Car rental from port of Miami to port Canaveral
Corby114 replied to Mr and Mrs C's topic in Florida Departures
Traveling from Port Canaveral to the Port of Miami by car service is going to be mighty expensive. The four plus hour trip on Interstate 95 unfortunately isn't the easiest ride either. You most likely will be charged for the one way fare along with a charge for deadheading the vehicle back to Port Canaveral. Lastly, I would be a nervous wreck trying to go from one ship to another on the same day. Good luck to you! -
Anyone rented a car at the Orlando Airport with Flexways?
Corby114 replied to GeorgiaMomof4's topic in Florida Departures
I have never heard of this company. After reading numerous poor reviews I would stay away from this company. Many complaints regarding lost deposits, damaged vehicles and high priced insurance quotes I would definitely pass on this company. -
What's the best piece of cruise advice you've ever been given?

Pick and choose what you want to do while you're on your cruise. It's absolutely impossible to do everything! -
Mia Airport car rental shuttle to cruise port
Corby114 replied to patrickkc's topic in Florida Departures
There is no free shuttle service from the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center to the Port of Miami. The service was discontinued at the beginning of the Covid Pandemic and never returned. Cabs, Uber and Lyft wait for fares on the top floor of the Rental Car Center. All the major car rental companies discontinued service. Personally I would rather drop off the rental here than the downtown Miami location on 2nd Street. That location is too small and too congested m, especially on weekend cruise turnaround days. -
Port Canaveral on cruise turnaround days are very busy, especially during the morning rush were everyone is in a rush to get home, make an early flight, etc. The easiest way to handle this scenario is to drop off family, friends and luggage first at the terminal in Port Canaveral. Then return the rental vehicle and either wait for the free shuttle or Uber, Lyft or cab it back over to Port Canaveral.

The Dania Beach Casino on Dania Beach Blvd has a long term parking lot on their property. The facility is located just east of Federal Highway US 1.

If you plan on changing the date of your cruise you will first be charged a one hundred dollar penalty per person and may be charged a higher rate if the week you choose for the change is more expensive.

There is no free shuttle service from FLL to Port Everglades. That service was discontinued pre Covid and never resumed. You can easily rent a vehicle at the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center and return it on embarkation day at FLL. I normally drive over to Port Everglades and drop off my family and luggage at the Port Terminal. I return the rental vehicle at FLL and walk outside near the Arrivals area. A cab normally costs between fifteen and twenty dollars plus tip. The entire process takes less than an hour.

Any liquor purchased on the first weeks sailing will usually be delivered to your cabin on the last night before disembarkation or on the morning of disembarkation. On some ships you may be responsible to pick up the liquor on your own at a pre determined location usually the night before disembarkation. If you purchase only on the second week's sailing you pick up your purchase on the last night before disembarkation.

Sail out of Miami, but hate Miami airport.

Fly into Fort Lauderdale or West Palm Beach. Fort Lauderdale to Miami takes around forty five minutes and West Palm Beach to Miami is around two hours. SAS Transportation is a great shuttle company that serves many hotels in the Fort Lauderdale area. Uber or Lyft is another option regarding either For Lauderdale or West Palm Beach. -
Shuttle service from Port Canaveral is very busy between 7:30AM and 9:00AM when everyone is attempting to get on the shuttle buses at the same time. After 9:00AM most passengers have left the port and lines are shorter for the short ten minute ride over to the car rental offices in Cape Canaveral.
-
They normally want you out of your cabin by 8:30AM and off of the ship by 9:00AM. They need to get the ship down to a zero passenger count so that they can start embarking new passengers by 11:00AM.

Best place to rent car for return to west coast
Corby114 replied to riandei's topic in Florida Departures
I have rented vehicles at both locations. One time the line for service at the downtown Budget location was literally down the block. That same time there was a shortage of vehicles and that was in January 2019 when there were six ships docked at the Port of Miami. Personally even with a line I prefer the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center. -
There is no free shuttle service from Port Everglades over to the Fort Lauderdale/ Hollywood Airport Rental Car Center. That free service was discontinued at the beginning of the Covid Pandemic and never resumed. Same thing goes for travel from FLL over to Port Everglades. A cab runs you approximately twenty dollars plus tip for the short fifteen minute ride.

A mini van with around four suitcases should hold around four passengers. One passenger in the front seat and three passengers occupying the second row. Four suitcases behind the passengers.

The downtown Miami rental car locations are very small and very busy on cruise turnaround days. It's so much easier to rent a vehicle from the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center across from Miami International Airport. The facility is open twenty four seven and every major rental car company has an office there. Plenty of rental cars available too! So much easier to rent from there. -
There are plenty of mini van cabs and SUV's at Port Everglades. Just get on line at the taxi stand and wait for one. It's a short fifteen minute ride over to FLL.
-
The ride from Orlando to Miami should take you approximately four hours under normal driving conditions.
-
Take the train or rent a vehicle but make sure you head down to Miami at least one day before your cruise embarkation

Royal Caribbean's primary terminal at Port Everglades is Terminal 18. There newest, biggest vessel will use that terminal. Celebrity which is owned by Royal Caribbean normally uses Terminal 25 and Terminal 29 if two ships from the company are docked there at the same time. Most likely you will be accommodated in reference to shuttle service from ship to ship.Contact someone at Guest Services during your first cruise. I wouldn't bother going back to your vehicle. If you're off the first ship by 9:00AM you should be on the Royal Caribbean ship by 11:00AM.
-
If both cruises are with the same company they may provide you with free transportation. If the cruises are with two different cruise lines the cab companies will charge you a flat eight dollar fee to get you to the second terminal.
-
Taxi's are located on the top floor of the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center. After exiting the building you will see buses parked that provide free transportation over to Miami International Airport. Make a right turn and you will see a line of cabs ready to go.

Alamo or Enterprise shuttle from MIA to POM?
Corby114 replied to KarenRB's topic in Florida Departures
Free shuttle service from the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center was discontinued at least three years ago to the Port of Miami. All the rental car companies discontinued service. The easiest way to get to the Port of Miami now is a cab, Uber or Lyft. Cabs are always waiting for customers on the top floor of the Rental Car Center.
