  1. $35 day pass at The Marriott, nicest beach on St. Kitts bar anything. The property is expansive you can sight see wherever you want, the shops and boutique's in the hotel are high end. Great shopping she can spend the entire day on the property never have to go anywhere. Your party can join her for drinks when your finished diving. She'll be right there waiting for you, snug as a bug in a rug. Later Todd
  2. The NPS, doesn't operate Magen's Bay, so that explains it. I've always been very fond of Magen's Bay, beach and water are excellent, the Magen's Bay bar and restaurant, vibe is terrible, been there twice, I'll never go back. Actually now that the bar, restaurant and other amenities are back open on St. John, I'll never stay on STT again. I was there 6 months ago, wouldn't go near Magen's Bay could have jumped in any taxi and gone there, ended up at Secret Harbour. Was hoping during the last hurricane the restaurant and bar at Magen's got washed out into Magen's BAY with Kenny Chesney's beach house. We weren't that lucky, that's a whole lotta beach, with a whole lotta people with VERY little to drink or eat. The bar is so small and congested it's not worth getting a drink. Food I wouldn't eat a basket of fries from that place. I handed the "bartender" at the Magen's Bay restaurant and bar, my credit card, about 15 minutes later I got 1 beer, I made the horrible mistake of starting a tab with this beach dud, I could never get another beer it wasn't worth the hassle, it took me another 20 minutes to close out my 1 beer bar tab, never again. Last Nov. 28th we got off the Caribbean Princess at Havensight I walked off the ship, looked to my right and saw the open air taxi's(all of them) headed to Magen's(cattle herder's convention) I walked over to a taxi driver and said I wanted to go to Redhook and St. John he genuinely said the island was not ready for tourists. I told him I cannot go with them, he looked at me and said, I'm taking you to a white sand beach that's beautiful very nice and quiet, if I didn't like it I didn't pay him I jumped on away we went. 15 minute's later we ended up at Secret Harbour, the BAR and RESTAURANT The Sunset Grille, tried it again, handed my credit card to the bartender I said my name is Todd I'm going to be spending my day with you on your beach, I pointed at the spot where my backpack was sitting on the beach, could I start a tab please, and get a Stella? Guess what!!!!! With a BIG smile she handed me a Stella and told me to enjoy my day. That's my girl!!!! Take another guess, what happened every time I walked up to the bar with an empty Stella bottle in my hand, and a BIG smile on MY face, exactly she handed me another Stella, boy I'm asking for a lot aren't I!! Do yourself a favor next visit to STT, grab the ferry at Redhook or if you absolutely have to stay on STT head to Secret Harbour or Sapphire. I know I'm going to get hell for this post but it's the truth.
  3. There's all kind's of lazy thing's to do on Curacao, this is the island that's made for being classy and lazy at the same time!!😀 Unlike many port cities, Willemstad you can not only grab a detailed enough map of the city, you can actually walk it with a drink in your hand not only feel safe but I felt like I was right at home. That's lazy!! Or, OR you can do a ship or private island tour on a BIG tour bus with a BUNCHA hmmmmmmm let's just say's NOT the party type folks, and I'm ready to party. 😃 That hardly ever happens!! Get on a BIG LONG tour bus with an AARP Convention forget lazy, they're stuck in there seat's, can't move. I'm TRYING to get lazy, after my 3rd drink. 3-4 drinks later yes I'm lazy but not THAT lazy. Last and not least is the day pass at a resort I happen to be very fond of on Curacao, it's lazy. You'll figure it out. 😎
  4. I've have never made reservations once on our visits to the Marriott, when are you going?? Between now and Christmas you won't need anything but a smile and a credit card for your $35.00(Please don't pay the booking fee.) day pass at the St. Kitts Marriott. It's this simple, when your taxi drops you off in front of the Marriott, you walk directly towards the concierge desk to your left with a big smile, credit card in hand, they're going to ask you what ship you are on, IF you happen to be cruising on a Carnival Cruise Ship, lie😄 and tell them your cruising on either a Princess, Royal Caribbean or even Holland America if you have too, hand them your credit card when she hands you your receipt walk over to the elevator get in it and hit THE BEACH button, walk out and go have a great day! First thing's first, go back to the bar order a good bloody mary and get a tab started, yep break out that credit card again. 😁 You'll figure out the rest. If you have 4-5 people in your group I would not only consider a day room, I would do a day room same price altogether you get a nice room for the day to keep your stuff and go and get out of the sun for a few it's nice, only way to go 4 or more. Have fun!!
  5. That's "touching" that "we" would still recommend Sapphire, "we" can do whatever you wish, comparing anything on STT to Trunk Bay and STJ altogether can't be done. Whether anybody likes it or not the nicest beach on STT is Magen's Bay if it wasn't the NPS would own it as well, it's a rather simple thing. Cinnamon and Hawk's Nest are great if there's 5 people or less on the beach, no bathrooms, no lockers, no showers, no snack bar, nothing to drink, no anything. You can Sapphire and Cinnamon it all day long, Trunk Bay is the place to be, always has been always will be!!
  6. I was here at Secret Harbour about 6 months ago. A very peaceful enclave. No problem renting chairs or umbrella's. The restaurant and GREAT bar, The Sunset Grille good food, drank Stella's all day on the beach water was great, sun was HOT. Bathroom's are at the restaurant. Never saw a shower except where you walk up to the restaurant from the beach to wash your feet off. Taxi's are everywhere. Hope that helps. 😎
  7. The volcanic rocks coming out of the ocean in your last photo, were placed there by the resort to break the Atlantic surf. If it appears the chunks of rock have been strategically placed IN A LINE in the center of the beach to break the surf, it's because they have been. This is a very family oriented resort, anybody can take there children to this beach and in the area where they placed the "breakers", they can easily walk they're children in the ocean or swim with they're children, without much worry. Seniors, I was with a TON of them back in 2010, they didn't want to get out of the water., when they did get out of the OCEAN it was to walk up to the bar get another drink and go back in the OCEAN. 😀
  8. I've stood in line at the ticket counter in the Redhook terminal(several times) takes 4 to 5 minutes or less. Just make sure you get yourself and anyone else travelling with you a ROUNDTRIP ticket. 😁 Don't concern yourself with getting over to St. John or Trunk(never an issue), if your like many of us who stay on Trunk until the last minute, who've been drinking heavily ALL DAY(just for starters), who've been laying out on a WHITE sand beach getting BLISTERED, (forget tan you lay out on Trunk your SCORCHED), your issue is getting back to the ship, in one piece, upright, and BEFORE your ship departs. That last one "BEFORE your ship departs" is the biggie. Go have fun!!
  9. 2 ships in port that's incredible(that's just like the good ol days) this is your chance to go, an excellent opportunity, enjoy your day and get back to STT without all the fanfare. Once you go and spend a few hours on Trunk in all due respect it will be difficult for you to go back to STT and do anything else. You'll figure it out, go have a great day on St. John and Trunk Bay.
  10. It's still a choppy trip over and back at that time of day. I ALWAYS stay until the last minute on Trunk, it cost me in 2011. Crown Bay to Redhook is NOT the same as Havensight to Redhook, especially later in the day on your way back. I would never take the 6pm ferry back to STT, if my ship left Crown Bay at 8pm. With the variables involved in getting back to Crown Bay in under 2 hours, I can't do it anymore, I get on the ferry 3 hours before whichever ship I'm on departs either pier. If your on STT with say 4 ships or more in both piers it doesn't matter, I would very much consider heading over to STJ, but if you get to Redhook and the traffic, vehicle and pedestrian is a bit much and it took longer to get over there that you had expected, wait till you try and get back. You do the math, St. John Trunk Bay I do the math and I make it work. I would go, especially now that the snack bar and BAR BAR are open. Later Todd
  11. If your ship doesn't disembark St. Thomas until 8pm, you not only don't have to catch the 3pm ferry back to Redhook, you don't have to be one of the first off the ship and in a mad dash for Redhook before the 8am ferry departs for Cruz Bay. So you say your ship doesn't leave St. Thomas until 8pm, let me guess it doesn't get into Crown Bay until 3-4pm? What a CROCK!! If this is the time frame you have to work with on St. Thomas I would forget about St. John and do exactly what the previous member has suggested and stay on St. Thomas and do an awesome beach there. Forget about St. John, you'll miss the ship, you don't need that. Hope that helps Todd
  12. Crown Bay to Trunk Bay........be the first off the ship, early as you possibly can. Walk outside the gate keep walking to the street, ask a taxi driver you need to get to RED HOOK, NOW. He will point you in the right direction for the right taxi to Redhook. Within several minutes you will be on your way, once you arrive at Redhook get inline or walk up to the ticket counter and buy yourself a round trip ticket, the ferry ride over to Cruz Bay is about 20 minutes. When you get off the ferry walk right up to one of the OPEN AIR taxi driver's and say, TRUNK, hand him $12 and your good to go. You'll figure your way back, hint hint don't miss the 3pm ferry BACK over to Redhook ST .THOMAS from Cruz Bay ST. JOHN 😊 Trust me on that one. Be at Cruz Bay by 2:50pm latest LEAVE Trunk Bay(THE BEACH) by no later than 2:30pm. Go have fun. Later Todd
  13. Excellent protocol!! I will absolutely remember that on my next visit. Thank you.
  14. "Carambola is not what it was" Port Royal that place sucks. "went through a Turd's phase" phase that's all that I ever encountered on Carambola were Turd's. LOT'S of them, thanks but no thanks. "now welcome to mayhem" gimme a break that place is a nightmare. I'm going to have head over to Nevis, have myself well 3-4 would be my limit of those Killer Bee drink's you've been talking about, they sound wonderful. Genteel Cruisers........God I love that. That's me.
  15. Ronaldo If you've happened to have read some of my previous entries (posts) in reference to getting just a good drink on Antigua, you'll see that's it's not only genuinely discouraging, it's nothing short of silly. I just don't understand why on this island(Antigua) it's ALWAYS a problem. My last visit was NO different, I said when we got back last December, from now on I was going to start mixing my own drink's and bringing my own beer or liquor. After the suggestions by Port Royal in reference to: Buying rum 5 years or younger because it goes well on the beach, I call that brilliant. Mixing equal measures of gold and white rum in a GLASS with a couple of ice cubes, gimme a break, that's it. Local rum is a must on the beach. How nice is that!! This is not only a simple math issue, it's also peace of mind and not having to worry about where you're getting your next crummy $10 drink, it's pathetic. Bottle of 5 years or younger rum $12 for THE WHOLE BOTTLE, do exactly what Port Royal said, buy 2 gold and white, ok your up to around $25 or so, that's it. Go to the Dollar Tree and get yourself and your party a half a dozen or so short clear drink glasses(or heavy clear plastic) and set them down in your backpack. I do this with plastic cups, but I'm not drinking good local rum out of a plastic cup that's for beer, I'm doing EXACTLY what Port Royal said I'm dropping a couple of ice cubes in a clear drink glass so I can SIP local rum all day long on the beach. That's it. Ok so now your up to around $30-ish or so. I know this sounds like a pain the ass, but I'd buy my own bag of ice, especially with party of folks like you have. It won't last long, it's the islands remember. Beat's going to the bar and asking for ice all day long. Your still easily under $50, easily. $50, I'm not sure I've EVER had a bar tab under $100 most are much more than that. Do this, go straight to Turners and spend your AWESOME day on THAT beach. Your set, I would certainly buy something to nibble on so by around 1pm your not blistered in more ways than one. Me, I get on the beach, on the liquid diet all day long, I have so much fun just being on the beach drinking, food NEVER enters my mind SO by the time I get back on the bus I'm absolutely COOKED. Please don't do that. Go have fun and enjoy your day with your family and SIP local 5 years or younger rum all day long on Turners, just like Port Royal has suggested, THAT'S a NICE day on Antigua. It's the only way to go. Now go have fun and have a nice vacation. Take care Todd
  16. Turner's and Darkwood I have been to both of these, they are the exact same thing except Turners is at the end of the bay. From Turner's you can look up the beaches and see Darkwood about 5 beaches up, and about 3-4 miles north. Yes, Darkwood is nice I've always been a fan, it's just Turner's seems to be a bit more open, new bar and with it being on the end of the bay it's just nice down there. Plus I like the new bar and restaurant area. Beach and water are pure awesome Antigua. Buy and mix your own cocktails like Port Royal said is THE ONLY WAY to do this, you'll go broke(I did) drinking all day at Turner's or Darkwood it doesn't matter. When you get off the ship and walk into town as you walk off the pier, ON YOUR RIGHT is a liquor beverage store you can't miss it, very small quick in and out, good prices I bought beer I should have bought rum like Port Royal has suggested. I wasn't thinking imagine that.🙄 I'll finish this entry later. I have to run. Later Todd MIX YOUR OWN DRINKS LIKE HE SAID!! Dont go broke like me.
  17. YUMMY!!! See I don't know things like this, that's genius. Gold and white rum in a glass with a couple of ice cubes "on the beach" your killing me, that's thee only way to go. 5 year old rum or younger on the beach, I totally get that. YES!!! Nobody ever told me except for you, "Local Rum to the island must be taken to the beach" good grief I wish I had known that much sooner. That's GREAT advice and I certainly hope others take it, because I am!! Thanks Todd
  18. Excellent suggestion, excellent advice, buy a bottle of local rum for your day on TURNER'S Beach and mix your own drinks. That's brilliant. I was on Turner's in December, did not know to take my own bottle really wish I had. That won't happen again. Port Royal I wish I had asked you about that, I got stuck on a tour bus with little or no alcohol, great tour just not much to drink, then we got to Turner's and drink's were close to $10 a pop, like I said that'll never happen.
  19. Princess I certainly pay them mind, and I would hope others who are planning a trip to St. Lucia would certainly do the same. Especially if they plan on making the most of there short cruise visit to your home, and Princess if they don't they can "take a self-guided walking tour" around Castries, and MISS the rainforest, MISS the drive up in the mountains, MISS the fishing village of Soufriere( I think that's how you spell it), MISS, YES!!! drinking ICE COLD Pitons ALL DAY LONG(not Caribe's that's on all the OTHER islands😊) MISS all the GREAT food( I eat anything) and here's the best part Princess (take a DEEP breathe) and MISS THE FREAKING PITONS, did you get that?! Because granny got her purse snatched in Serenity Park??? OMG, I'm dying!! Don't laugh even though it's very funny!! I can no longer address something like this without getting another "reminder" from the very nice moderators of Cruise Critic in reference to me😁 using "inappropriate language", I happen to be very fond of this website have been for years, I'm trying to keep it that way. OMG, I'm still shaking off granny and Serenity Park!!! You are very eloquent when you discuss your home that's a gift I was not given(couldn't tell it could ya), I'm very sorry I just don't have that. We are again approaching bedtime( you'all are like Thank God for that!!) Princess one day I'll make an entry about the 1st time I came through the mountains, and saw The Pitons. Another day Princess, have a nice evening.
  20. Ma'am I see that you not only reside in St. Lucia but you are also an excellent representative of your home. I find that very commendable, I have been given the privilege of visiting your home on many occasions starting back almost 20 years. It's getting late here on the east coast and I have to go to bed so I'm not going on some long song and dance about how much fun and how much I LOVE St. Lucia because you already know everything. I'll be back, and I'm very much looking forward to it. Have a nice evening Todd
  21. During your visit to St. Lucia the very least of your concerns are the crime rate(or muggingof an old lady at Serenity Park). This is not the island for "a self-guided walking tour" "around town". Your not doing "self-guided walking tours" on all your ports are you?? Here's the deal homey, we'll spoon feed you through the whole thing. St. Lucia is an ecological wonder of the world, that cheesy "self-guided walking tour" this is NOT the island for that. It's as simple as this, you don't have to think we've already done that for you.🙄 Google Cosol Tours and BOOK one of their tours, the only thing you have to concern yourself with then is whether or not there are enough Caribe's in Baptiste's cooler to last you throughout your long FUN day. That's it, nothing more!! It's that simple!!! You can do it!!! NOW, e-mail Cosol's Tours and REALLY go and SEE St. Lucia. 😉 Have fun Todd!!! So let me get this right, you are planning on going to this AWESOME island and not going to the Pitons?? Your killing me, your killing yourself.
  22. You have made an excellent choice with Cosol. These guys are true pro's from start to finish, you don't have to worry about anything except enjoying the island, the way it should be. 😉
