  1. We sailed Carnival Pride last summer, after mostly sailing Princess and HAL. We picked it for the routing and the price, but we really did not like the ship and their on board customer service is terrible. I maybe would go with them again, if it was a bargain and a good routing, But I wouldn't go back on the Pride. Breaking bathrooms and aircon issues all over the ship, and the worst front desk I have ever come across in 20 years of cruising. The food was okay, but even the staff in some of the bars were really rude.
  2. Yes, sorry I should have said under the cafe (not under the pool deck!)
  3. I would stick to the summer, as although you won't see the Northern lights, you miss a lot of the scenery in the winter with the short hours of daylight. We have done 2 Norwegian routes, a 14 day on HAL ex Amsterdam which went right up to the Arctic Circle, and we saw the midnight sun. That stopped at Bergen, Geiranger, Stavanger, Alesund, Honningsvag and Flam. Last year we did a 10 night Carnival ex Dover. The ship was disappointing as expected, but we did it for the routing which was great. As well as Bergen and Stavanger, the new ports for us were Olden, Molde and Skjolden and we loved all of those. The scenery in Olden & Skjolden is stunning, and the sail in through the Fjords in amazing too. Molde is great for going to see the The Atlantic Road.
  4. I also have a 50% offer on the Silhouette. The only issue that puts me off is that most of the Sky Suites are on deck 12, under the cafe and pool deck, and i've read they are quite noisy during the day and night.
  5. Dubrovnik and Split are 2 of my favourite cities in Europe, and i've been to each 2 or 3 times. Personally I love just wandering around, and taking in the atmosphere, but I know a lot of people like to have a guide to hear all the historical information. For Dubrovnik I would recommend walking the city walls, taking the cable car and/or the taking the 15 minute ferry trip to Lokrum island. Lokrum is much quieter with gardens, wild rabbits and swimming spots. Split is a lovely maze of pretty pedestrian streets you can enjoy getting lost in, obviously seeing the Diocletian's Palace on the way. The waterfront area sometimes has market stalls, and it's worth walking up to the city view point on Marjan hill. If you are only in Split for a day I honestly would explore the city, rather than going to a beach. But if you want to go to an island with beaches Brac would probably be best, and it's about an hour on the ferry (a smaller private boat may be slower or quicker) If you like what you see in the 2 days you could consider a small boat cruise that spends a week exploring the smaller islands of Croatia. I've done those twice, and the islands are all stunning.
  6. Thank you, that's very useful information I tried putting the Uber route in before I posted, and it said they did not operate in this area. Was there a ride share pick up area at the port?
  7. I was looking at the Move Up price for a Celebrity Suite on the Silhouette, and it says the suite has a 'Private, spacious balcony with hot tub' ..... but i'm fairly sure there is no hot tub on those balconies.
  8. I am looking at the Move up offer on the Silhouette from a Concierge Balcony to a Sky Suite Can I please check... 1- We had gratuities included, would we now have to pay extra if we move up? 2 -I think reading back I understand, we would not get extra Captains Club points? 3 - We would be able to use the Retreat lounge & Sundeck, and Illumina? I haven't bid that high, because I don't really like the location of the Sky Suites on deck 12, under the cafe.
  9. We would also love info on getting a taxi, if anyone has done this? If there are plenty at the port, and the rough cost?
  10. Could anyone who has checked in via the Celebrity app recently, let me know which documents you need to upload before you can secure a boarding time? Thank you
  11. Tough choice, but I would go for the 2nd option. We really enjoyed the ports of Geiranger, Alesund and Eijfjord. Although it is a shame to miss Flam.
  12. When you were in Lisbon before did you train the train out to Estoril and Cascais? I agree with sleepingcat the scenery in some parts of the Algarve is beautiful, and easy to explore with a rental car. If you especially want a city, Seville would be my pick.
  13. We found some public bathrooms in most towns, although they sometimes require coins. I have some medical issues as well, and if necessary I just asked in a restaurant or hotel. Everyone speaks good English and was very helpful. You don't really need it for Norway, but for some places I find it helpful to carry a medical card, so you might want to consider getting one of those. Our itinerary was mostly different to yours, but there are public bathrooms in Bergen and Alesund (I remember one free one in each of those ports, and others where you needed to pay)
  14. We rented from Sixt who show the cruise terminal as a location, however on the morning of pick-up they emailed to change to to Belfast City Airport pick-up instead,,,,,, which was about 10 minutes in a taxi. Luckily the local tourist information desk at the cruise terminal were really helpful, and called a taxi for us. Sixt took us back to the cruise terminal at the end of the day. I would say I didn't think the customer service from Sixt was great, considering the last minute change, but that car was fine.
  15. We hired a car, and explored the coast, and it was really beautiful. My vote would be for the Causeway tour.
  16. Oh yes sorry, I thought the OP was going to Kristiansund
  17. Alesund - First visit we just walked up to the viewpoint. 2nd time we took this beautiful ferry trip recommended by the local tourist office, stunning coastal scenery and very inexpensive. https://travellikethelocals.trekksoft.com/en_GB/activity/57137/rundtur-til-nordoyane Stavanger - You can book your own boat trip that goes past Pulpit Rock https://rodne.no/fjordcruise/fjordcruise-til-preikestolen/ In Olden we just walked along the Fjord a little bit, and had ice cream in a lovely little cafe. We didn't stop in Kristiansand, but I would recommend The Atlantic Road, which we did from Molde instead.
  18. They would need to put a time limit on it, such as 'If you leave unattended items for more than an hour' People should be able to go to the bar to get a drink, or go for a quick swim, without risking having their things removed.
  19. We just walked around, which we really enjoyed. Plenty of different directions you can go and see different things, the llama farm, views of the fjord, waterfalls etc etc....... but can't help with excursions, sorry.
  20. If you are still having problems we got great information from the Tourism office last year re Olden They answer this email address in the winter mail@nordfjord.no Here is some general information about trips from Olden: ''The public bus to Briksdal Glacier run from mid June to mid August. You can pay with credit card. Here is some information from 2021, we have not received the updates yet: https://www.nordfjord.no/en/glacier-bus Then you have to hire a car in Olden or contact Olden Taxi for transport to Oldedalen valley and Briksdal. Then the Troll car could be booked at www.briksdalsbre.no, but they will probably prioritize all the cruise passengers who have booked via the ship, since they will be a big group. They do not mix cruisepassengers with other guests. Each troll car have 7 seats. If you would like to hire a car in Olden, you can send an e-mail to Hertz Stryn, if you book here, the company will arrange it so that the rental car will be located in Olden: stryn@st.yx.no Take also a look at Olden Cruise, they have excursions or bus trips both to Briksdal Glacier and to Loen where you will find Loen Skylift: ''
  21. Flam we did a few years ago now, but I did enjoy the Flam railway. We arranged it directly ourselves, not on a ships tour. Molde - We rented a car in June 2022 and drove the Atlantic Road, would recommend seeing that area even if you take a ships excursion if you dont want to drive yourself. Alesund - First visit we just walked up to the viewpoint. 2nd time we took this beautiful ferry trip recommended by the local tourist office, stunning coastal scenery and very inexpensive. https://travellikethelocals.trekksoft.com/en_GB/activity/57137/rundtur-til-nordoyane Stavanger - You can book your own boat trip that goes past Pulpit Rock https://rodne.no/fjordcruise/fjordcruise-til-preikestolen/ Bergen - We like to take the funicular up to the viewpoint, you can just walk there. Would go early to avoid the lines.
  22. We stopped in Alesund last year, and did this boat trip. It's just a ferry really, but the tourist office recommended it, and we loved it. The scenery was stunning, and the modern ferry was 3/4 empty, plus is was very inexpensive. The round trip was 2 hours 40 mins https://travellikethelocals.trekksoft.com/en_GB/activity/57137/rundtur-til-nordoyane In Molde we rented a car, and drove the Atlantic road.
  23. Have a look at the Mercure in Bloomsbury (part of Sofitel group), seems to be around £700 for those dates. I've stayed there 3 times before and it's a great location, 15-20 mins walk to Covent Garden. It's not super fancy, but it's nice and better than a Premier Inn.
  24. Windsor is definitely worth a visit if you haven't been before, or Marlow if you like somewhere smaller (would recommend eating at the Ivy Garden there) If you don't mind being 25 mins past Southampton I would recommend Brockenhurst in the New Forest. The Pig hotel there is excellent.
