  1. Singles n solos getogether 6pm Vintages tonight first Sea day. Veterans haven't seen yet. House band may be tropical pleasure as they are playing pool deck. Also glitzy duo in Centum,Kawa duo in Schooners, guitar with Eugene Colony club, piano bar Schooners with Jayne. Pub has Sebastian.
  2. We bought the drink package when it was about $105aud so no carry on wine this cruise. We use our 28degrees card for on-board no exchange fees etc...but with the package I can guarantee we will have a zero balance at the end. Haven't had a coffee yet...let you know tomorrow. Enjoy your cruise.
  3. Hi all. We are onboard . So good to be back on Royal, check in a breeze about 10 minutes. If anyone cruising on Briiliance soon needs any info I will try to help. Don't have ship WiFi but will have my data in all the ports. Beautiful day in Sydney today.
  4. Haha so close could touch it right now.Just about to eclipse the bridge. We are off to find a pub!!
  5. Will do Geoff. Busy here today....Grand today,Brilliance tomorrow...we just did the free Opera house tour.....protests,it's all happening. Think there is a 7 bridges run tomorrow too.
  6. Sitting right out front of opera house. Tugs are there but still tied up. Grand looks lovely. Windy and choppy here on the harbour today.
  7. We are on this one. I can confirm that we have 2 days in Hobart, no vax or testing required for the cruise.
  8. We paid around $103AUD each, first time ever buying a drink package, but when I costed out a bottle of wine, 3 alcoholic drinks, a couple of coffees and some water in USD onboard, converted to AUD we are ahead. Don't want that conversion shock at the end. The only great thing about Royals package is they include everything, tea/coffee, water etc. Carnival Cheers do not and it is around $116AUD I think. Anyway, it's done, cost just as much as our fare haha!! If the price had not come down to something reasonable we were going alcohol free in protest!
  9. Have look at UBank, online banking app, they use NAB license. Free overseas transactions and ATM's (unless the ATM charges)
  10. Did you get the latest survey from Princess? For some reason I got one today, havent got any cruises booked with them nor have plans to do so in the near future, but I filled in my thoughts. It was about the Princess Plus and Premier and choices of Ambassadors. I said Celebrities don't make me choose cruiselines.....and neither do free gym classes, crap desserts and cheap wine.
  11. Best night ever Mr Walker, I watched it on my 12volt TV on the edge of the lake in the bush near Forster!! Eddy sure was a good example of a great No1! Love all those boys, we went to their last home game against the Cowboys, such a great night. I was on the streets in 1991 for their win, and on the Pacific Sky in 2003, can't take Penrith outta this girl!
  12. Such sad news, RIP Mr Gut. Thoughts are with Mrs Gut and family. I will be thinking of you Gut when we step foot in Tasmania in a few weeks, your favourite place to cruise.
  13. Great advice John, I have called often over the years we have been using this insurance to clarify any changes in wording, they have always been great to talk to over the phone.
  14. I can only guide you re ANZ Complimentary Insurance. The Booklet I refer to covers these cards ELIGIBLE CARDS: The complimentary insurance outlined in this booklet is available to the eligible beneficiaries of the following credit cards: • ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum • ANZ Frequent Flyer Black • ANZ Rewards Platinum • ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures • ANZ Rewards Black • ANZ Platinum Do you have one of these cards? If so, page 14 defines Overseas as "outside of Australia and its territories, and includes when you are aboard a foreign registered cruise vessel in Australian territorial waters" Therefore further down on whats covered, page 21 Overseas Emergency, medical and evacuation are unlimited. And yes, cancellation is capped at $20,000 so you need to work out if that is good for your situation. For us, our cruise holidays are never more than that.
  15. Was just on Splendor from Sydney, took two bottles, one each and daughter carried one on as well. All in carry on, none of us were asked to take it out to check etc, through scanner and on our way.
  16. Sounds good, we are on the mid morning flight from Port, fingers crossed it isn't delayed.....like our last ones have.....fog, bats flying into propellers, unable to get engineers at late notice. We have hired a car in Hobart for the first day, done this a few times before and go somewhere different each time, you are welcome to join us if you have no plans. Will email you xx
  17. Hey Cheryle, Andy n I will see you onboard😁 Are you flying down on the Saturday? Hopefully we will call to Eden.
  18. Oh my god the memories, I will add the Family Inn at Ryde, and the Comb and Cutter at Blacktown, saw Cold Chisel, INXS, Mental as Anything, The Church and all the others there......when I was 16yrs😇 I am a Penrith girl so the old Leagues club, Castle Hill RSL, saw Divinyls there....Cold Chisel's Last Stand, ahhh. Love going back to Penrith, daughter and grandkids there, but here on the Mid North Coast we have beach, rainforest, rivers, vineyards, 4hrs drive to Sydney, 51/2 hrs to Brisbane, can fly to either and now Melbourne from our regional airport. Drive through our small country town and every car is a ute, a kelpie on the back, people wear their Akubra's down the street, I would never move back to a city and my husband has never lived anywhere else.
  19. Thankyou so so much for this info. We are flying in on that Saturday morning and staying the night before boarding Brilliance on Sunday. Hubby and I were just discussing what we would do for the day. He has never been inside the Opera house and I haven't since a school excursion in the late 60's. I have checked out the website and will register for further info. Wondered why the prices were through the roof for that Saturday at Circular Quay and The Rocks area but couldn't find anything that was on to up the prices. Thanks again
  20. Totally agree, we do the same. ANZ Black card, Qantas FF and everyday reward, and Accor all linked together. We have earned over 2000 QFF points just staying in Accor hotels this year, plus the points on the CC card and the Accor points, we can just about get another free night. Comes in handy for those Sydney stays$$$. All the hotels in Sydney are up over $400 for a stay we need in October, but I have ours for free!! Have you discovered Qantas shopping? Click through their site, order as usual and they add up the points, mostly it's $1 for $1, but lots are triple points. Everything is so expensive these days, gotta save where you can, and like you say if you have the time and knowledge it works. I am patiently waiting for the dates for Sydney to Singapore flights we need, good to know you got Business, we have points to use!
  21. Took my own grass fed butter on Splendor a couple of weeks ago, had it in carry on, no questions asked. They serve this disgusting tasting "butter" in the dining room, it's a mix of vegetable oils mixed with something. If you don't eat seed oils/margarine etc you will taste the difference. Have also taken long life cream in carry on, no probs.
  22. Hi Cheryle, as stated above yes to a bottle each of wine, corkage of $15AUD if drank in public bar or restaurant, but.....they never came and asked if we were in a bar with the wine, but did charge in the dining room when we took a full bottle in. We haven't cruised Royal this year, but from the prices I have seen, then converting to AUD, Royal would be more expensive. Can compare in October. Bottles of Wine on Carnival from around $35AUD, spirits around $12 to $13 AUD, popular cocktails $16AUD and beers from about $8.50. Prices on par with our Pacific Adventure cruise in January.
  23. No idea re themed clothes, although I am sure there will be all sorts of get ups! Loved watching all the dress ups for 80's night, so many mullets, lime green track suits etc. We sat in the lounges outside the Casino, listening to the great band playing 80's and watched everyone walking past. Those cruises look like fun, Xmas decorations, snow, carols and themed food, and no need to pay Xmas/New Year prices😀
  24. Hey Geoff, have friends and relo's that will never cruise Splendor again, but we love it! Carnival product suits us these days, dress up, dress down, dress up for theme nights or don't, no one cares. We had an interior Spa cabin just recently, so good to have access to the thermal suites and a secret huge balcony at the front that we only ever saw another couple, and a little lift to take you up to the spa area so you can wear your robe and barefeet! We don't find it tired at all, have spent 16 days relocation in 2019 and booked on Singapore to Sydney in 2024. Huge big lounges for comedy and shows, a piano bar, music all around the ship at night, a great sports bar just inside the casino where all the footy was on. Plenty of places that are quiet, we like the lounges and pods forward, that deck goes all around the front. We also loved Luminosa as well, a beautiful smaller ship.
