Driving to Miami, parking at peir?

J has also been used by Fathom EXCEPT on March 12 when we were scheduled to depart. We pulled up to J and there was nothing! No cars, no ship, nada. I'm wondering if we had the wrong day:eek: There was one passenger standing there and she said that the Adonia had docked at E. The passengers that had parked at the J terminal were bused back to J to pick up their cars. We parked and departed from E and returned to J. Then the busing was done back to the E parking area. All's well - - great cruise even with one "man overboard". Charlie

RE: Waze app alternate routings. Yes. As I described it saved us some major aggravation by routing us off of the interstate and back on some13 miles later. Charlie Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I've never checked the data usage before and after a drive. I'm on a shared plan also but we don't go over. Charlie Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I have used hotels that offer parking for the length of the cruise. There are several sites that have hotels offered. Just Google "stay park cruise" Some have free shuttle to the pier. Some are paid both ways and occasionally some are free both ways. You park your car and keep your keys. If you are planning on staying in Miami the night before you might want to check it out. RE: Driving I've made a number of trips from OH to FL (3 this year). I just time myself to avoid the main part of rush hour. The HOV lanes have always worked for me. I have a SunPass and it's great for me. If you are just doing a one time I personally wouldn't mess with it. YMMV I have become a big believer in the WAZE app for my smart phone. Last trip south it told me to get off I-75 even though the traffic was flowing steadily. I did and was routed on to a 2 lane road running parallel to 75. for 13 miles. After the first mile we could see to our left that 75 was at a near standstill for miles! Saved us at least a half hour and probably more. Hope you have a great cruise regardless! Charlie

    Fathom Adonia - Caribbean Cultures - February 26, 2017

Thanks again. You've been a great help with our planning. We really enjoy old forts. ( San Juan, Nassau, St. Augustine). If it looks like there are ample taxis from the fort we may bail on the tour at that point. Thanks again Charlie Sent from my iPhone using Forums

    Fathom Adonia - Caribbean Cultures - February 26, 2017

Thanks to freebythesea for the info on the El Morro tour. We are o n the next (12Mar) sailing and hesitantly booked that tour. Normally we go on our own. Did anyone o n this sailing have any experience with taxis or public transportation? Were there taxis available at El Morro to return to the city center/port area. Any other comments or recommendations for our day in Santiago? TIA Charlie

Coverting US Dollars to Cuban Pesos

Remember that there are 2 currencies in use in Cuba, the Cuban Convertible (CUC) and the Cuban Peso (CUP). Right now there are about 26 CUP per CUC. When you make a purchase make sure your change is in CUC or that you are getting the right amount of pesos. Charlie

Coverting US Dollars to Cuban Pesos

Here's the math on exchanging money. I've rounded for convenience. After fees and the 10% tax 100 USD will get you 87 CUC The same 100 USD will buy about 125 CAD. The CAD-CUC rate is 1CAD = (about) .75 CUC. So the 125 CAD will buy about 93.75 CUC. By using CAD you get (about) 6.75 CUC more. Your decision if it's worth the effort. Charlie
