  1. Hi JoAnneNYI, You may insure a refundable deposit. Your goal is to buy the plan within the "Time Sensitive" deadline in order to get the Waiver of the Pre-existing Medical Condition Exclusion. Steve Dasseos
  2. Hi Deliver42, I don't know the details of every plan out there, but the ones I know all include Trip Interruption coverage. You might find this helpful. I didn't plagiarize it - I'm the author: Q. How does Trip Interruption work? A. Trip Interruption is similar to Trip Cancellation, but it happens on your trip. Technically, Trip Cancellation refers to a pre-departure cancellation of your trip while Trip Interruption happens after you leave home on your trip. Trip Interruption coverage reimburses you the unused prepaid non-refundable value of your trip if you are forced to catchup because you missed a portion of your trip for a covered reason. Or it could reimburse you the unused prepaid non-refundable value of your trip plus pay the cost of one-way airfare home if you are forced to return home for a covered reason. For example, you get hit by a cement truck while you’re walking across the street in London – did you remember that they said “Look to the right first”? If not, it’s likely you will be interrupting your trip and returning home earlier than planned. There’s another scenario that could cause a trip interruption where you don’t return home: You’re on a trip and something happens to you medically. You end up being hospitalized or restricted from traveling by physician you are seeing at the time. Two days later you recover. The cost of re-joining your cruise or tour is a trip interruption. Important: In the case of Bad Weather & other Natural Disasters, there usually has to be a 12 – 24 hour shutdown (depending on the plan) of Common Carrier services (ie – the airport has to be shut down for 12 – 24 consecutive hours) to have a covered Trip Interruption. 3. Hi jbrinkm, Travel insurance is priced by your age on the day you buy the policy and not your future age. I ask everyone that calls or emails us "How old are you today?" and they usually reply with "I'll be ____ when we take the trip." Steve Dasseos
  4. Hi CruisematicVA, There are no trip cancellation insurance plans (annual nor per trip) without any medical coverage. Steve Dasseos
  5. Hi Vagabond Knight, I was happy to help. Thanks for letting me know that you needed help with your IMG claim. Steve Dasseos
  6. Hi Vagabond Knight, Did you get my message yesterday that your claim was paid in full? Steve Dasseos
  7. Hi klfrodo, Thanks CDN Polar for your explanation. Baggage Delay coverage is to give you money to buy things you need while waiting for the baggage to be delivered. > What about any souvenirs I may have brought back with me that can't be replaced? Some of these items may even be high end. It's best to put these in your carry-on. Steve Dasseos
  8. Hi jclinard, The reason Baggage Delay doesn't cover the return flight home is because the traveler's other possessions, including clothes, are at home and there's no need to buy these items while waiting for the baggage to be delivered. Steve Dasseos
  9. Hi erdufylla, Here are the details on the Geo Blue Trekker plan: https://tripinsurancestore.com/geo-blue-trekker-travel-medical-plans/ Steve Dasseos
  10. Hi crystalspin, One drawback to relying on the credit card's trip insurance is they don't cover pre-existing medical conditions of your self, traveling companions or a non-traveling family members. As for insuring the trip cost, with some trip cancellation plans, you are not penalized for pre-existing medical conditions if you don't insure the full trip cost. This means you can insure the 10% or 20% the HAL plans doesn't refund you if you cancel your trip for a covered reason. I hope this makes sense. Steve Dasseos
  11. Hi SimplyAlbert, Thanks for contacting me about your claim. I was happy to help you. Steve Dasseos

  14. Hi hrslvr142, Are you covered by Medicare with a supplement you bought on your own, have Tricare or are on a former employers' retiree health plan? Or do you have Advantage plans? Steve Dasseos
  15. Hi Native Floridian 26, I haven't seen any travel insurance price increases for almost 18 months. One of our companies lowered its prices four months ago by up to 45%. Steve Dasseos
  16. Hi Thwockage, Who told you that IMG issues a "voucher"? I've never heard of them doing that. When you are past their 10 day Free Look period and if you aren't filing a claim on your original trip, IMG will allow you to alter the trip dates at any time prior to departure. Travel dates cannot be extended past a departure date that's more than 2 years from the original purchase date. IMG must be contacted prior to the original departure date. If you bought your policy from us, there's something else you can do regarding the date change, so you would need to contact us about it. Steve Dasseos
  17. Hi klfrodo, If the policy was purchased at least one day before he / she fell and broke 2 bones near their ankle, and the fall wasn't related to an excluded Pre-Existing Medical Condition in the Lookback period, I expect their Trip Cancellation claim is a covered claim. In most plans, but not all, the Trip Cancellation coverage starts 12:01 am of the day after purchase. Steve Dasseos
  18. Hi Joan, You might find this thread here on Cruise Critic helpful: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2960032-annual-policy-or-singletrip/#comment-66176986 I myself haven't found an Annual Trip Cancellation plan that is good enough for me to sell due to their plan limitations and with what's needed to cover the changes in travel since Covid started. Steve Dasseos
  19. Hi Kyle, You need to check your policy's wording. If you bought it from a Travel Insurance Agent, or someone else, like a Travel Agent, that earned a commision from your sale, in my opinion, they are morally obligated to help you with your claim. Steve Dasseos
  20. Hi Vagabond Knight, Thanks for contacting me. I'll let you know after I hear back from IMG. Steve Dasseos
  21. Hi SimplyAlbert, I don't know who you are by your Cruise Critic ID, so would you email me at steve@tripinsurancestore.com ? At any given time, each of us are helping more than a few people with their claims from all of our companies. You might be one of the people that I have been asking IMG to explain their denial based on the timeline of doctor's visits, diagnoses compared to the date of their Trip Cancellation, but I don't know for sure. Steve Dasseos
  22. Hi tj_shopper, Will you call us about this at 816-282-6858 so we can help you? I don't know whjo you are by you ID. I looked at all our customers who live in Frankfort, IL and I don't see that any of them have had any claims. Steve Dasseos
  23. Hi SimplyAlbert, We deal with this everyday from every company and it's frustrating. To Deanna, Kim & I, it feels like some of the claims people don't even look at what was submitted. Unfortunately, IMG and all other insurance companies first laid trained people off during the pandemic and later hired new, not as experienced, people since. Plus, there continues to be turnover so, in my opinion, more of the not as experienced people get hired. And, sometimes when documents come in, they don't get entered into the system in a timely manner. Let us know and we'll keep helping you with your claim. Steve Dasseos PS - I wrote this on July 14, 2022: https://tripinsurancestore.com/blog/why-are-travel-insurance-claims-taking-so-long-to-process/
  24. Hi Coral, I'm on the Azamara Onward until Nov 30th. Call me after Dec 4th and I'll tell you why I stopped doing business with them over 20 years ago. Steve Dasseos
