  1. My family of 4 will be stopping at Grand Turk in May.  We enjoy snorkeling and have snorkeled in the Bahamas, Cozumel, probably a few other places.  Anyone been snorkeling in GT since the cruise restart?  And if so, what companies do you recommend?  I found some old threads recommending companies, but they are 3 years old, and businesses may have changed hands during the pandemic.  Thanks in advance.

  2. Good to know. Thank you :D I'm not a big lay on the beach person, but I do like to snorkel. I'm sure I'll wander around and do some shopping as well.

I will be in Grand Turk on the Sunshine in 2 weeks. There is supposed to be superior snorkeling / diving there. There are a number of companies that offer two or three site snorkeling, including one where the "shelf" drops off, and there is a 5000 foot drop of the ocean floor. We are booked with Crystal Seas Adventures. I will try to remember to come back here and give you an update when we get back.:D:D

  3. We took the ferry to Nevis and went horseback riding. The day we were docked we were the only ship in port. I think maybe 5 people from the ship took the ferry so there was nobody there. It wound up being just the 2 of us. I'm not into horses really but it was the surprise part of the wedding gift for my wife. It was really nice. We rode for about 1 1/2 hours around the island. The owner and his wife were super nice and was my wife's favorite part of the cruise.

Can you tell me the name of the vendor you used? My daughter is wanton to do horseback riding, and this may be the port for us to do so. Thanks in advance.

  4. Going on Carnival Sunshine July 31. Wife and I have snorkeled a number of times, but kids, 12 & 13, have not, only in swimming pool. These are our four ports, all new for us (yeah!). San Juan is probably out because my wife was a Spanish major and now teaches English as a Second language-she is looking to take in the culture there. I've read all the relevant threads from the last 6 months. What I've seen is Grand Turk may be our best bet. St. Maarten gets mixed reviews here. Haven't really found anything on St. Kitts. So what is best? And do you have recommendations for specific venders? Or places to snorkel from shore? We have had good success using external providers rather than ship excursions, but I would take specific Carnival suggestions as well.

  5. I want to second the recommendation for Eagle Ray, and for the 3 reef dive. It was the best snorkeling my wife and I have done. Everyone else in our boat only did the two reef dive, so at the third reef, it was just my wife and me along with the guide. He was awesome. Once he discovered I liked to dive down deep, he would find things and take me to them. He was very knowledgable about the fish and coral, and began to tell us about them once he found out my wife was a middle school teacher. Even though it was cloudy and rained some, it was wonderful, and a really top notch outfit. I' looking for someone like that for our cruise this summer, and came across your question. Our Cozumel snorkel was Nov. 2014. I highly recommend Eagle Ray.
