Unlike its sister company Princess cruises, the silence from Cunard with regards to plans beyond March 15th is deafening.

Princess have put up on their website a list of cancellations and modifications from now until May 10th.

The lack of communication from Cunard should be a concern for all of those booked on her ships.

Cunard passengers should be loudly voicing their displeasure at such treatment, through social media or whatever platform is available, for the rest of the cruising world to see  how (IMO) inept the back-office component of this business appears to be.

    Thoughts anybody?

I agree.  Canada has closed all ports until July 1st and that date could be extended.  Cunard is still selling Alaska cruises online in June that depart from Vancouver, visit Victoria and Prince Rupert.  That decision was made a few days ago.   Where are you Cunard???

Sorry about your luck.  However, Canadians were not "TOLD" not to cruise.  It has been suggested.....

It was recommended by our Federal Government.  This is from the website:

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) is recommending that Canadians avoid all cruise ship travel due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

Cruise passengers include travellers from around the world who may be arriving from areas with known or unknown spread of COVID-19. The virus can spread quickly on board cruises due to the close contact between passengers. Older people and people with a weakened immune system or underlying medical condition are at a higher risk of developing severe disease.

Recent cruise ship outbreaks of COVID-19 indicate that a large number of individuals onboard can become infected. While the majority of affected passengers may experience mild symptoms, there have been a significant number of cases requiring hospitalization and critical care, and some deaths have been reported.

  3. I've been following David Abel on Diamond Princess and his latest post was excellent.  His positive attitude is commendable.  He talked about a heated toilet seat in his mini suite on Diamond Princess.   Does anyone know if these heated seats are on any other Princess ship?   I'm booked on Majestic and Regal in balconies, but if the mini suites have these toilet seats, I'm thinking of upgrading.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. We were in a two bedroom Aqua Theatre Suite on the Harmony, Deck 9.  We loved watching the shows and the noise didn't bother us at all.  We never heard any noise from the Rock Climbing Wall.  I would book another one in a heartbeat if I win the lottery!  It was for our 50th wedding anniversary and it was WONDERFUL!

We have sailed the CB many times.

    Love her!

    Nothing has changed........

Get to the theater early! Never had a problem getting a choice seat.

I was on the Aug 9/19 Canada New England cruise.  If you didn't get to the early show at least 30 minutes before and the late show 25 minutes before you would not get a seat.  The cruise director told everyone on the first night to get there 30 minutes before.   The singers and dancers shows were standing room only...  The other shows, people just left.

I suspect you wouldn't get laundry, or preference for tendering. Do you get the minibar setup? The value of that might be equal to or greater than the cruise fare. Nor for me, though. We're not drinkers. Just the occasional beer.

I've done four of these.  I got my elite perks.  I had a party in my room and my friends helped me drink the mini bar.  I also got bag of goodies in the bathroom. Not enough time for laundry turn around.   It's on and off.  No tendering and you carry off your luggage.  The only hold up can be Canada Customs and Immigration in Vancouver but on my last cruise it was much better.  I agree with the British Invasion show, it is stale.  I am not doing the Oct 5 Star Princess, but I know someone who is.  I am driving them to Seattle to make it easier to get on the ship.  Last time we used Quick Shuttle from Campbell River store and it was so disorganized!  The driver had no idea who was to be on his bus, we got turned back at the border!  We left at 8 AM and got to Seattle at 2 PM!  Dining room is open for lunch but they don't tell you.  If you go, enjoy and if you book a single room you get 2 cruise credits.  Lots of people do it.

In your blog photo of the specialty coffee part of the International Café, your caption says that since you are Elite level you got your specialty coffee for free.  Is this some new benefit?  I have been at the Elite level for some years now and I have always been charged for my specialty coffees.

I traded in my mini bar for the coffee card.  I got 15 free coffees although I wasn't that impressed with the coffee.  Starbucks it isn't.

  8. On other cruises we've been on you are allowed to carry on one bottle of wine per person.  We are booked on the Queen Elizabeth to Alaska out of Vancouver.  Does Cunard allow us to bring on a bottle each?

For the last two years they were released late April. However there has been some advance publicity about Regal Princess coming down here for that season and that said more details in March.

I expect Regal and Majestic will do quite a few NZ itineraries, with maybe a token Tasmania one each, and another to the South Pacific.

Thank you!  We booked March 2020 but all the minisuites and balconies are sold out.  Also, the Sun Princess is getting quite old and after being on the Royal, I'm sure we will be disappointed.  Would like to see the Regal or Majesty in 2021.

  10. We booked a cruise for Christmas months ago.  Daughter is pregnant and baby is due in August.  We want to take the 4 month old on the cruise but RCCL will NOT allow a baby under 6 months.  They are charging us $100 PP for rebooking for 2020.  It's their rules that are stopping us from cruising.  Travel agent says they will NOT waive the $100 PP fee.  This is ridiculous and very unfair!

  11. If you purchase a bottle of wine in the dining room, drink half, can you take the rest of the bottle to your room or does Princess have to store it until the next meal?

    May want a night cap.

  12. A friend just got this upsell from Princess. They are booked in a ME mini-suite Royal Princess Aug 5/18

CHOOSE FROM THE FOLLOWING SUITES (rates are in addition to fare already paid): Full Suites (Cat S3) size from: 440 sq ft $999 US per person

And no, they are not taking it! If it gets dropped they may consider it. They are Elite

  13. I've done this many times. They take their time, cruising going slow through the Strait of Georgia! I'm, sure they pass the port of Vancouver and turn around in the night. They usually pull into port just after 6:30 AM. It's protected water so it's really nice. The best part about docking in Victoria first, you clear customs in Victoria so in Vancouver you just walk off the ship. If it's busy at Canada Place, it's a huge bonus!

The BC Ferry takes 1 hour 40 minutes but it goes from Tsawwassen to north of Victoria. The cruise ship is MUCH nicer.
