Meet & Mingle or Meet & Greet

I've been to many M&M... some organized through both CC & Regent or through just Regent.... and those where the Roll Call members would informally decide to meet in a corner of the Observation Lounge at 5 PM or so. The latter events turned out to be very well attended with interesting conversations and lots of laughter. The ones where Regent was involved were less successful as almost all of them were scheduled for 10 AM.... long before most people start drinking and alcohol does make these events more enjoyable...it's a good ice breaker. The last official M&M gathering I attended was on the Explorer and about 30 cruisers had signed up for it. Regent scheduled it for 10 AM. One of the invitees got in touch with reception and said "I don't drink at 10AM and it's not a time when I feel sociable." Regent changed the time to 6 PM. I think all 30 of us showed up and we all had a great time!
  2. There's no reason to include free laundry as this cruise has sold out and is wait listed.
  3. There is a huge difference between the free bag(s) of laundry you get with Gold vs the free laundry with Platinum. With Gold, your laundry is only washed and folded..... no ironing so it's mainly useful only for laundering underwear. With Platinum, you get ironing as well as washing and the ironed clothes come back on hangers.
  4. I'll be Platinum on my next cruise, scheduled for May 2018. It's taken me many years to earn my right to free laundry. I'll be most upset if that perk is now extended to everyone. If all passengers were to get free laundry, the turn-around times would be significantly longer than they currently are. It might take a week to get your laundry back. Ugh!

    Port Miami Terminal J?

I was on the March 6th Explorer cruise out of Miami and we left from Terminal J even though our final documentation said we'd be leaving from Terminal B. It turned out that Oceania Riviera left from Terminal B. I suspect you will leave out of Terminal J as it's the nicest of the ports and the Explorer is the nicest of the ships. I don't know what terminal the Insignia will used. Port Authority can make last-minute terminal changes so pay attention to the overhead marquees when you first enter the port.

Anyone stayed in Suite 1050 on the Voyager?

Thanks, flossie. I'm not concerned with noise during dinner as I won't be in the room and it sounds like morning noise isn't a problem so I'm going to book it.

Anyone stayed in Suite 1050 on the Voyager?

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but each time I say "POST" my response show up twice and I can't seem to delete it.

Anyone stayed in Suite 1050 on the Voyager?

Thanks, Travel Cat. That's what I'm deciding. And thanks also, drib, for saying you were in 1050 and experienced no noise problems. I think with my white noise machine cranked up, I should be OK. I also googled "Voyager 1050" and found another couple who also were in that suite and they weren't bothered by noise from overhead. It's a great cruise... with marvelous ports... and I'm just glad I discovered it before it was completely sold out.

Anyone stayed in Suite 1050 on the Voyager?

It looks like 1050 is in the carpeted area. I stayed under the pool deck years ago on the Azamara Journey and the noise was horrible. We never got any sleep. If there's any chance being under La Veranda could be as noisy, I'll cancel despite how badly I want to take this cruise. Hope I can find someone who's stayed in 1050 to help advise me.

  12. I'm trying to book a cruise that is almost sold out. Unless I want to book a Penthouse A Suite , which I don't, the only other option available is Suite #1050, a Concierge A that is under La Veranda restaurant. Has anyone stayed in this area of the ship? Is it possible to sleep in the morning when staff is setting up for breakfast? Would very much appreciate some help here. I've cruised on the Voyager 6 times but always was booked on Deck 8 or lower..
  13. What Facebook page did John Barron post on? I've been Googling it and nothing comes up.
  14. I just got off the Mariner yesterday and didn't notice anything different about the menu.
