  1. Wow, we must think alike. My wife and I had 9390 for our 20th anniversary on the Adventure of the Seas in 2016. Although I've never had a jr balcony I would think if it's just the two of you the aft balcony would be sufficient. We really enjoyed the aft balcony. It was room for one lounger and one chair. It's a little smaller than the 8th floor, 7th and so on down balconies directly below you. The door you open, it's not a sliding door and also a big window. It was very quiet in the back with never hearing any foot traffic in the hall.

  2. Yup - that is a long way to go for a short amount of time actually at the ruins. For most cruisers I suggest staying on Coz and saving the ruins for a mainland port stop.

Agreed. We've never done Chictzen Itza from Cozumel but did do Tulum and Xel-Ha in the same day and we were late getting back from that. RCI tour of course. Would never go to mainland on our own unless just going to Playa Del Carmen for a bit then back.

  3. Been over 3 years ago since I was on an Oasis class ship, (it was the Oasis) but I remember going out a secret door at the top of the ship. It was on the port side and you had to go by many staterooms to reach it and there was a door there. It was a wide open space and nobody was there except my son and I. I think it even had a view finder. Maybe Bob would know for sure if it's on all the Oasis class but I would guess it would be. Was a very quiet and great spot. Can't even remember what deck it was on.

  4. Hi! The shelter opens every morning at 9:00, and they clean from 9:00 until 11:00 each day. Then, they begin walking dogs at 11:00. We explored the port, took a leisurely stroll through that side of town, and then showed up at 11:00 and stayed for about an hour and a half. We had plenty of time to have lunch on the beach, do some shopping, and have a drink after we finished up there. (Keep in mind that Cozumel is in the Eastern Time Zone - I don't know where you may be leaving from, but leaving from New Orleans, this worked in our favor.) If you're not able to spend much time there, they have a wish list of supplies that they need, and some of them are very small (read: easy to transport) and we can get them much easier and cheaper here in the states. We took them a bag of leashes and collars. They need things like zip ties, bandanas, q-tips, and even tape and super glue. You can find all of that info on their facebook page. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link here, but it is listed as Humane Society of Cozumel Island on Facebook. Thanks for considering helping out! I hope you have an awesome trip & GOOO HEELS! :D

Thanks for the info and thanks. We'll have an awesome time.

  5. My 7 year old absolutely loved the pirates parade the second to last night and the pajama party the last night. My 5 year old just generally like being there most times of day. We went in November over Thanksgiving. They both made friends the first day and would see them around the ship the rest of the cruise.

Do they have the pirate parade for the 9 and up group? My son turns 9 in February and we sail in April.

  6. As an animal lover I thank you. That's so kind of you. My wife and son volunteer at the local Petco cleaning out the cat cages for the cats that are up for adoption. My boys and I are big Tar Heel basketball fans here in PA. Not having their best year but there's still time to improve. When it comes to football it's all Penn State. We will be in Cozumel in April so may check this out. We do have reservation at Mr Sanchos. How long were you there helping?

  7. The Mayan ruins of Chacchoben is probably the one you want. The ruins are located about an hour from the cruise port, which will leave some time after to lounge around. Most cruise lines also offer the Chacchoben ruin tour combined with a buffet lunch and private beach break, which sounds like just what you are asking for. The ruins at Kohunlich or Dzibeche are too far away to combine with a beach visit, but might leave some time for souvenir shopping in the Costa Maya port.

One independent place I hear recommended in these forums for beach massage is the Tropicante, one of several restaurant/bar/resorts on the beach near Costa Maya. I have not been there myself. Your tour guide might can drop you off near there at the end of the tour. Here is their website.

    I hope this helps.

Yes thank you. We are doing the 4 hour Chaccohoben ruins tour with Native Choice and then they are dropping us off at Tropicante for a few hours. It will be a full but fun day for our family.

  8. Steve was easy to contact with. We are going on a morning ruins tour when in Costa Maya in April and I thought well let's go to the beach in the afternoon even though it will only be 2 hours or so. He said he would try to get a spot reserved for us and answered my questions in a timely manner. Looking forward to it.
