You'll be seated either right away, or within a few minutes. Plenty of tables for two...that's not an issue at all. Dinner should take 1-1.5 hrs.

Thank you. -

I am aware of that, but that wasn't my question.... -
upcharge menu items in specialty restaurants? I've read conflicting responses to this question.

I get it completely wrt the Caribbean. I live in South Florida and have been cruising mainly in the Caribbean for much of my life. The ports do start to look alike and we have repeated most of them at this point. I guess I am referring to things like the shows being repeated in addition to the ports.
-
that repeat the same itineraries....rather than consecutive cruises on different ships (or the same ship that changes the next itinerary? Every time we do a 7 night cruise, I read about so many people that do the former...and no offense to anyone, but I always wondered why. I mean, I hate getting of the ship after a week as much as the next guy...but why not mix it up?

I'm a 64 year old male, have always stayed in suites, and I wear either black or dark blue jeans to Luminae every night (except on Chic nights) with a nice shirt. I will modestly add I think I am pretty stylishly dressed lol, and I don't think the material on my legs and butt negatively impacts anyone's dining experience lol. We rarely go outside at night between cocktails, dinner and shows...so locale or temperature outside is irrelevant. In fact it's usually fairly chilly in Edge class ships at night. That said, maybe it's time I heed the advice of some others and grow up into a different type of fabric (like described above). 😉

I didn't say I didn't like her. I said, after I praised her profusely, that I thought the fanfare was over the top for a cruise ship captain. And then I praised her again, lol. She is an amazing woman and I enjoyed sailing with her.

Not sure why you think I wouldn’t like Captain Kirk. I didn’t say I didn’t like Captain Kate.

We sailed with her back in October. She was pretty amazing in how she interacted with everyone she met. Personable, patient and present. That said, and this may get me in a little hot water here, but I couldn't help but think the "rock star" aura that she seemed to carry was a bit strange, over the top IMO...the scheduled appearances around the ship, the book signings, hundreds of people waiting in line for a photo-op. It almost made her look like more of a personality than the Captain. Don't get me wrong...she was wonderful and I am sad to hear of her leaving, but that said, there is something to be said about a more "captainish" captain of a ship carrying nearly 5,000 passengers and crew..

For a 7 night Retreat booking (done while onboard), I believe on my last cruise it was a $300 OBC but a full deposit? Does anyone know if that is correct? Thanks!!

We board her on 2/8. We first cruised on the Apex last February and loved it so much we booked the same suite for this year. Look forward to following your comments...enjoy!

Celebrity Beyond - who's it aimed for?
CruisinShips replied to cbowls30's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Been on both. While the Eclipse is nice ship, it's an older ship and needs a refresh. If you're a Retreat guest, there is NO comparison IMO. The Beyond (Retreat or not) is just newer, modern, immaculate, and larger ship. As many people here say...for port intensive cruises, the ship makes less of a difference than it does on Caribbean or TA cruises. -
Can you wait until the final cruise payment date, or does it need to be purchased within a certain time frame after booking the cruise? Thanks

Cafe Al Bacio is Not Used As The Way It Should Be
CruisinShips replied to gordylad's topic in Celebrity Cruises
The fact that it's intentionally situated in the heart of the ship, laid out in such a way so as to promote comfy seating in the ideal people-watching space, should tell us that Cafe El Bacio is exactly what it was designed and envisioned to be. -
Good to know. Thanks!

If one loves Edge class ships, the small differences in each shouldn't impact your enjoyment. We thought our cruise last year on the Apex (or first Edge class) was the most amazing cruise we have had...until we cruised on the Beyond in October. We will be back on the Apex in February, and the one after that will be the Ascent. Bottom line...they are all fantastic...particular in the Retreat IMO.

Good idea!

Retreat experience & pricing between ship classes
CruisinShips replied to SEC Man's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Our first cruise with Celebrity was in a CS on the Eclipse. We enjoyed it, but aside from the nice cabin, a very good experience with Luminae, and an attentive butler, we were disappointed with the lack of a sun deck, and Michael's Club felt like a drab, soulless place. Since then, we have only been in CS on Edge class and have loved the entire experience each time. That said, I may be inclined to try one of the refurbished S class ships if the itinerary was good and the pricing warranted it. On a side note, we booked our first SS for 2026 on the Ascent...the pricing difference between a SS and a CS for a 10 night Caribbean cruise was like $8000 for the two of us!! Crazy. -
The most recent video, which I watched last night, while long (an hour) was actually a good one to watch.

Has Celebrity paused Moveup bidding on certain cruises?
CruisinShips replied to CruisinShips's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Well, I just tried again, and lo and behold, the moveup became available. That said, the minimum bid needed to move up is too high for me. We are already in a CS and I always like to see if we can get a great deal on anything better (we have never stayed in anything better). And for what it's worth, I have NEVER gotten an email inviting me to bid, but I have always been able to...even when the ship seems to be full (or the higher categories are fully booked). -

CruisinShips replied to CruisinShips's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Thanks. This is the first time I this has happened like this. There is no error message or message of any kind after entering. Appreciate the info. -
For the first time, I am unable to place a bid on a cruise I have booked and paid in full for that is about 2.5 mos away. Enter name and booking number and nothing happens. I'm wondering if there is a reason for this...I know the cruise is pretty well booked up, but that has never prevented them from taking bids in the past. Does anyone have any insights?
