  1. This was in the news a few weeks ago. The information was for the Moderna vaccine. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2021/01/12/health/moderna-covid-vaccine-protection/index.html Protection may last longer, but the vaccine is new and it is hard to predict how long the effects will last. There are also new Covid-19 variants that may evade the current vaccines, so we may need to get annual Covid boosters just like we get annual flu shots.
  2. DW and I are fortunate and have been healthy all year. We are getting our second dose later this week. I have a friend who has caught Covid-19 twice; once in April and once in November. Both times were verified by testing. Natural immunity lasts about 6 months. Immunity from the vaccine is expected to last a least a year.
  3. I I kept the same booking number. The perks were changed to the new V&V offer including the prepaid gratuities.
  4. We re-fared today and saved $1000. The first quote I got didn't include pre-paid hotel service charges, but I pointed out that the website shows that as a bonus through 5 January.
  5. I have tried to call my "new" PCC several times, but had no luck. I used email and have been getting very timely responses.
  6. A few years ago I made a reservation online on a weekend and then called my PCC on Monday. She had to cancel my original booking and then create a new one.
  7. I booked a cruise for next July. Venice to Barcelona. We had future cruise deposits that expire in Oct 2021, so there is nothing more out of pocket until April. Now I can dream and plan for next year. The room selection was also great. I got a room exactly where I want it.
  8. I get these from time to time. I took advantage of an offer for a 17 day trip to Hawaii out of Seattle. I upgraded to an ocean view. I was able to use another promotion with Amex at the time along with airline miles for airfare. My cost for the stateroom, taxes, insurance and air fare was about $1000 for 2 of us. ($500 per person). It was a great trip and I would do another if I can fit it in my schedule and I feel safe to cruise.
  9. This sounds like the casino rate offer that I received. If they check with their PCC or TA they may find they are also eligible for $250 in casino play plus free drinks while in the casino. The offer of casino play must be redeemed in the casino. They should have received an email or offer in the mail with the details.
  10. I agree. I trusted my PCC. I have tried to find a TA that I could trust and provide a discount. I wasn't able, so I used the PCC. She was very responsive both by phone and email. As for discounts, I found several ways to save money on a cruise and associated travel. (Flight ease, FCD, travel cards, Amex, and sales.) To each his own. I didn't intend this to become another TA vs PCC thread.
  11. The first thing I did was to check on the on the status of my last PCC. She has left HAL. The second thing I did was to start this thread. The last thing was to greet my new PCC. I told her how great the last PCC was, and that I looked forward to working with her when I felt safe to travel again.
  12. I have had a great PCC for the last several years. She has always responded quickly and accurstely via email and phone. Today I received an email from a new PCC. Has anyone else been reassigned to a different PCC?
  13. I received this offer last week. I looked it over, considered it,and then decided you can't pay me to be on a cruise until there is a vaccine. My next cruise won't be until late 2021 or sometime in 2022. I may book one for late next year so that I can start planning. Stay well everyone, Taba

  15. I knew I didn't have much time to spare, so I tried to reduce risks in other ways: insurance, Flightease, direct flight, and HAL transfer.

  17. I was havig secnd thughts on my decision, but it was ether flyng the day of departite or not at all. I had a "it is what it is" attitude until the bus drove off without us.
  18. Never run with scissors, never take a 3 hour tour, and never fly in the day of the cruise. I had to work on the day before the cruise, so I scheduled our flight to FLL for the day of the cruise. I have never done that before, because you never know when a flight will be delayed. We had to be on board the ship by 4:00. The plane was scheduled to land at 2:36. That gave me 20 minutes to pick up luggage, 20 minutes to get to the ship, 10 minutes to check in at the port and 30 minutes of buffer in case anything happened.   19. After I book my reflexible fares on flightease, I also check the current price on the airline's website. Then I know what the base fare outside flightease is. I then monitor the price on the airlines website. If the price drops below what it was on on the day I booked with flightease, I go back to flightease to rebook. That way I won't accidently cancel my flights when the prices are higher.
  20. The advantage of booking early with a refundable fare is that you have better selection of staterooms, but if you rebook, you can keep your room.
  21. You can if you select a flexible fare. You can also monitor airfare costs, and cancel and rebook your flights if you find a better schedule or price.
  22. Thanks. This will be our 3rd time in a Neptune suite. We love all the extras that come with the Neptune suite, especially breakfast at the Pinnacle Grill. We received the offer at 1:45 and by 2:00 I had accepted the offer. I had already decided the price I was willing to pay, before any offers came.
  23. We received an upsell offer from a veranda to a Neptune suite. yesterday which is 23 days before the trip. The price was reasonable, so we accepted the offer. There are three of us, but we only had to pay the extra fee for two of us. We are looking forward to the extra space and also extra amenities. We booked the cruise directly through HAL so the offer came via email.
  24. I email my PCC and alway get a quick and useful response. It doesn't matter whether it is for a quote, question, or change to a reservation.
  25. That is an issue with the United credit card, but not with the Delta credit card. I often pay for my Delta flights with non-Delta credit cards, especially for work. I still get the free checked bag benefit for myslef and others in my party as long as I have the e-ticket linked to my frequent flyer account.
