  1. Good morning all! Our day of sunshine yesterday was brief, but at least I got all those leaves raked. The yard waste bin is slightly less full each raking, so I can finally see the end in sight! 😂 No car ride for us today, we'll be doing that on Tuesday when we leave for a few days of social distancing and ocean therapy for a few days. 🙂 Love the Humane Society and Mother Goose. I agree, it will be a happy day indeed when we can have a parade of any kind again! Not sure what will be for dinner tonight, other than it will be low-carb because I have my D
  2. Happy birthday tomorrow! Yes it is hard to believe it's been 57 years. I remember I was home sick from school and heard it on the radio....surreal.
  3. Good afternoon all! I'm late to the party today (even later than usual). What an end to the week! Yesterday our TA was cancelled and today we learned that our favorite Italian restaurant has been sold. It was family owned for 19 years, the chef/owner comes from Milan and his food is delicious. We drove the 90-minute round trip happily, it was so worth it. So a little sad today! But the sun is shining here (yay!!) so I'm getting out to rake up more leaves. So glad the rain has stopped for the day at least 🙂 Stay healthy and positive everyone! I'm trying. 🙂
  4. Is it one booking or two? We also got the cancellation notice for the 10/30 transatlantic. We're booked on the Westerdam from Sept. 24 through the TA. If you still want the 10/6-30 segment and it was all on one booking, you can do what we did. DH spent 2 hours on the phone this afternoon getting that segment rebooked with the same cabin and perks so we can at least salvage that part -- of course who knows what may yet be cancelled, but we're leaving it this way for now.
  5. Good morning all! Yes, Dark and Stormy sure sounds like the weather we've had here lately. @durangoscotsI wish I could send you some of our rain!! But the drink sounds good too. 🙂 Not sure what we'll have for dinner, but we've had a lot of chicken lately. I do need to use up what we have on hand, as we'll be gone a few days next week over Thanksgiving (just the two of us, to the ocean for some Vitamin Sea, social distancing and ocean therapy) 🙂 I decided since we can't be with family, this would be the next best thing. @rafinmdthat's great that you're having m
  6. Hank thank you for the positive post. We all realize the problems and hurdles that are ahead, but we don't have to be Debbie Downers either. 😉
  7. I know....we lived in Montana and it was 30 below (F) regularly. I recently told a friend that this is the first time I've ever wished I lived in Florida or some other warm climate (but only for the holidays) I do love where I live. 🙂
  8. Funny, it's the first thing I thought about when our governor made the latest ruling less than 2 weeks before our Thanksgiving --- what about all those huge turkeys people have in their freezers???
  9. And I know you have a bigger problem with weather than we do! It will be cold (and most likely wet in some form) but I plan to dress for it.
  10. Yippee!! Our next booking is on the Koningsdam out of San Diego, so good to see the K on the list. 🙂
  11. Good morning all! I think this is the first time I've made it onto the first page of the Daily. Being on the West Coast on "Retired Time" I usually don't get here until well into the 2nd page. 😉 (edited to say that while I was typing, I slipped to the second page!) Mickey Mouse always makes me think of our DDIL who is an Imagineer at Disney in LA. She always says she works for "The Mouse" lol. Thinking of her even more lately, with Disney's layoffs, furloughs and not opening in the foreseeable future! So far she has escaped any layoffs and is working from home, but I worry.
  12. Leon, you're talented and your e-cards are great!
  13. Good morning all! I had a bread maker for years (a gift from our bread-loving son LOL) but after the kids moved out it sat in the cupboard so I gave it away 😉 I guess luckily for me since I'm diabetic, I don't care about bread one way or the other (chocolate is another story!!) I can take or leave electronic cards, but prefer the "real" ones that come in the mail. 🙂 Will pass on the meal, not a fan of ginger -- but we did have Chicken Parmesan last night -- oh my how it hit the spot! @Crazy For Catscongratulations on your refund! We had pretty much the sam
  14. This happened to many of us. They wanted to put us from a Signature Suite on the Zuiderdam into a Vista Suite on the Volendam because the V'dam has no Signature Suites. I think we may have had the same cruise. What cabin category did you have on the Zuiderdam? If you're happy with the different itinerary and had a regular balcony cabin booked, you may be happy. If not, you probably aren't happy! We switched to the Westerdam that leaves one day later.
  15. Good morning all! I agree with others that tolerance should be practiced every day. Chicken Parmesan sounds really good today, another rainy, dark day here. Such good news about the Moderna vaccine! I admit I'm scared too. They warned that this fall/winter would be worse, and here we are... @summer slopeprayers that your daughter doesn't get the virus, and if she does, it's a very mild case. @ger_77 I chuckled about your hidden-away bears for the grandchildren. I have done things like that so many times!! @DeeniEncinitasyou are very talented! Beaut
  16. I'm sorry to hear you had to cancel your Thanksgiving plans. Do you have family in the Seattle and Whidbey area? I imagine quite a few people are scrambling to change plans with the announcements from our governors recently.
  17. Governor Inslee just made an announcement re more Covid restrictions for our state (WA). Back to March restrictions -- work from home, restaurants and bars closed (take-out and outdoor dining allowed), no indoor socializing outside of your household, no more than 5 people outside your household if outdoor socializing...those are the ones I remember. It doesn't affect us as we're retired, haven't been doing any in-dining in restaurants, and we'd already planned on going to the ocean for a few days over Thanksgiving so we won't be socializing with anyone 😉 Our numbers are the worst ever, and
  18. Unless things change, guarantee cabins have always been assigned too late to cancel the cruise if you're unhappy -- are you willing to wait that long?
  19. Good morning all! Recycling is big here too. Pick up every 2 weeks, our tall bin is always full. If I forget which week is recycling pick up, I just look to see how full the bin is 😉 We also regularly visit the truck that collects donations, slowly cleaning out 26 years of accumulation in this house. 🙂 The wine (white!) sounds good today. I haven't had a Screwdriver in years, sounds good. The meal sounds good too, minus the couscous 😉 I think I'll postpone cleaning out my refrigerator! 😅
  20. Oh oh oh! Of course my eyes go right to the chocolate -- what are the ones in the lower left corner? Beautiful!
