  1. We canceled our Dominican Republic tour yesterday. We still plan to try & stop by and say Hi & meet you guys at the atrium bar 3:30 0n Tuesday. Then I hope to run into you all again after DR to hear all about the tour. We are ready to sail. Haven't decided what we want to do in NY though, the day before cruise other then walk around, maybe check out central park.
  2. I haven't been on the ship before, but in a video I watched a while ago, there was an area with tables, not congested with people, I'd have to look back to see deck # etc. but it was up above the lido deck, you can look down on the pool, I think there was also games on one side like ping pong etc, and lots of seats on the other side, some with tables. Just a thought.
  3. Here is photo of it saying pier 88, someone was kind enough to post for me.
  4. I can answer that again for you, it's pier 88.
  5. I use Keyano aromatics sun defense SPF 30. I only use this sunscreen on my face, & never burn anymore. I got it at the salon but you can find it many places online. It is from a skin care line. It is not oily or greasy. Great stuff.
  6. We did it years ago there. Took a bit to get used to. Loved it. Yes my feet hurt quite a bit after, but well worth it. Fun Experience.
  7. To those going on the Amber cove carnival tour we are signed up for, is anyone a tad nervous about going despite all going on in Haiti? We are considering cancelling that tour, will make a final decision next week. I also read they have armed guards with machine guns on the tour busses, this was from last year. If the tours are that dangerous to be on before all this, I'm just unsure. I want to go though😏. We have everything ready to go in the suitcases next week. Can't wait, looking forward to the cruise and meeting you all. DonnaMarie- Im looking forward to getting the beautiful magnet, I ordered on the other site. Can't believe we have a potential storm for next week. Fingers crossed for perfect flying weather in a couple weeks. Safe travels to all.
  8. Welcome new members!! Happy Weekend everyone!!! Four weeks from today hubby & I officially start our Vacation, woowhooo!!!
  9. Has anyone since done this tour? I just read all Carnival tours have armed men with machine guns aboard the transportation for protection. Is this true, for any tour you had from Amber cove? Just curious.
  10. Hey Everyone, its getting close fast, Wooowhoooo!!!! Regarding Amber Cove Tour- Hubby & I still have plans to be with you other 4 couples on the 9:30 tour. I will admit it makes us a tad nervous regarding the situation in Haiti. Meeting on Tuesday at 3:30 Atrium bar sounds good to us for meeting, looking forward to it. Hopefully we won't be late we are doing the 2pm slot pull, providing the smoke smell don't do me in. Fineartsmama we are the same age as you & your husband. Can't wait for this journey!! Bring on the palm trees. I get excited when I see my first palm so I know I'm officially on vacation. Wait, starting in NY this round will be different, no palms when I board. Once I hit NY vacation is official😊
  11. I remember & yes those were the good old days of cruising for sure!
  12. I was there last April. Correct, you cannot use your cruise card to charge things in the port area Taino Bay. The lazy river did not have a lift. I did not find it easy either to get on the tube for the lazy river. But it was fun. I don't remember seeing any in the pool area either, and we swam around the entire area, but that don't mean there wasn't. Sorry I have no tips for you regarding wheelchair access. If I remember right the ground was very nice for wheelchairs, smooth & all new. good Luck, have a good time.
  13. welcome, welcome, welcome to the 3 who just joined the roll call.
  14. following... wondering about the beach massage also
  15. We docked at Tiano Bay in April, got off the ship and there was lots of individuals standing waiting to give you a guided tour, walk you into town, for what ever you wanted to see. They don't take no for an answer. It ended up being a good thing. No fee, just tip at the end. So it is an option to wing it just walk out of the gated area and they will find you.
  16. Thank you for the review, I enjoyed it. Can't wait for my April trip on Venezia.
  17. We'll see ya on the tour, looking forward to it. I'm enjoying the buildup to the cruise, its half the fun. It's almost February, that's when I'll start getting my stuff ready for packing day & make sure I have everything from my master list. We had 4" of snow this week, our coldest day yet was today, but so far not a bad winter. Looking forward to palm trees & tropical breezes.
  18. I am curious if there has been a lot of covid going around on the cruise ships. Have you been hearing of people getting covid recently on their cruise, or end up having it once you got home?
  19. I enjoyed following your journey, what a great trip. Thanks for sharing!
  20. Happy new year! I am now in full cruise mode. We also paid with the aarp cards. Good deal! Another Great tip I learned on cruise critic. In Ambor cove we are also considering the coffee, cooking, casa tour. All 5 star reviews is rare. It has been years since we booked a cruise sponsored excursion. I hope the drive is not to excessively bumpy. I need to decide before it sells out. Anyone have more info then what is on carnival site? Almost double digits til we set sail. Wooowhooo!! Looking forward to warm weather.
  21. I am also looking for the same info. on this tour. It has excellent reviews. Wondering how far the drive is to the furthest point, It says bumpy road, how bad can it be? Did everything really feel authentic. Any more info on this tour would be fabulous. Thank you.
  22. I had a connecting room for my upcoming cruise, but wanted one that was not. I saw one came available this weekend, same floor, same category. It was to late on a weekend to call my PVP, so I just called Carnival and they switched it for me, very quickly, no problem, no fees.
