  1. Had the same problem. So I waited till I got on the ship the first day. Well, the 50% off was not on a discounted price but full price. Instead of it coming out at $5 a day after discount, it was $7.50. I went to the Internet cafe and spoke to the guy in charge there. He said that the discount which should show up on medallion (ours didn't give me the 50% off), is not available once on the ship.On the ship the price is more , still get the discount but at a higher price. He said the discounted price is gone three days before the cruise. he suggested calling Princess or our travel agent to buy the internet. This is the example for our 10 day cruise. Medallion showed price $100. should have shown the discount and price would be $50.00. Mine showed no Elite discount. On board price was $149.00 and discount had me pay $75.00. Internet manager credited me back the $25 extra I paid but said in the future to call Princess or travel agent. he said once on the ship the 50% would be off the full price.
  2. The Medallion application on your phone is how you order food for delivery, not the medallion itself. The Medallion gets you in your cabin door and I.D.'s you when purchasing food, drinks, merchandise, boarding and leaving the ship. No ordering anything for delivery with the medallion, need your phone for that with the application.
  3. comes with a free lanyard and that is what we use. Or you can buy items sold when you order your medallions via the medallion appl. Or you can wait till you are on the ship and buy then.People have found generic ones on Amazon. I would wait till your Medallions arrive and decide (get the free lanyard)
  4. In San Francisco when we entered the terminal there was a room with sign that said Covid testing.
  5. We took a taxi from airport to cruise port. it was $60 (we asked before we got in the cab) and tip on top of it.
  6. On the Ruby to Alaska recently only places on board I felt cold was the aft dining room and Princess theatre.A shirt or tee shirt all we needed during the day walking around the ship.
  7. Some people on our cruise asked for a pad to be put on their mattress and that worked for them. I didn't realize we could get one and we just suffered. We just got off the Ruby Princess and the bed was heavenly. Slept well.
  8. When our flight on United was cancelled late at night before the morning flight (I was traveling day of cruise),I was greatful that I booked direct and not through EZair. I went on line and immediately booked another flight leaving an hour later and getting in nice and early. I prefer having control and handling any problems with airlines direct rather than with a third party.
  9. The Wyndham is right across the street from the port. That would be my first choice. They can shuttle you across the street or you can just walk across.
  10. She was very different in her lecture approach. Good information and I agree a must to see.
  11. we were on the July 9th cruise. We arrived at the port at 10:am. no line outside at all but once in big lines for checkin. We were Green Lane and although lots of help, very slow checkin. It was dumb because all our info already in computer system and all they needed to do was see our covid tests and passports. Felt sorry for people on the Blue line , plenty of windows open and massive lines. So my advice don't come later to port, go as early as possible. I heard there were huge lines as the morning progressed into the early afternoon.SF seems to have unskilled people manning those check ins. In San Pedro, it was quick and easy. Also no one checked if we had the Arrive Canada done. We got reminders in the patter daily to do it but no one checked , no one on the ship or when we actually got off in Prince Rupert. We were thinking that maybe the ship had gotten a list from Canada with who did it or maybe Canada got a passenger list from the Ruby. No one actually knew the answer and we didn't ask at passenger services. Our cruise was fabulous and we would do it again in a heartbeat. Even though boarding was a bit of a hassle, worth it in the long run to do this cruise.Internet was lousy so I hope the person doing the Live thread has better luck using it.
  12. On Discovery ours wasn't a mattress, it was a cement slab. Not firm, just hard as a rock.
  13. My husband did PCR test with CVS on a Saturday at 4PM. Results came back on Monday at 5am. This was actually after a cruise and he was very sick. Only place we could get an appt. on short notice.Tested negative . Turned out wasn't Covid but he did pick up a bug on the cruise. We have appts. this Wednesday at 9am for PCR at CVS for a cruise on Saturday. If we don't have the results back by early morning on Friday we will then take a rapid test antigen but we would have to pay for it. Right now the CVS test is free.
  14. I know some lucky couples that found love on a Princess cruise. Just fate made it happen.
  15. they show up but leave and don't sit at the tables with the Most Traveled Passengers for lunch.
  16. We always wore masks except when eating. Bar drinks only drank in areas where there were few people or took back to our cabin.Went on four cruises since cruising began. Two days after returning from the March 27 and April 3rd cruises on Discovery my husband got very sick. Had all the symptoms of Covid. Took the home test and was negative and so was I. Repeated the next day, still negative but he was very ill. Went and did PCR test , and he was still negative. Not Covid. medical center refused to see him in person even when I said he didn't have Covid. Went to Urgent care, treated like a pariah . Dr. checked him outside in a tent. Gave him two antibiotics, no diagnosis. He was so sick for three weeks. Slept most of the time, was still weak for another three weeks after. Our family Dr. said it was most probably Pneumonia. So still can catch something besides Covid and one can be even sicker. We were so careful on that cruise. had been on the ship for two weeks and did go on one Princess tour in Mexico but wore our masks except when eating.
  17. I hope this thread doesn't scare people into not reporting Covid when on board a cruise ship. We have made the decision to cruise and have four booked future cruises. (and already have been on four cruises since cruising began again)However, none of our cruises will start and end anywhere except in the U.S.If we have to isolate, will do it. Being within driving of a port makes us feel more secure. If we have to go to a hotel because too sick to drive, that is fine with us. The article that was posted by the lady isolated in Vancouver shows how expensive and difficult isolation after a cruise can be. Some postings mention that passengers were driven to Seattle instead. I think for U.S. citizens that would have been preferred. Less hassle after 5 days of isolation. The responsible thing is to report when you are ill. Protect your fellow human beings, please.
  18. You are locked in the corridor. There are those big doors that are locking you in that open to the elevators and stairs. You have no access out. Don't know if there are people in the hall watching to see if you try to leave.Friend of mine said when she was taken to isolation cabins, she was brought through crew only access areas , not public hallways or elevators.
  19. I had a person say exactly the same thing on a elevator when we were on Discovery. I was the only one masked in a full elevator. Very obvious he was addressing me. It took everything I had to keep my mouth shut and not say something vile back at him.
  20. For people not flying international, wonder how many will be honest when they start showing symptoms.I thank all the honest people that have reported symptoms and tested positive. Makes it a little more safe for those of us sailing with them. Our next cruise is July and we are flying to San Francisco. Our cruise is RT there. Should we get sick and are in isolation, plan to rent a car and drive home from SF(if we are feeling well enough to do it)and are still positive.
  21. I always use car service Dial 7. Look it up on the internet. I have asked them for a quote and then booked. Sometimes I call them, sometimes do it on line. Prices are better than cabs. they are very reliable. I have used them from JFK to cruise port, Hotels, and from the Brooklyn Cruise port to airport.
  22. Yes it showed blue, but yesterday no longer any little letter on my photo. My husband had an E by the latest booking (mine still B). Letters are gone right now, no status showing. Even with it incorrect, my medallions came correct on my previous cruises (March, April). No use in calling to correct status, done that a couple of times and no fix. I do have a PVP but won't call her because I booked with my regular travel agent on my next cruises. I will wait and see if things improve on the appl.(in our dreams) before trying to order the Internet again.
  23. Leaving in early July. I also don't want to stand in those long lines at Passenger services to correct it.I am going to wait and see if my appl. changes and shows the discount. My appl. had me as Blue Card instead of Elite member. I complained and it never got corrected. However, the medallions came in correct and on line personalizer was correct. I notice now the little"B" no longer there on our photos. No longer shows any status. We have cruised 4 times since last October. Only one didn't have Princess plus. I waited till we boarded to buy the internet minutes. Instead of the $5.00 a day it was $7.50. Long lines at passenger services and not worth standing there for a 5 day cruise.($12.50).
  24. One booster is on the front with the original vaccines, second booster on the back. My hubby has it done the same way but different dates on the booster.
  25. Another problem. My next cruise we don't have Princess plus.I want to purchase internet. Some have mentioned for Elite and Plats, the appl. now shows the discount. Not on mine, only has the full price and it is asking me to pay full price.
