We sailed it in the Med Jan this year with twins aged 3yrs. I will list our findings:
Cabins spotless, new boat
Room service prompt.
Our negative findings:
Food mediocre. No variety. It all tasted the same. School dinners came to mind. If you want anything decent you have to go a la carte. You have to stand in line for a juice, coffee or a cup of tea at breakfast. Same at lunch but they lock the juice machine so if you want juice ...you pay. Tough with kids.
There is no family dining area. Its like a scrum to get a seat at meal times in the self service restaurant. We were pushed about so much we opted for room service despite its very limited menu of about 5 items.
The pools are VERY COLD!
There is NO BABY SITTING OR CHILDCARE AT NIGHT UNTIL 9.15PM. There is only formal dining at night and we had a really stressful time with our toddlers as the service was also so slow.
Most of the staff are Indonesian. They smile nicely but understand very little.
Miniclub for the kids is good but out of 4 computer game stations, only 1 was working due to lack of sofware.Staff had been requesting more for some time. MINICLUB CLOSES 12NOON TO 3PM WHEN YOU ARE AT SEA. WHAT DO YOU DO WITH YOUR KIDS WHEN IT IS COLD AND RAINING?? It re-opens 3-6, closing just as you want to eat in peace.
There is no indoor cinema and only 1 English speaking movie all day.
The nightly shows will bore teenagers although there is a nice disco. Beware the drinks are frighteningly expensive everywhere on ship, even a coke.
There is very little for older kids who were bored out of their minds. At least we had a play ground for the toddlers. We noticed other boats had covered pools and water chutes. Also things like icecream and soft drinks are NOT freely available on this boat as they are elsewhere.
Overall we felt that Musica was aimed at the older generation. There was a token gesture towards children but that was all. It is a beautiful boat but there is a lot of penny pinching on small details that make all the difference to a good holiday. Embarkation was far too long and we were given sepArate cabins instead of interconnecting. If you want interconnecting....MAKE SURE ITS WRITTEN ON YOUR TICKETS.
I spoke to lots of experienced cruisers during the holiday. They all said the same , the customer service is missing and it falls short of other ships. They wouldn't choose Musica again and neither would we.
