On the Nieuw Statendam they will have the game on the big screen by the pool, on the World Stage and in the cabins. Plenty of tailgating type food and drinks. We have been on the Pinnacle ships several times during the Super Bowl

We are cruising to the Med next fall. Many of the tours are already full so I waitlisted for the one we would like to do. The question is can I go ahead and book a second tour for this port just incase I don't get the waitlisted tour? I don't want to be taken off the waitlist by booking a second tour at the same port. Has anyone done this before. I may try calling the excursions folks next week and see what they say but as many know we often don't get the correct answers there.

I keep the pink copy - no need to take a picture.

Shore Excursion Prepurchase Technical Question
iflyrc5 replied to M&L-Colorado's topic in Holland America Line
Be aware that in the past the refundable would go back to your credit card within a day of the end of the cruise. Since August they are now sending you a check which can take up to 6 weeks. I have heard that you can go to guest services the last day of the cruise and get it in cash. I will be trying that in Feb as will should have some refundable on that cruise. -

Thanks for checking. Looking forward to seeing their performance again -
Yes there is a shopping area at the Colon port where you can get off and check it out. When we were there last year there was a group of Embera Indiana selling there crafts just outside the terminal door.

Yes - they need to play the 60s music loud now because those of us that listened to it in the 60s have hearing loss because it was so loud when we listened back in the 60s.😁

Suzy - if you get a chance please ask the Island Magic Steel Band if they will be on the Eurodam in Jan/Feb 2025. We would like to see them again. -

The Island Magic band is very good - we had them only last year so hope they are still on in January when we board. -

Looking forward to your reporting - we board on Jan 8th for 52 days. -
You can purchase any of the 3 internet packages when on board and you can get if for 1 day or the entire cruise. You can purchase the premium package before leaving at a discount which is about the same price as the Surf package purchased on board.

When can I book Specialty Dining Restaurants?
iflyrc5 replied to debfed65's topic in Holland America Line
The dining typically does not open until about 90 days before sailing. I would start checking on the website every couple weeks in March 2025 -

We are boarding on January 8th for 52 days. Wondering who are the current captain and Cruise and Travel director. -
Back about 5 or 6 years ago we did this process twice in Ft Lauderdale where the CBP people came on board. Then it changed back to having to go into the terminal. The HAL shore side representative (Jeff) told us that CBP changed back because a guest on the ship got into an altercation with a CBP officer so the on board process ended. For our upcoming cruises on the Eurodam we will need to go through this process and visit the terminal 4 times. If everyone does what they should this process will take less than an hour but in the past when "guest" didn't follow the process it took over 2 hours.

If the bar code is not on the boarding pass it will not have the boarding time. May not show up for a few more days.

Live from the Rotterdam 12-Day Caribbean - 11/17/24

Crew - "A call was received tonight reiterating the AP conflict issue that IT is not permitted to adjust". Can you explain this a little more since I had the same issue you are having when I was on the Volendam last summer. I don't understand what "AP conflict" is and why can't they adjust it? Thanks -
On Pinnacle ships we normally get deck 1 just aft of the aft elevators on Starboard side - great location and quiet.
-
You don't want to stay in you cabin going through the canal. We have transited several times - you want to be out and about the entire time - bow is usually open - aft lido to see out back - along both sides of the walk around deck for an up-close view of the locks and both sides up on the higher decks. Keep a watch out for wild life too. Also don't miss the Panama Rolls that are offered in the morning.

I had a similar connection issue on the Volendam in August although not as bad as you are having. If I took my laptop up to the desk by Guest Services it worked great - down in the cabin (Deck 1 aft). Mine would drop out in the evening most often but often during the day. I would lose connection and also connection on both our phones with the Naviagator app. The IT folks came down with their sensor but of course it would show fine and 30 minutes after left it would drop off for several minutes and then come back. They did refund some of my money that I used to purchase the wifi. I hope it is better on the Eurodam in January -
Yes the Navigator is great for ordering from the NY Deli and Dive in - don't need to stand in line to order and it notifies you when the order is ready to pickup. I also like to use the "let us know" feature under the connect menu to communicate any issues and to also give praise to crew members that go above and beyond. These "at-a-boys" are read to the group at their team meeting and it can also get them some extra time off.
