  1. Thanks. I'm all packed and ready to set off in the morning.
  2. One more day to work, then it's packing time. I checked my sea sick pills and discovered they were past the use by date, so I got some more today. Hopefully, I will not need them but better safe than sorry. The forecast for the drive to Southampton on Thursday looks like it might be a bit wet but looking ok for Friday when we sail on QV.
  3. A quick question for those who were on QV recently. I'm just wondering who the Entertainment Director is, oh and was there a pianist in the Commodore Club in the evenings.
  4. I have done a winter cruise and a summer cruise to Norway and they are very different things. If you don't mind the cold then winter with a chance of aurora gets my vote. (I'm doing the QA trip in October 2024). This will be my third winter cruise if that tells you anything.
  5. If you are in Southampton overnight I recommend checking the Mayflower Theatre to see what's on. It can be a lovely start or end to your cruise.
  6. I'm back on QV in September with a roaring 20's ball on the 12th so I will be watching for plastic hats and report back.
  7. The cruise ship schedule at Southampton VTS tends to be updated for the full year in January although this is subject to change.
  8. You are both of course correct. @bluemarble you were indeed on this trip 🙂
  9. A two for one offer on Cunard ships 🙂
  10. I have had a slight technical issue, I have a new laptop and all the pictures are on my old one. However, I found this.
  11. You might not get much use out of a balcony in January, but they are good for checking the weather or just getting a bit of fresh air. The cabins are larger as well so it's worth it unless the price difference is silly.
  12. Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear that you didn't get to visit Alghero.
  13. I have done the online check in for my September trip on QV. Boarding time 3pm. 😬 No Golden Lion Pub lunch for me this time. (Unless I ignore the time and go early anyway.)

    QM2

I hope no one was injured and that the ship hasn't been damaged. I was on board in Zeebrugge when she broke her moorings and ended up with a big dent in her stern.
  15. If I could send the clouds your way I would, happy. Hope you get some much needed rain soon.
  16. According to the news Preston which is about 15 miles from here, got 303% of the normal rainfall in July. I have discovered that my waterproof jacket isn't as advertised.
  17. It was dry here until about 5pm but raining hard now. I have given into temptation and started to plan my packing for QV in September.
  18. This is a tricky one to answer as it all depends on the ship arriving on time and disembarkation going smoothly. If all goes well, then you should be on your way by 7.30 but it's very tight so would not take much to derail your plans.
  19. Have a great day. I am going in September so would welcome any advice when you get back.
  20. I've done four crossings on QM2 and never been diverted. Either I'm lucky or you're unlucky.
  21. I keep telling my friend that but despite his best efforts, he still struggles.
  22. I have just had a few days away and visited Beverley (near Hull) with it's beautiful minster and Harrogate. A nice break from work and thankfully, it was dry most of the time.
  23. My last trip was on P&O (I'm sorry) and the bar list was pathetic. It will be lovely to be back on Cunard with a proper choice in the bars.
  24. Now that's a good reason to book a trip on QM2.
  25. Thanks. Less tempting at least.
