a bike and cycle to the famous naval city of Perast, incredibly influential in terms of European naval history. Very charming town. UNESCO. Impressive naval museum. 12km. Flat. Lovely ride. And you're more likely to get a quality lunch here.
  5. Hi Wendy, yeah, its daunting! I am just going to take 4.5 hous and do the Sistine chapel on my own before the cruise. Then, I will take a tour with a 3rd party company, which has a lot of what I feel I need to see and it suits my budget. Wish I had 4 days. Guess next time! :)

Great decision, hope this all works out for you.

I commiserate with you trying to fit all this in. We'll be there for 4.5 days and I'm not sure how I'm going to do it. I am doing it in a spreadsheet, reading a tour guide and the web, and at times going quietly nuts.

It did sound to me like the NCL tour must be a semi-private one, which accounts for the price. But now that you can tick off some of those boxes on your pre-cruise day, perhaps you can find a private or small group tour for the other day that does the rest.

(And cruisemom, thanks for those links. More fodder for my addled brain.)

  6. After much thought and reading these posts, I have decided to add a day to Rome. I will be Visiting the Sistine chapel and the likes prior to reaching my cruise. I will do it on my own! That will really save me a lot of headache the day of the cruise, I think.
