  1. We saw the Blue Man Group on the Epic in 2012 and would have left early, but our seats were where it was not possible.

Entertainment is subjective, I don't want to insult anyone that liked the BMG, but personally my DW, Son, three of his friends and I were not impressed. I suppose 13 year old boys might like it.

Funny you said that we were in the back and walked out after 20 minutes couldn't stand the constant pounding. Not my cup of tea.

  2. Just guessing based upon the Jewel 2 bedroom...These suites were really intended to be used by families. It's not so much that the 2nd bedroom is small as much as that there is a huge difference between the two. The main bedroom and bath is lovely, with a soaking tub and separate shower overlooking the ocean, and two sinks. The bed is King sized with a very comfortable mattress. There is a large closet. The second bedroom is a couch that can be converted into a bed, and made reasonably comfortable by adding a foam "egg crate", and an upper bunk. The bathroom is fine, but very much "standard issue". As I recall, the closet was more like pegs on a wall. It's also inside, dark, and subject to hall noise, where the other main bedroom is very quiet with a view from the bed. I wouldn't like being the couple in the 2nd bedroom, but when I was a kid, I would have thought it was just fine.

    Very true and accurate statements.

  3. Last year we were on the Getaway. On the last night of the cruise I purchased a lot of pictures at quite for a lot of money. Got home and no pictures. I had no clue if they had even made it back to our cabin that night. Called NCL and they didn't have them And was told I couldn't replace them. I was sad but what could I do. About 3 months later an envelope showed up in the mail with all our photos. NCL rocks.

  4. I like to put on a nice dress and pair of heels, go sit down in the dining room and wait for my waiters to take my order. If the service is too slow there, I move to the kitchen table and wait for the waiters in that room to appear. After being really disappointed with the service aboard this ship, we call out to the Chinese restaurant that delivers.

LMAO. We are usually having withdrawls from not eating every 2 hours on the way home, so we usually order pizza. The next day is grocery shopping and back to reality.

  5. as others have pointed out, it is wonderful to be able to get reservations when they are "booked" both in retaurants and spa. Also they are great at doing thins like getting extra ice, clearing out the fridge for you, serving meals with class in the suites, bringing whatever you need, returning towels, beer containers that you happended to forget that day. It is just plan pampering not that they necessarily do things that you physically couldn't do, just makes the experieince that much more special.

  6. Did you have to pay a higher price for the cabins? Or were they about the same price you paid for the balcony?

I'm thinking about upgrading myself on the April2012-cruise. Got a mini suite for a great price but would rather change to aft mini or aft penthouse.

How does that work? Do I call the TA/NCL and ask if I can upgrade/upsell myself? And then I have to pay the difference?

Thats exactly what I did, I was booked in a mini-suite, the more I read about the "suite life perks" I got the bug, so I called NCL and told them I wanted to change to a penthouse aft large balcony suite - no problem they switched it and I paid the difference.

  7. I booked my first NCL cruise 9 months in advance. The price dropped... a lot! Cabins in our booked category (balcony) were about 1000€/passenger cheaper then when we booked (even though it's main vacation time in Germany and usually those prices do not drop that much). I called them (NCL Germany though if that makes a difference) and asked how it could be that even mini suites were way cheaper then our balcony. I didn't ask for an upgrade, I was just curious.

Tremendous price dropping 3-6 months before a cruise was one reason for not booking my favored cruise line anymore and trying a new cruise line... I was sick of paying a lot more for the same cruise just because I book (or have to book) months or years ahead.

Then they offered me an upgrade and I took it ;) I loved the service and I even booked the next cruise with NCL even though I've never been on a ship before.

Definitely pays to keep checking prices. Good Job on the upgrade!

  8. I love the idea of bags for each day. I am a packrat when it comes to the cruise memorabilia that I collect for my scrapbooks. I always keep a journal day by day but then lump all my goodies into one big envelope. It would be so much easier to sort and scrap by doing it day by day! Thanks for the tip.
