Sorry but this is one of my pet peeves!!
These poor room stewards are already busting their behinds trying to turn around 24 or 25 cabins in a very short amount of time and yet some of you feel you are above the rules and it's okay for you to just "pop in" just to leave your carryon because you are sooooo special! If it was OKAY to do this they wouldn't put the signs up!! Of course the room steward is not going to say anything, they are depending on you for tips, so they won't take a chance of making you mad......so you just take advantage of that!!!
Sorry, but it is wrong any way you slice it!!!!
What she ^^^^ said!

Loving all of the pictures! We'll be sailing her for the 2nd time on 4/5/14 and I'm loving the memories that are popping up from our 1st sailing. :)

There's also a company called "Go Picnic" that makes prepackaged meals that are fairly healthy. They even have gluten free and vegetarian options. They are tough to find (I get them at Target) but we use them hiking, my DH takes them to work since he's outside and doesn't have access to refrigeration or a cooler usually, and I've even taken them on flights.
Thanks for the info about "Go Picnic". Due to huge issues with my esophagus & stomach, I've had a couple of surgeries that have affected what I can eat. On our upcoming cruise I'll be just fine in a couple of the ports with food choices, but if we're at a beach that only offers burgers & hot dogs, etc... at a bar, I'm sunk. I found the website and will be ordering some. Thanks again!!!

We're awaiting the rest of your review! :p:D:p

Which can be inconvenient and cost you time waiting in line.
I always bring a pile of one$ and fives$. And many get used before we even get on the ship, taxis, porters, bellhops, etc etc.
Us too!

I guess I grew up in a more trusting time.
My siblings and I walked 3 blocks to school along with a lot of the other kids in the neighborhood starting in kindergarten. Sometimes there were 2 or 3 of us together and sometimes I was alone.

Your mother couldn't walk or drive her young children to school?
Not everyone's Mom is a stay at home Mom, or able to fix their work schedule to one that they would like. I was born in 1960, am an only child and from the time I was 6 walked to and from school alone, unless some other child in the neighborhood could walk with me. I too, was sent to the store with a shopping list and money to get a few things, also crossing a busy street. We viewed things differently back then. There IS NO WAY I would have allowed our kids to be alone as much as I was allowed. Not at all!

We feel the same way! We have ever had a balcony, but feel like it would be a waste of money for us too. We are only in the room to sleep, shower and change. We get up in the morning, usually go to gym, come back and shower, go to breakfast, go to Lido for, sun...etc. - always out doing something. Then there's the ports! So for me personally, would much rather spend the money elsewhere.
We used to say the same thing, until we had a balcony on our last cruise. I had booked us via Early Saver and received so many price cuts that not only were we able to upgrade from an interior to a balcony, we had $350 in OBC. While we do spend most of our time in the public areas, being on our own balcony is wonderful. On port days we order room service and enjoy the sunrise and peacefulness of the sea. And we have found that it's wonderful for quiet time before dinner and before bed. It's so peaceful and beautiful after being around the crowds the rest of the time. :)

some of you folks are real downers.. being just married and hubby deployed probably means money isn't growing on the back yard money tree.
any day on a cruise is better then a day at home and I would think any day on a cruise with a new hubby just back from being deployed would be awesome.

I agree!!! Geez people!

Anxiously awaiting your review! :p

That's kind of a good thing/bad thing system. If you pull tips because you don't believe in tipping  then at least your poor waitstaff and room stewards aren't screwed. But I've read about a few workers who weren't good, so tips were pulled. If they still get a cut, there really is no incentive to improve.
That's why we haven't added the auto tip to our upcoming cruise. Our steward wasn't horrible, he just never did anything we asked. Nothing huge, just things like removing all of the items from the fridge, please get us ice, can we please have 2 more towels, etc... We've done the auto tip in the past and bring envelopes along so we can give an additional tip when deserved.
As far as the YTD team, we've been fortunate in that we've found a great team on the first night on the 3 cruises that we've opted for this and always request them for subsequent evenings. On the final night we make sure to tip each team member individually.

If there was a football game on I bet there would not be a complaint... (the exception to this is if there are 2 different games going at same time and the other game is the one you wanted to watch) i don't watch it and I could careless.. but no complaints from me. Yes at times there will be things on the Jumbtron that someone does not like, now we are coming up to the winter Olympics and the requests are coming in ... are we going to be able to watch them on the jumbotron.
Sorry it bothered you so much but you can not please everyone....
It's not about what's on, it's about the extremely LOUD volume!!! Read the original post...

If you're worried about time and distance when walking, just take the free trolleys. They're abundant and go where you need to go. :)
-
Same as the others...we always leave the bags at the hotel where they keep them in a secured area.
-
Wow. Well, um....is it usual to just NOT get your bags to your room? Does that really happen? Or just doing all of this as a safeguard?
And, how long is it usually before your bags are delivered?
Thanks!
Our first cruise found our luggage not getting delivered until after 9:00pm. Because of that, we each carry a backpack that has valuables, cruise docs & paperwork, including passports, cash, etc... personal hygiene items, 1 change of clothes (I wear my swimsuit when boarding under a cute sundress, but have something that I find suitable for dinner), DH's swimsuit is in the backpack, and flip flops/pool shoes. Since that first cruise, our luggage has always been in our cabin when we get to it after lunch and pool time, before dinner.

We've never had the problem of the mattresses moving apart and causing a gap. On the cruises we've done, I believe there's an insert they put between the mattresses (sort of a "T" shaped padded thing) making the mattresses "one". Along with the bottom sheet and mattress pad being tucked in around the whole thing, they don't come apart for us.
We've never noticed any kind of a gap either.
-
We don't change until we head to our cabin for bed at the end of the evening. The only exception would be if we decide to catch a movie under the stars on the Lido deck and it's a chilly evening, we may change into long pants and a long sleeved shirt. But that would be the only time we ever change after dinner.

The only times we've waited are when we've gotten to the MDR before they've actually started seating. Once the seating process has begun, it's just the time it takes them to seat those ahead of us. We love YTD!

Since we always cruise in April to the Caribbean I wear a cute sundress over my swimsuit. Once we grab a bite to eat, we head to the pool. :p

I use to have my daughter order $2.00 also for tips, then I read that the crew really doesn't like these as they are often hard for them to exchange in port. If I was misinformed I would love to go back to the $2.00 bills.
We've never taken $2.00 bills, but after reading here that some people use them we have asked a couple of our stewards and wait staff and they do not like them. Some countries don't know what they are and it just makes it tough for them to use. They also do not want international phone cards.
-
DH and I wear waterproof scuba card cases when wandering the ship or in port. We can fit our S & S card, credit card, DL and some cash. They're under our shirts so they don't flop around and get in the way. In the evening DH carries his in a pocket and I usually have a small evening bag or wristlet that I have mine in.

It seems that YTD for two' date=' sometimes has people sitting very closely in rows of two topper tables... is that correct?
We want to sit at a table for two most of the time, but if the two top tables are as close as some are saying, it may just be best to go for a table of four or six.
Can any one with experience confirm if YTD on the Freedom has the two top tables more separated for a more private, intimate dining experience for two?
Just curious.
Thanks![/quote']
We did experience that one time on the Triumph, but it turned out to be wonderful for us since we met a really nice couple. Other than that one time, we've been seated in 4 person booths.
-
We sailed with two other couples on the Lberty two months ago and the first night found a server we wanted to keep.
Made up with the hostess that we could come within a 15 minute window each night and keep the same table.
Surprised they didnt do that with you.
We've done YTD on CCL and ATD on RCCL and have had great experiences. If we find wait staff that we enjoy and bond with, we request them every evening and it's wonderful!

We eat dinner that first night at the buffet so we can guarantee a window seat to see our trip down the river. It's AWESOME!!!
