  1. We just disembarked yesterday, the earliest departure was 6:00 am. You can rent a car in Anchorage but you have to get there. It was for us about 1 1/2 hours and we left the ship at 7:10 am. There are no car rentals in Whittier you have to go to Anchorage by bus. We bought a transfer with our cruise. when you get to the airport the car rental agencies are also there. You can take the train to Denali also from Whittier, I do not know if it also stops in anchorage. In College Fiord the last sea day we arrived at 5:00 into this fiord, it was so amazing, for us more dynamic than Glacier Bay. We had 5:30 dining and gave up our dining time to enjoy this experience. it was clear blue sky, you could see the tops of all the mountIns and we were told they only get about 6 days like this in a season. It was amazing.
  2. We just got off the Star yesterday, it would appear rudder problems are a past issue. We had smooth sailings with best most personable Captain Tuvo. Great weather made every port on time and there was no chatter on the ship of any problem. So, continue your plans for your future cruise, smooth sailings to all.
  3. We were on the Star Princess and arrived in Skagway on May 30. The slide did not happen in Skagway pier area it was on a train tunnel and rail up the mountain route. Our wonderful Captain Tuvo announced very early that all trains were cancelled. The tour desk offered bus tours but remember if you are taking a bus tour or train entering Canada you must have your passport with you. We did overhear conversations that when people booked at the tours offeried on the dock they had to return to the ship to get their passports. The conversation by the locals on land was that the rails would be repaired within a day but they must have a rail inspection and that person had to be bought in and that could take a day or 2 more. This train trip is so worth taking. No matter what tour we book we risk it being cancelled for a variety of reasons. That being said book what you really want to experience and be willing to accept a change if you have to. Our cruise was 100% GREAT. If you have question about the Vancouver to Anchorage tour please ask me.
  4. My sister has many beautiful saree's and when we travelled the Caribbean we wore Them for formal night. They are so beautiful we received many lovely compliments. Enjoy your cruise.
