  1. I don’t remember who was asking about the forward most cabins on deck 14, but here is a photo from the outside with the second cabin (14104) highlighted. It looks like that balcony should be fine but the one in front of it is pretty crammed under the bridge, which I think might make the cabin very dark. I’d definitely choose 14103 or 14104 if I were inclined to sail in this area of the ship, since I always take lots of pictures off the balcony.
  2. Oh ok, so you booked the cabins across from each other? Looking at the deck plans it seems like a long walk from one side to the other but depending on which family members are traveling with you that might not be such a bad thing 😉
  3. Thank you. I didn’t realize the doctor diagnosed him with a phobia, which was the reason for my disagreeing with you. I wasn’t questioning the treatment, just your use of the word “phobia.” and in a prior post was suggesting that a new room was not so unreasonable to request. Like you said, we can agree to disagree on that topic. Have a nice day.
  4. I haven’t seen interior photos but pictures from outside the ship show that the balconies are quite buried under the bridge. My worry was it would make the cabins very dark and limit visibility and photos from the balcony, so I chose not to book any of them.
  5. I don’t think the average human needs a “phobia” to worry about the after effects of being covered in sewage. I used to work for the department of corrections. When a CO gets urine, feces, toilet water or unidentifiable substances thrown on them by an inmate, they’re required to take a very harsh medication they refer to informally as “the cocktail”. They’re out for weeks due to the side effects of this medication, and they’re not required to have a diagnosed “phobia” for it to be administered. If this kind of assault wouldn’t bother you, I recommend a career in corrections.
  6. These are the rooms I was referring to. All cruise lines have this policy of extra rooms. It might even be a SOLAS requirement for all we know.
  7. There are always extra cabins that are kept empty in case something like this happens. Are you suggesting that if the ceiling caved in or the cabin had no water there would be no place to move them to? Would they be given a lounge all to themselves? Of course there are spares. Just because a ship is listed as full or sold out doesn’t mean they don’t keep additional cabins unoccupied in case of an emergency. It may even be a requirement that they do so for all we know. As for “dwelling” the OP simply came here to let others know, and just because she’s answering people’s questions doesn’t mean she hasn’t moved on. And you know, there’s always scrolling by if it bothers you 🤷🏻‍♀️
  8. Yes, the OP. It was in one of the OP’s posts.
  9. They asked for a different room, even if downgrading to an inside, not to turn back time. This was not too much to ask given the circumstances.
  10. Thank you for bringing that up. I get tired of being called cheap because I like to bring on particular wines based on personal taste and preference rather than cost. A food allergy is an even better reason that people don’t think about when making their snarky assumptions.
  11. Royal saves me lots of money by sticker-shocking me right out of booking lots of things…drink packages, Coco Cay cabanas and beach club, Icon…it’s so much easier to decide whether to book things when the price is laughably high, especially when combined with a decrease in quality and services, repeated cookie-cutter itineraries and higher fares for the cruise itself. So in a bizarre, backfiring way, Royal is doing me a favor. It reminds me of when those Dyson fans first came out and cost several hundreds of dollars. I laughed out loud when I saw them at Bed, Bath and Beyond and looked at the price tag.
  12. How is it possible to not being shoes you’ve worn outdoors?
  13. You’re welcome! I thought of you as soon as I saw it on the cruise deck plans website.
  14. Yes I did notice it that most times there was a nearly identical price difference. I think one day I booked it with a $50 difference, then a while later there was a $200 price drop with a $50 increase in OBC so I grabbed it. The prices are still changing daily but I think it’s because September is not a popular month and the ship isn’t very full.
  15. On Royal Caribbean ships, having the bed near the balcony is a huge convenience because the room is set up so the closets are on either side of the couch and across from the desk. It looks like on the Sun, either way the closets are in the hall across from the bathroom door (unless you have a non cabana mini or higher) and they’re still crowded. Last month we sailed on Celebrity Infinity and had the same problem with the closet doors, and could not figure out why after 35+ cruises on many different cruise lines I never ran into this before. So I looked up prior cabins over the years, and all either had that awesome open closet rod perpendicular to the hall on Grand class, or if they did have cabinet type closets in the hall across from the bathroom, they had bifold doors!!! What a step back in comfort and convenience to get rid of those 🤦🏻‍♀️
  16. Check on a Wednesday or Thursday. I’ve seen the OBC appear and then disappear after a couple days on both RC and Celebrity, but not all sailings. Right now, about two days per week, it shows up on this year’s Symphony out of Bayonne but not next year’s transatlantic on Odyssey. Not much rhyme or reason to it. Maybe @Ourusualbeach had some insight because I’ve most frequently seen it on the TA site.
  17. I noticed the Evian when I looked in the planner. I can’t remember if it costs more now that it’s Evian but it’s better than the cans we had on Anthem. On Enchantment we were in a suite on a very port intensive cruise so we did have left over vouchers and used them for water. This Symphony sailing is just the age old PC-Coco Cay-Nassau itinerary from Bayonne so we’re likely using them all. Next year we’re on an Odyssey TA (maybe 2 if we do the return) so definitely need to have a plan.
  18. Yeah and also the convenience factor depending on where we end up. I booked a suite guarantee this time because it was a good price and includes $350 OBC.
  19. I’m sorry, yes, that was confusing. I meant if he doesn’t go to the lounge AND doesn’t have a coffee card and a water package he’ll use the vouchers up.
  20. Same here. It’s a shame that both Quantum and Oasis are without windows, and kind of small. My favorite Schooner bar so far has actually been on the Enchantment of all places.
  21. Thanks for the warning. We’re sailing Symphony in September and while I’m happy with tap water and regular coffee, hubby likes his bottled water and double espressos. I might just get him a coffee card and case of water instead of sending him to the lounge. Otherwise he’ll use up his 5 vouchers before booze time lol.
  22. Same here….the versatility of time and location is a big plus.
  23. We did have the stinky cheese as well, but also lots of overcooked appetizers, raw veggies in a cup with watery ranch, and unripe dipped strawberries. Plus those nasty canapés that every single cruise line seems to send to your room on formal nights. I wonder if there is a cruise food warehouse that makes them lol
  24. Free food on a cruise ship isn’t really all that special, especially since the quality of the appetizers has dropped. That being said, I do think a better solution would be to have a longer happy hour such as 4-8pm with the first two hours for Diamond and the second for Plus and Pinnacle. Or, just divide the current happy hour in half and assign accordingly.
