  1. Love the way they made it seem like you could just skip muster if you'd rather just get your drunk on.
  2. The two things that people seem to complain about the most on Jubilee, the food and the elevators, were two things I had no issue with. Not sure if it's all balcony cabins, or just something unique to the coves, but the bed was way too close to the window. I had heard before cruising that this was the case, but it was worse than I thought. Not even the skinniest person could climb into the bed on that side. To keep my DW and I from having to climb over each other in the middle of the night, I slept on the couch for seven nights. Deck layout was just weird to me. Took me much longer to get my bearings than on any other ship. It's like it was designed by a team of drunken monkeys throwing darts at the deck plans to decide what would go where. Wasn't a fan of the whole "wide open theater on the side of the ship" concept. I'll take a regular theater for shows, bingo, etc, any day. That central plaza area, or whatever it's called, would be best used by bands, and with the curtains open so people can enjoy the view. As far as Kyndall Fire, I thought she was kind of middle of the road as far as CDs go. I didn't see what others obviously see in her. Her "OK, bye" thing was cute the first hundred times, after that it was just annoying.
  3. That happened to us last year on Breeze. We had FTTF and wanted to drop our bags. When we got to the cabin the door was locked and we were just going to take our bags and go eat. Right then our steward showed up and let us in. He told us the room was ready and we could stay if we wanted, but the S&S cards wouldn't be available until 1:30. It was around noon by this time so we thanked him, but said we were hungry so we'd go get something to eat and be back after 1:30.
  4. Allure's the same way. Have to wonder what went into the thought process of whoever decided to put a smoking area there when there are plenty of more open areas nearby.
  5. I did the tour on Jubilee in December. Don't recall how much it cost, but it was reasonable. They brought out four different kinds of beer, one at a time. Glasses are small, but they'll keep bringing pitchers until you tell them to stop. At the end we got the certificate and two coupons for a free beer. I believe there were three or four opportunities to take the tour and I was able to book it through the app. The brew master let us know that he would be brewing the next day and a couple of us went by to watch and we were able to ask questions about the brewing process.
  6. I was on Jubilee in December. Fruit was pretty much cantaloupe and honeydew melon, bananas were available but only at breakfast, and Blue Iguana had watermelon. I don't recall seeing oranges and definitely no berries.
  7. Used it in Galveston a week ago and it needs to be improved for guests needing assistance. My wife has COPD and can't do the ramps anymore without getting seriously winded, so we decided for the first time to use a wheelchair to get her on and off the ship. Embarkation went OK, with the person assisting us taking us straight to our muster station. Debark was a different story. I set everything up in the app and requested assistance. When we got our luggage tags the note included even mentioned that we needed assistance. In the app, it said to wait on deck 7, 8 or 16 (This was on Jubilee). I needed an extra luggage tag, so I went to GS. After getting the tag I asked them if people needing assistance would be called and where would we go. I was told to ignore that and go straight to the Mermaid Bar on 6. We go there in the morning and wait. Finally we realize that people that showed up after us were being given wheelchairs ahead of us. I honestly thought that it was because most of them were being obnoxious and the crew wanted to get rid of them asap. Finally we're the last people there and right as I was about to ask why we hadn't been called, we were asked if we needed a wheelchair. The crew member running the show then told us that we should have told her when we arrived so she could put us on her handwritten list. I told her that I used digital debark and it said nothing about where to go or what to do, and I figured she would have been given a list since we were obviously in the computer as needing assistance. I got a shoulder shrug in response. Short version- Digital debark sucks if you need assistance because it doesn't give you any info on what you actually need to do.
  8. He won't see anything posted once he finishes his Ask Me Anything thread for the day on the social media site which shan't be named. He'll start another thread around 0700 or so EST tomorrow and I'm sure it's gonna be very entertaining.
  9. Looking forward to this as I'll be boarding the day you get back.
  10. Love Kelley's. I just ate lunch at the one in Pearland yesterday. One of the last good comfort food places left around here.
  11. Welcome to post covid cutbacks
  12. Well, I guess if I ever find myself on a cruise with the OP I'll make sure and have a DNR with me. That way if the worst happens they can just throw me in the freezer and the OP can keep the party going.
  13. Cruised on Breeze three times and never had a problem getting a table for two with YTD. Like jsglow said, we were seated at a four top a couple of times but it was still just the two of us.
  14. Rumor is that the owner of Katie's has political connections that helped kill this. This is incredibly short sighted of both him and the Wharves Board as the Texas being berthed there would have brought a lot of foot traffic to not only Katie's, but other businesses in the area. I follow the Battleship Texas Foundation on social media and from what they've said, Pier 19 wasn't the only Galveston location they were interested in and they have backup locations to choose from.
  15. RC is welcome to it. Been there three times and every time the vendors have gotten pushier and uglier. Last time they weren't holding back and were actually insulting people for not coming into their shops. Numerous people in the social media group for that particular cruise were saying the same thing. They're like Nassau vendors on steroids. I'll be there again in December and it's definitely going to be a stay on the ship day.
  16. Eastern. I live in Houston and mainly cruise from Galveston and always get to check in at 11:00pm
  17. I usually go for the Chicken Parm or the Branzino.
  18. What's funny is that they usually tell you about it in a thread where someone's asking about phone plans in other countries, can they text on the ship, etc. They have this weird air of superiority that compels them to tell you they don't use their phones, even when the thread is about the opposite. To paraphrase the old joke, how can you tell someone puts their phone in the safe on a cruise? Wait five minutes and they'll tell you.
  19. Galveston isn't that big so Uber or Lyft might be a reasonable option. Maybe pick a couple of things you'd like to do during the day like shopping on The Strand, Moody Gardens, Pleasure Pier. Maybe pick a hotel near a couple of decent restaurants that are within walking distance. If you do Uber, you're most likely never going to be more than 10 minutes from where you want to go so it shouldn't be too costly. Finally, Uber to the airport. Hope this helps. Good luck.
  20. I was on the Cozumel Bar Hop once and the tour guide warned us to never rent any kind of vehicle there. She said traffic's always bad and pretty much all you need to get a license there is a pulse. She brought it up after a scooter with a family of four on it zoomed past us. There are people who will tell you it's perfectly safe, they rent vehicles every time they're in Coz, etc, etc. That's awesome for them, but if you do a google search you can find plenty of accidents where cruisers ended up missing the ship or worse.
  21. It went away for a while after the new menus came out a couple of years ago, IIRC. I do remember John Heald saying there was enough of a backlash that they brought it back.
  22. I have a decision to make and hoped I could get some input here. I'll be on Jubilee in December and have FTTF. We normally park at Park N Cruise and walk across the street. On our last cruise, due to mobility issues, I dropped my wife and our luggage off at the terminal and then went to park. For that cruise, Breeze was the only Carnival ship in port so traffic wasn't bad at 10:00 am. For our upcoming cruise, Jubilee and Breeze will both be in port. How bad will traffic potentially be? I'm hoping I wouldn't have to wait half an hour in a line of cars to drop off my bags. My options are 1) Keep FTTF and hope I get lucky with traffic 2) Cancel FTTF and just pick a later time like 1:00pm when I check in to hopefully avoid the morning rush. I'm leaning towards #2 right now but would still like to hear from others about the traffic. Even though it's almost "not worth it" to get FTTF, we still get it so that we can get through security and check in quicker so my wife doesn't have to be on her feet for too long (She doesn't really need a wheelchair and would only use one as a very last resort. She just tires very easily), and to drop our carry on bags since we usually have a nebulizer and half a pharmacy with us which can get heavy after a while.
  23. I'd love to know if anything's leaked out as well. Thinking about booking a Dec 2026 Eastern itinerary and hoping they finally add a Cucina.
  24. Sadly it seems like that's always the case the last couple of years. The buffet menu looks great and the descriptions of the food make me want to eat there, but then you get the food and it's almost like a case of false advertising.
  25. I've stayed in Lido cabins on Breeze and Valor that were two or three cabins away from the Lido Deck and had no issues with noise.
