I saw one report from a person in a Facebook group. But so far I haven't seen it fleetwide. Sounds like something they are currently testing as they haven't made any announcements.

I cruise in 6 days & seem to recall receiving multiple emails regarding watching the emuster at least this far in advance of my July cruise.  There's nothing showing when I log into NCL so I'm thinking there will be a real muster drill when I board next Friday.

Personally, I have no problem with it although waiting for the stragglers does irritate me.  When I boarded in July, I really wasn't paying much attention to where we went to have our cards scanned so I  went to my muster station the next day to make sure I knew where to go.  Like all cruisers, I don't ever want to need to use the information for real but I always want to know where to go!

  2. Can't believe this argument is still going on.

Like it or not, it appears emuster is going away.  Arguing about what is most convenient for you (the passenger) isn't going to change that.  Getting your panties in a bunch isn't going to change it either so deal with it as required and then have a great cruise!

  3. I don't enjoy hanging out waiting for stragglers to show up for muster but, I really think it's a better way to do it.

As easy as the edrill was, I went looking for my muster station on my last cruise because I had no idea where it was!  I boarded & was told to go to deck whatever to check in to my muster station.  Did that then went to meet up with others in my group for lunch.  I'm sure I'm not the only that really wasn't paying attention to anything other than getting onboard & starting my vacation.

  4. We cruised with a large group of family & friends ranging in age from 21 - 75 and we all had a great time.  We all did our own thing & got together for several meals & excursions.  Overall, no complaints & we plan to do it again next year.

Any cruise, or vacation, is what you choose to make it.  The kids had as much fun as us old timers so I expect you'll all be just fine.

I have done the "Two Oceans by Railroad" excursion, and enjoyed it. I must state that I enjoy train travel as a disclaimer. The excursion guides gave excellent descriptions of the various areas we passed and of the canal and railroad. Train passes near the canal, and travels about 50 miles end to end. On the Northern end, the railroad diverges away from the locks, and they may not be visible. On the Southern end, the tracks are beside the canal and ships may be seen in the locks.

I'm on a lap top & having difficulty reading this.  You need to make the font larger!

While the credit is for the first person on the reservation, it’s no longer one credit per port. It can be applied to more than one excursion in a port, as long as they don’t overlap in time.

Thanks for the correction!  I didn't realize they made that change.

  7. If you're not interested in the Studio Lounge and it's before final payment, I would definitely call.  Generally, they just change the reservation and adjust the price.  I did have an inexperienced rep cancel an existing reservation once but that's not the standard.

You'll be much happier with the additional space the inside has compared th the 100 sq. ft. in the studio.

  8. Ft Myers re-opened yesterday, 10/5, which hopefully resolves your problem.

I'm sure this has been stressful for you however, NCL may have chosen to wait it out anticipating the situation would resolve satisfactorily with the airport re-opening prior to your scheduled flight date.

I'm the O.P, and I don't think you SHOULD....  but I do wonder if one WOULD, if appropriate incentive were offered?   Please note that my question was about the phenomena of colluded bookings of one-half of every connecting pair on the deck.  A couple of people explained why it "appeared that way" but wasn't actually happening.  So I am relieved.

The cabin reservations operate on a first-come first-serve basis.  I support that.  (Except for the pesky cruiseline's ability to bump you for ANY reason, lol.)  I DID mull over the idea of offering someone extra money if they would be willing to move to 1 cabin left/right of their assigned one.  Not sure I would actually attempt that...  I can see how it could be interpreted as a selfish ask.   The party clearly has every right to say "No thanks, I'm not switching".  And there would certainly be no hard feelings from me about it.  First-come, first serve.

If I was desperate, I might ask the cruiseline if they'd be willing to negotiate that for me, PRE-cruise.

But keep in mind:  if someone accepted that "ask", they would:

    ----receive the incentive;

    AND

----would be spared from hearing a multitude of door knocks all cruise-long on both sides of their cabin, as the split-family on both sides of them tries to coordinate meals & activities all day long.

I don't perceive booking an unneeded connecting cabin is as hurtful as booking an unneeded ACCESSIBLE cabin.  Half my frustration is simply that Norwegian makes it almost impossible to view the connecting cabin-pairs that are available.  Other cruiselines offer that functionality (or some form of it) within their booking process.

Sorry, that's a no from me but I wish you luck in your pursuit.

Just a thought...  Instead of booking online, why not call NCL directly?  If you pull up deck plans, you'll be able to see the location of whatever adjoining cabins the rep indicates are available.

  10. There have been times I booked a connecting cabin for just 2 of us.  It would never be my first choice but, if it's the cabin type I want, in the location I prefer, I don't worry about who might want/need(?) the cabin I've booked.

Why anyone would think I should change cabins because their decision to book after I did interferes with their plans is beyond me!  IMHO, that's being mean & selfish!

Thanks. I don’t see the “let’s get you upgraded” option on the laptop and the invitation isn’t in messages. Maybe if I try and remember my email password and access it through that. I don’t use the laptop for email.

Anyway, COULD it be generalized that a bid of slightly greater than 2x the min bid (double the min bid) would gage as “fair or good” ? I see lots of folks suggesting they bid and succeed at min or very slightly plus. I’m willing to be somewhat aggressive but the reality is there is absolutely nothing that NCL or anyone else could possibly do for me over a 15 day period that would justify, in

my mind and haven experience, spending 16k plus. If the haven menu stays the same over the period, the value for me is diminished even further. Maybe they modify the menu on extended voyages?

Additionally, are there any booking engines outside NCL to gage occupancy? NCL is relentless with their “finish booking your cruise” emails and I’m not 100% sure they actually display all available cabins .

Can't help with bidding info but I can tell you NCL does not show all available cabins.

To avoid the "Finish Your Booking" emails & phone calls, I now use an incognito window on my laptop.  I get the iformation I want & no follow-up by NCL!
