  1. I would definitely board in Southampton. We have been on two cruises with LeHavre as a port but were not able to dock due to weather. I can't imagine the difficulty of having to debark in an unexpected city - or meeting the ship in another port. I read (within the last year or so) on CC about a Princess ship that was unable to debark passengers in LeHavre. There was no end of trouble since passengers had booked flights from Paris and ended up being disembarked in Southampton. I agree with Coral that you can get a Princess transfer from London if needed. But Southampton is a lov
  2. We are booking a cruise for next year with Viking. We have completed many big ship cruises as well as river cruises with other companies and have always made final payment about 3 months prior to departure. Viking wants final payment a year in advance. Has anyone had any luck delaying final payment to a date closer to departure? I hate giving them all our money so far in advance. If successful in delaying payment, what strategy did you use? Thanks for any help you can give me!
  3. We have one booked for September. Hope all is well by then. In addition, we just purchased an additional 100 shares of stock! The extra shares won't give us more OBC, but when we eventually sell we'll, hopefully, make a great profit!
  4. With only 2 days in Russia I would not attempt to get to Moscow. There is more than enough to see in St. Petersburg. Trips to Moscow should be overnight, not one day. In the past we have spent 4 days in Moscow and 4 in St. Petersburg on a river cruise. Both are wonderful but they are too far away to attempt both in only 2 days. Alla and SPB are both excellent companies offering great tours. I would recommend either one.
  5. We used Folkestone Taxi. They were waiting for us when we arrived at Heathrow and took us to the Premier Inn in Dover. The driver was very pleasant - pointed out a few landmarks and was a very good driver. We spent a whole day at Dover Castle before setting out on our cruise. There were 4 of us and the price was very reasonable. They have sample rates on their web site. Enjoy your cruise! Carol
  6. We are long time Princess cruisers and just completed our first cruise on Norwegian Jewel. I found the food good. We don't eat in the buffet for dinner so did the MDR and restaurants. I thought their appetizers were very good, main meals good, and deserts pretty good. We ate in O'Sheehan's and Chin Chin and had good experiences, really liked Teppanyaki and Cagneys. I was disappointed in the duck at Le Bistro but all else was good there. Over all I think the food was good - just not great. Unlike Princess, they still have a steak always available. They have "any time" dining down very w
  7. We received a flier this week advertising an anniversary sale for European cruises 2020. The sale is good until Dec.10. Since we have two cruises booked for next Fall, I checked it out. Our TA rebooked us and saved us $4900 total on the two cruises. We lost a couple of perks from the original booking but ended up with more OBC plus $200 each toward airfare with EZAir. Worth checking out!!
  8. We'll be traveling with several children over Christmas and New Year's. Is there a children's menu in the MDR? I'm especially wondering if they can order hamburgers and/or pasta any night they want. Thanks!
  9. Next month we’ll be taking our first NCL in a long time. Once on board are we able to get into our cabin right away or is there a wait? Just trying to find out what to expect. Thanks! Carol
  10. We changed on an Alaskan cruise last year. They had stickers they put on our cruise cards saying “anytime” placed over our original time and dining room.
  11. We had friends traveling with us once and I asked at the door. Our friends were welcomed but were told it depended on how busy they were. So, it depended on each evening’s circumstances. I’ve been to the P/E/S lounge when it was so busy we couldn’t even find a place to sit so I wouldn’t expect to bring guests then.
  12. We're staying at the AC Hotel Venezia Marriott post cruise next month. It's close to the port and easy to get to the airport from this hotel.
  13. We'll be in Venice post cruise next month. We're staying in the AC Hotel Venezia. It's a Marriott but it's walking distance - no bridges - to/from the ship and next to the bus stop to the airport. They have rooms available in May - I checked. They do have rooms that overlook a canal - they say. I think the price easily fits your range. The only thing is - it's a Marriott - which is fine with me - maybe not you. It's not central Venice but since we'll be there for several days, I'm not worried about that.
