  1. Actually a 50% effectiveness of a vaccine is considered pretty good clinical significance which is also considered in the overall picture and analysis, not only stats . Best case if the data in research is statistcally significant but some aren't. Also the rigur and robustness of the study design are looked at. Most of the flu vaccines we get once a year are less than that. Covid vaccine may be an annual just like the flu. When the vaccines become available they will be well tested. It does not do a pharm company any good to put out a bad, untested product, the company would be ruined and we know they are about money. The life saving is a bonus. lol I will get it as soon as they let me. Stay safe all!
  2. I find it really interesting on these types of comments regarding any handling of an unprecidented global pandemic. Lots of seemingly very uneducated opinions; education by the media is worthless. No one, including any leadership, science, physician experts know. They are really giving educated opinions on what to do and how things should be done. Not one person on this earth knows how this virus will act, decisions can only be made on what is seen on how the virus behaves. To blame those that are willing to step up and deal with this horror is disrespectful and quite shameful. It dishonors all that on the front line working and saving lives. My question to those that blame, what did you so when you handled a global pandemic? If you know, why didn't you step up? Is it the government's fault that people in the US refuse to follow scientific opinions and guidance? This is not a military state. Very sad comment on the chosen ignorance of people. As far as the Federal Register questions, I have worked with giving information to it to help the CDC with decisions. IMO they asked the general public opinion because it is where the rubber hits the road on cruising. Getting any information from any business, even remotely related to the cruise business, is too biased. They want opinions that will not profit from the cruise industry and maybe harmed if not done well. I looked at it and the amount of questions is quite daunting, but I encourage cruisers to answer any of the questions you can. No need to do all if you don't want to or even can't answer a question. Every opinion will help with the collection of knowledge or opinions. You may come up with a point they have not thought of. They really do want to make a well thought out decision. They are only looking after us. It does take awhile to have a decision made so I agree with the opinions that cruising will not happen in 2020. Stay safe all!
  3. @CSHS1979, this is very funny! These questions are on the same level of the current media; replace ATTORNEY with a MEDIA PERSON. Same mentality.....
  4. Really good point! Can't blame the cruise line for passengers lack of knowledge going into the vacation, it is all well written out for passengers before booking and boarding. 😊
  5. Good summary however this applies to every mainstream cruiseline. IMO; I have cruised with most. Good advice to do your research, there are always people that want everything and don't want to pay for it yet expect others to. Stay safe!
  6. No, the Florida government is incompetent. Look at the cruise ships left floating with people that are USA citizens that needed help. The Florida government made it a totally business and a non-humanitarian situation. Very sad and quite reprehensible. It is still ongoing as proven by the currently reported data on the COVID19 cases. I am sad for you. Please be safe.
  7. Nope. Based on pandemic, epidemic and epidimiological principles and data collection, your rationale does not work. You are comparing apples to oranges. A cruise ship is not the same situation as any of those you listed. Prevention practices of an ongoing pandemic etc. is never really based on the general population either. They are situational.
  8. Nope, none of what you are guessing is based on fact. It is more complex than just the passengers being allowed on a ship, not sure why this hard to understand for some.
  9. I agree. I am in healthcare and quite surprised at the chosen ignorance of quite a lot of people in the USA. I was a very sad thing to watch as NYC went through their crisis with the COVID 19 virus tragedy. I believe many states learned from that; it was having to do with having an infrastructure in place to accommodate the population in NYC. It did not appear there was enough. Lots of misinformation (I blame the media) and blame. Every state has what they have. They also got hit early on in the Pandemic when it hit the USA; really NO ONE knew about anything and how it was to be handled, including any form of government. I am not sure why people think they know, when the experts did not, how to handle a Pandemic of this virus, when it is unprecedented. State governments choosing not to take this crisis seriously is concerning, some are some aren't. IMO the state governments are where the rubber hit the road as far as things in place to take care of their residents. I saw many states, including my own, ramp up their healthcare plans and access if it was needed. Is that true everywhere, I do not know this? IMHO, I cannot believe they would allow cruising with any remote chance of having COVID19 on board, no matter how many waivers are signed. Why would they? That would be a business suicide/nightmare if things went wrong; which there would be a pretty high percentage of that happening. Once they had a problem, no port would let them back without major processes and clearing of the COVID19 in place. I hope they are looking at the long term picture and can figure out how to make that work; IDK. I won't travel until a vaccine is in place; I do know, because I do clinical research, that the vaccine researchers are not taking this lightly and are not doing sloppy research. The FDA does not allow this to happens regardless of what some uninformed people say. The FDA is one of the most difficult agencies to get anything through approval globally. I know, I have been part of companies submitting drugs and medical devices through the FDA. An example I can give in regards to the COVID 19 - when the testing capability first came out, the Media was quite insistent (saw the WH press core broadcast) on allowing testing from companies out side the USA; meaning not FDA approved. It was told to the media that those were only 47% positive, yet they insisted on having those become available. Not really sure what the reason was other than ignorance by the media. Definitely mob and ignorance mentality which sadly formed public opinion regarding what was going on. It appears now that it is indeed a problem. Don't blame the CDC and the FDA for having strict criteria to keep the citizens of the USA safe. Stay safe please.
  10. I believe you are confused, I did not say anything about canceling anything here. I was wondering if you had some concrete evidence or are another keyboard expert without credible evidence. You did not say it was your opinion and it was not clear what you were talking about specifically. No need to be defensive about someone asking you a question that has no bad intent.
  11. Jumping on the band wagon here; have a TA on HAL booked for next April (2021). Have been following for a bit now. I felt I needed to get re-connected. Haven't cruised HAL for over 10 years. Very excited to be back; looking forward to seeing the changes. Love the daily report!!! Thanks. 🙂
  12. My thanks to the OP and all who have posted. You are very funny people! Stay safe all....😊
  13. I am PP, do not have a FCC in place for a cruise, and currently do not have a NCL cruise booked. That said, I like their Latitudes program. I like the dinners, the wifi, the laundry, priority embark/disembark. No interest in the other things really. I am also higher levels on RCCL, Princess and HAL. None of them give any where near the level of perks that I would use or want. Some of them are quite ridiculous in thinking that what they offer is a perk. I am also not interested in receiving an award at a party because I am blessed enough to be able to cruise as much as I want, it is not a personal accomplishment. I get embarrassed for those that believe that. JMHO. I did receive the survey and once I got to the part about annual membership and payment I closed it, would never pay for it. Stay safe all.
  14. Can you tell which part of the government says in their guidance that if you wear a mask that social distancing isn't necessary? I have not heard that, I have only heard or read that both are needed. Thanks.
  15. Question: how much is FEMA an influence here to help get the ships in for humanitarian reasons? Seems Florida utilizes help from FEMA quite a bit during hurricanes so...... Just asking. It does seem very political. Hope this happens soon and all parties are good with the plan.
  16. No that is not true. Sleep apnea may eventually cause issues that may lead to early death but no one has a CPAP machine at home that is a life and death situation if not used every day/night. Even severe sleep apnea patients can be without it for one or two nights. There are other things that can help temporarily. Pulmonary nurse expert here..... IMO, they do not want the machines onboard because they cannot guarantee they have been cleaned appropriately and can be a petri dish of bacteria and viruses.
  17. What a great day, the villa looks lovely. Very nice pictures. I am not a big fan of HC even though we had a cabana last time but now I want to try a villa. Maybe I can afford it, maybe not, we'll see. Jealous but glad you had a great time! ☺
  18. Yes! Some states need to declare a state of emergency to release any additional funds and programs. Some states it happens when it is deemed necessary by the govenor, no state of emergency needs to be declared. Sounds more dire that needed by some states.
