That's good to know. Thank you. I would be more interested in the beach area anyway. I hang around the community pool at home. Does this beach area have a swim up bar? They had one at Labadee the last time we were there with Royal Caribbean.

I believe there are 2 swim up bars, one in the main Oasis Lagoon pool and one in the Hideaway Beach area pool (Hideaway Beach is an extra cost adults only area). South Beach area is supposed to have a floating bar but I haven’t been to that  side of the island.

I don't think an amusement park island has an appeal for Celebrity cruisers. I opted to go to Bimini over Coco Cay. However I would have probably been better off gong to Coco Cay since we have the drink package. I was just afraid that one of those 7000 passenger Royal Caribbean ships would be in port as well. At least I know Bimini will only have one ship.

I was just at CocoCay last week on Reflection (with Symphony OTS as the other ship). The Hideaway Beach area was perfect with no amusement park feel to it. Adults only, and didn’t feel overly crowded at all. A bit of a party vibe in the pool bar area w/ the DJ, but not as much on the beach. YMMV.

  4. It would be so helpful if they would just send an email confirmation after you complete the activity.

Still nothing for me, again. Guess I’ll need to contact them tomorrow. I do have a screenshot of the completion screen this time, but it sure is annoying having to do this constantly (three of the last four times…). At least they’ve been reasonable about giving the points eventually.

Well I found a thread on this same issue on the photography boards…

    https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2976820-problem-inserting-photos-directly-from-iphone-onto-my-posts-on-the-cruise-critic-boards/

If anyone knows of of a fix for this, please share!

CC boards don't play well with iPhone HEIF (HDR) photos. You need to do the following:

When choosing a photo to upload, tap "Options" in the lower left:

    Library-2of2.thumb.jpeg.a2d0ad9551735ff3d1cc49a16beff90c.jpeg

On the options page, make sure "Most Compatible" is checked.

I'd probably be annoyed on a winter cruise out of NYC with the lack of an indoor pool and it would be nice to have the aft outdoor dining area of Windjammer in the Mediterranean but Playmakers/ELF/Lime & Coconut will make up for it for me on the Odyssey.

But there is still a nice (indoor) panoramic aft view from the Windjammer, and it tends to not be very crowded back there. Great for port sailaways.

Technically, Ovation is a Quantum Class with Odyssey being a Quantum-Ultra Class.

    So step-sisters? Cousins?

I've never been on any other Quantum/Ultra other than Odyssey, so other than things mentioned, I'm not sure what the big deal was that made them give Spectrum and Odyssey a slightly different class designation. According to Wikipedia, Odyssey has the smallest gross tonnage of the 5.

    Marketing...

Yikes! I forgot to do that this time. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Watch it again! Or just start it and leave it running in the background...

The Galapagos Islands are a definite bucket list item. And the "glamping" thing looks fun.

  9. Back home last night after spending a few days in Rome followed by a few in Barcelona. Loved Rome for the history, but the constant pushy money grubbing from cab drivers, waiters, street vendors got old. Cab drivers in particular were just looking for any opportunity to scam. One waiter practically demanding a tip. What a turnoff.

We stayed at the Albergo del Senato hotel right next to the Pantheon, it was nice enough (though very noisy from street crowds) but next time I would choose some place more convenient to the metro and busses, and not have to rely on taxi$ so much to get around.

Barcelona wasn’t nearly as bad in this respect.

As for the cruise itself, we enjoyed it very much. Odyssey is a great ship to cross the ocean on. We are definitely planning more TAs and other repositioning cruises for the future.
