  1. So you are keeping the Star TA? I’m still deciding between that and the Emerald TA from Southampton.
  2. Agreed…most times those passengers running back to the ship were not on an independent tour, but at a nearby bar getting tipsy enough to lose track of the time.
  3. Doubt it, she’s been a member longer than you have, and has almost 3k posts. No need to be so cynical.
  4. You know I was thinking that too, just change them to CA and CB, but then I remembered the cabana deck access, so I think they might have to keep a separate category for that benefit. Interesting the website hasn’t changed yet, maybe when they remove the reserve dining reference the price will come down but I’m not holding my breath lol, especially since the pricing has already changed for the new Sanctuary Class.
  5. That is correct, those already booked are grandfathered. The shafting I’m referring to is that the cabin fare has not been reduced to make up for the loss of reserve dining. If you book a C1 or C2 cabana mini, you’re now getting less for the same price. I don’t believe they’re getting sanctuary access but then again why would they want it when they have a smaller and more private deck with the option of shade?
  6. Hubby and I have different favorite ships so itinerary always wins lol. Emerald however we both enjoyed equally.
  7. Yes I understand that now, you were referring to the few lucky people during a snapshot in time that will get something for nothing. To me that’s not the bigger issue as we’ve all come to learn that some days we’re the pigeon and some days we’re the statue. The DO gift is a sporadic finite occurrence involving a dozen or so cabins per sailing that hadn’t even all been booked due to privacy issues The more pressing and consistent problem is that Princess has taken unreliable to a whole new level, up to the point where every week there is another shoe dropping about one of the Sphere class ships. Dining reservations are still a mess, Cabana reserve minis are being shafted out of private dining for the same price, and suite prices are skyrocketing for the addition of Premier which is way above the price difference if purchased separately. It’s almost as if Princess has three or four advisors all in a contest to see who can give the worst advice.
  8. Sorry, I didn’t realize you meant those already booked, since it’s a small number and there are only about a dozen DO per sailing. Either way this has been poorly handled in so many ways, yet Princess seems committed to finding even more ways to outdo itself, and not in a good way.
  9. Those currently booked in reserve cabins are being grandfathered, according to emails received from some of the members here who had reserve cabana minis already booked.
  10. It’s not zero cost when you see how much the DO balcony prices have increased to almost double. I think Princess doesn’t know how to get out of its own way with all these new ideas they’ve got for Sphere class. Look at what they did to the so-called Reserve Cabana Minis, that now no longer have reserve dining. That was fast, 8 months before nixing that benefit. And surprise! No price drop for the loss of dining.
  11. Thanks….where would I find a list of those specialties? ETA: Never mind, found it!
  12. Any particular reason leaving out Cyprus? I am on Ascent next year and trying to decide which MDRs to book.
  13. So, the Sun and Star have supposedly been set up from day one to have traditional dining on the lowest deck (Deck 6 I believe) of the main dining room. Can anyone currently booked on either of those ships confirm that they’re able to book traditional dining the old way, or does that too have to be through DMW, which makes no sense because why would you need to book TD every night? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of TD?
  14. I’m honored that you think I’m young enough to have living grandparents 😉
  15. Don’t let the critics get you down, we’re a tough crowd. Nevertheless, this thread has 5 people following it so obviously some people think it was worth posting.
  16. Right? And the comment about making a bad impression with posting in multiple cruise lines was bizarre to me. People are so caught up with brand loyalty they can’t handle when others might be interested in sailing different lines to find a particular port or venue. I have cruises booked on 4 different cruise lines as we speak. ETA: I’m also trying to decide between Princess, Celebrity and RC for fall of 2025. The horror! 😱
  17. “Leaving” it would suggest that the mattress is outside while passengers are inside or not in their cabin. From what I’m reading it’s only out there while someone is sleeping on it.
  18. I think also because Anthem and other Q class have the bathroom at an angle to the main part of the cabin, so there’s no skinny hallway at the entrance.
  19. I thought that too until I realized the bed was too far from the bathroom lol. Also, when the weather isn’t great it’s nice to have the couch by the balcony so you can still enjoy the view from inside throughout the day.
  20. Unfortunately from what I’ve read the sliders can’t be locked from the outside, and neither can the balcony half doors opening out onto the cabana deck.
  21. Wow what are the chances? I’ve never even witnessed a proposal in my life (except from my husband of course) and you’ve witnessed two rejections! What a bummer. You must be bad luck lol. Kidding of course, but you may want to stay out of restaurants on Valentines Day 😉
  22. I think gumshoe was looking for a little bit stronger proof than that lol
  23. I don’t remember who was asking about the forward most cabins on deck 14, but here is a photo from the outside with the second cabin (14104) highlighted. It looks like that balcony should be fine but the one in front of it is pretty crammed under the bridge, which I think might make the cabin very dark. I’d definitely choose 14103 or 14104 if I were inclined to sail in this area of the ship, since I always take lots of pictures off the balcony.
  24. Oh ok, so you booked the cabins across from each other? Looking at the deck plans it seems like a long walk from one side to the other but depending on which family members are traveling with you that might not be such a bad thing 😉
