  1. PRINCESS KAGUYA, $5.4 BILLION Referred to as the “International Urban Cruise Ship”, Princess Kaguya was supposed to set sail in 2012, but constructions never even started. Developed by Ocean Silk Road, it was to be built at Aker Yards under Japan Contents Network's supervision. Princess Kaguya is a project for a 1,640 foot long ship, the length of five football fields, accommodating 8,400 passengers in 3,610 cabins, and 4,000 crew members on its 20 decks. The 450,000 tons ship was designed with diesel electric propulsion that would ensure a cruising speed of 20 knots. Princess Kaguya was meant to be a floating hotel, with three independent hotels onboard, a shopping mall, convention hall, sports events hall, concert hall, and 50 restaurants, but the project was abandoned due to size and cost. https://www.topspeed.com/boats/boat-news/gigantic-cruise-ship-planned-ar32625.html
  2. `Thanks for the heads up! It's been $50+ for a while, today it dropped to $34! For our May 11 Symphony cruise!
  3. ....And the cruising continues, lol! I'll be on the Symphony in May! Have to make up for the lost days on the Allure! And yes, my friend is going, however my son is now 21 and won't need a 'sitter', lol! We'll be going over this post to make sure that we are ready! So glad that this has helped many, I no longer feel that I wasted my time in telling this story. I had so many flamers in my original post, that it was starting to become a chore in writing about this ordeal. Now I know that writing this was not a waste of my time. Thanks all, and happy and SAFE travels!
  4. Wife and I taking 2k on Symphony to the Carib.... Probably too much, but we can always bring it back.
  5. Just hand be a beer between the crack and I'll be fine.. 😉
  6. Great pix!! We'll be sailing on the Panorama, so looking at sista ships! 😉
  7. Patti, there's another thread here that's pretty current and discusses your concerns, Great info posted there.
  8. Funny, my boys started cruising when they were 3 and 9. When we went on cruises, we had them try foods that they would never, ever order nor try. Fish, escargot, frog legs, alligator, etc. Because of this, my kids have always tasted and loved ALL kinds of foods. They are now 20 and 26 and still enjoy cruising and eating, lol! I also tell my newbie cruise friends to widen out and try new stuff that they would never order in a restaurant while they are cruising, you never know what you might like!
  9. Done both many times.. i say that they are very similar. And throw NCL in there too. Similar shows, food, cruisers/demographics... I said similar, not identical..
  10. First Royal cruise was 2001, Explorer of the Seas, the LARGEST ship in the world! LOL!
  11. When I missed the ship on the Allure, the cabin steward and security were in my room OPENING THE SAFE to see if I left my passport or credit cards in there. My wife walked in when they were going thru the stuff. So yes, they can open the safes.
  12. Our last cruise was our first time on NCL (approx 20 cruises)... We loved the late night dance parties! And, the bars open all night! We too have noticed that the bands have disappeared on CCL.. I hope we're not disappointed in May when we go on the Symphony... If we are, then I think we found our new go-to cruise line, NCL!
  13. I'm not thin skinned either... I guess this is just the way people speak to one another these days and it's become the norm... 'Say as you please' instead of 'think before you speak'... I'll get off my high horse, lol.... 😉 Any move to another thread.
  14. I'm not going to go thru each posting, but if you feel that 32, 34 and 37 are not 'flaming', then IDK what to say... I guess rude/mean has a different meaning to you... I agree with you 100% on having a RESPECTABLE convo/disagreement. But that's not always the case here on CC.
  15. Yuuup..... I guess users can just update the prices to their drink of choice... Or there might be a NCL spreadsheet out there...
  16. Someone on Royal board shared this, it works great...! 1944813945_BeverageProgramCalculation.xls
  17. So sad that as to what CC has become (not CC in general, but some of the people on CC)... Fellow cruisers go out of there way to report issues for the sake of others... and then they get flamed! If you don't like what's being posted, move on to another thread! No need to flame someone that has taken the time to help fellow cruisers! How many of us have seen something that isn't right and never said anything?! I know I'm guilty of this! Anyhow, thanks Op for the heads up! I'll be on SOS in May and I'll definitely be looking out! Glad that your mother is feeling better. My mom is 71 and she has another 20/30 years of cruising left in her! Cruise on!
  18. Ah man, I have to look!? Lol, thanks, I'll backtrack!
  19. We've cruised almost 20 times and never tried NCL because of all the negative things that we've heard in the past. Well, we tried her this last Oct for the first time just to give them a chance, and we LOVED NCL!!!! Food much better than Royal, service was GREAT, cabins are awesome, entertainment top notch! We're so glad that we gave NCL a chance! We sailed on the Escape and will be going on the Bliss this coming Oct. (after our Symphony cruise in May). People, IGNORE these stupid 'awards' and go off of the REAL reviews! That is why we tried NCL, because of the reviews that are posted by real cruisers!
  20. We only have two Princess cruises under our belt, and they were BOTH boring and blah. The last one in 2017 was really bad. NONE of the workers wanted to be on that ship. It wasn't just my impression. Many in our group and many others posted reviews saying the same thing. X was NOTHING like Princess! IMHO... Lots to do and staff was great! I was really impressed when many of the staff were waiting for us to board the ship (ABC Islands) and they were all dancing and having a blast as we all walked onto the ship! With drinks for us in hand! Great times! Just to show that we're not biased, we have approx 20 cruises under our belt. Cruised on Commodore, Carnival, Royal, NCL, Princess and X. One thing is that I will no longer knock any cruise line before I try them. I swore to myself that I would never try NCL because of the things that I've heard, i.e., lousy food, lousy service, bad staff, bad cruisers, etc. Well, we tried NCL this past Oct and it was probably the best or one of the best cruises that we've ever had, hands down! I've told all of my friends to try her out! The food, activities, staff, beer selection, lol was great! We're actually booked on the Bliss in Oct. As mentioned, I'll then do a comparison between X (Equinox), NCL (Escape), Princess (Ruby) and Royal (Symphony).
  21. I thought the same thing about X, however my wife and I loved it! Food is very good, entertainment was good. Plenty to do but not as 'loud' as Royal. Nightlife was good, pool scene good. I say go for it! Oh, the service is great!! I've done a few reviews comparing X to Princess to NCL. I'd say stay away from Princess, IMHO. FYI, we have done Royal several times. Doing Symphony in May and will post a review comparing them all.
