  1. For over a year the Medallion appl. showed me as Blue (I have been elite for years). Never could get it fixed but our medallions always came correct (elite)

Now on the new appl, shows me Platinum and who knows what will happen when I order medallions.

My daughter who will be sailing with me is showing  Gold .I may have to check because she may be Ruby

Website shows me correct as Elite.

  2. Bob since you mentioned tips I will ask you.

The last cruise we were on we had a full suite.Rarely do we cruise in full suites. We enjoyed Sabatinis every morning for breakfast.

The staff working were incredible ladies all from the Ukraine. The last day before the cruise ended and final breakfast at Sabatinis, we tipped all of the ladies the same amount , no matter what their duties were. They all seemed surprised that we tipped them ( and we were generous). What really shocked me was that morning the restaurant was pretty empty. The regulars that we saw every morning never showed up. For the incredible service and this being Suite guests, I was surprised.I know extra tipping is optional but these ladies really made our cruise. Enjoyed the wonderful start of the day with them.  We were made to feel special. It was a 19 day cruise.

Bob what is done usually regarding tipping here. I know you mostly enjoy the Suite Life.

  3. we always tip room service deliveries and probably still will do it. Wondering  how people will feel if we are charged $5 for each delivery.

Sometimes we book a suite. I think we should not be  charged for room service while in a suite.

Benefits  for being in a suite are less and less now.We are already paying a higher daily gratuity too.

  4. Can't log into the personalizer on the website any more for my husband, doesn't recognize his password. For me, sometimes I can log in, today also says password  incorrect.

I have given up. Will just do it through booking number. However if I want to see anything else,

history, Future Cruise credits etc, can't do it right now.

Sue - I hope everything works out for your husband.  Medically, the person must qualify for the Micra pacemaker based on a list of factors.  In DW situation -- the cardiologist had an added factor to consider.  She had her aortic valve replaced 15 years ago.  Extensive testing and analysis were required.  She qualified and is very happy with her new pacemaker.   John

My husband is getting aortic valve replaced in a couple of weeks. Apparently 10% of people getting this procedure these days will need a pacemaker afterwards. My husband was told his chances are 30% that he will need pacemaker. His procedure for the valve is TAVR( will be going through groin).

I have been pondering this thread since OP started it...I do understand the frustration of not being able to find a spot in the wine bar to order wine....on the other hand, on our current Hawai'i cruise my favorite entertainers (ELUA...AKA TIki Dave & Leialoha) have regularly been scheduled in the Piazza so I have never been able to sit & listen to a whole set because there is barely any seating...Princess uses the Piazza as an entertainment venue & has not published or posted any rules (like the ones about deck seating so...if I find a seat it seems reasonable to me to use it)...I can go to a show in the Explorers lounge without ordering a drink...I can go every day to Wheelhouse bar for 'ukulele class without ordering a drink...I have even on other ships (gasp) done crafts in the Crown Grill or Sabatini's without ordering food...(in my mind if Princess schedules an activity in a venue it then becomes an activity venue as much as a bar/dining or whatever venue)...they are back to serving drinks in the Theater so would that be a revenue generating venue where my non-alcohol enjoying behavior makes me unwelcome?

This early morning before we get off the ship (Crown) I went down to count the seating...the center part of the Piazza has 26 spots to sit (tables & little loveseat things), the international cafe has 12...Vines has 24 at small tables, 8 tall stools at one large table & 8 bar stools...Good Spirits has 8 bar stools, 17 chairs around tables & bench seating for maybe 10 if they get really cozy...in you add in the planter edges where people often sit around the Piazza that adds at most 20 more spots (again if people are really cozy) all those seats together are not enough seating for the events they schedule there...as many have said it is a Princess problem not a fellow guest problem.

and there are people sitting (mostly sleeping in the piazza  chairs) and never seem to leave.

@VibeGuy    Thanks for the detailed information.  Good to know.  I always enjoy reading your commentary.

DW pacemaker was implanted about 8 weeks ago.  So this is all new to my wife and me as well.   I will try to talk to the certified device specialist for additional info.

My wife has the next generation in pacemakers – called the Micra AV pacemaker.   This device is implanted in the heart chamber.  It’s the world’s smallest pacemaker.  A cosmetically invisible device is about the size of a very large multivitamin.  The pacemaker — leaves no bump under the skin, no chest scar and requiring no wire leads which can break or malfunction.  The chance of an infection is very low. It’s completely self-contained within the heart.  Life expectancy is 8/10 years.  The Micra AV automatically adjusts the heart rate appropriately for that activity.  A cardiologist and/or certified tech can reprogram the pacemaker without the need for further surgery at any time.  DW has a monitor near her bed (must be within 6 ft).  The monitor collects cardio data which has the ability to send it to the cloud.  Amazing! Then the data is finally sent to the cardiologist office.  The cardiologist wants DW to send the data to the cloud every 3 weeks.  So far everything is working great.  Today, the advancements in the medical field keep on coming.  Truly amazing.   Sorry is I got carried away with my response.   If this information help’s even one CC member I’m happy.  John

Thanks for the information. I have no idea what kind of device my husband will be getting . Sound like your wife has the state of the arts . Hope that is what he gets.

  8. got none of the items (except bathrobes). We were in a full suite Nov-Dec 2022.We didn't even get the blue bag or Elite setups. We got bedroom slippers. The shampoos, soaps etc were in the refillable containers.Diamond Princess.

Did get a bowl of fruit but it was the usual one that suites get.

I’ll be interested about your opinion of Manzanillo which we’ll visit for the first time in April 2024 on Discovery which also includes a total solar eclipse at sea near Mazatlan.

If you don't book a tour that takes you out of town, the town itself is nothing. Really not a tourist area but a place where people live and shop. We have explored the whole town as we have been there at least 5 times. Was there in December and wished we didn't get off the ship. The dock is a huge walk to the exit out. Very hot and humid day and Lew got sick in town. Cab will only take you to the entrance to the dock and it was such a long walk to the ship with no transportation to pick any one up. I had to have someone get a wheelchair for Lew when we finally got to the ship. There are some nice tours to towns but bus rides are long. Next time we won't get off the ship.

  10. sounds like if one has covid and are isolated it was better not to have the insurance at all.Looks like from reading this , those people got paid right away from Princess direct.

I always have Aon. We get it because we worry about having to cancel before a cruise.Had to do this twice and was greatful we had the insurance. Both times easy, just asked for FCC and got it. No big waiting.

Also reading all this, it can make people not report they are ill and not be isolated. Then Covid will be spread to the passengers.

When I saw the first luggage photo you posted I thought, wow, Holli is traveling light. Then when I saw this one I realized the first photos were only your luggage. Looks like she will be changing clothes several times a day. Or she packs like I do, in case, in case, in case clothes. When we cruise next, I will have to do all the lifting of suitcases (Lew no longer can), so no in case clothes for me and I already told hubby I can only lift 24 inch suitcases.Have a wonderful cruise. Look forward to following you along on your journey. Also looking forward to seeing you on the new Sun Princess next year.happy cruising to you and Holli.

Did you use a travel agent?

    They should’ve gotten an email.

BTW-how many eclipses is this for you?

used a travel agent . Don't know if she got email since she is currently on a cruise. I checked on the cruise and see the itinerary change and note in the travel summary. This is the first time on a cruise ship that we  will see an eclipse.
