  1. I used to live in Hawaii and have been to Pearl Harbor many times (retired Navy). Seems late for the Miracle to be pulling into Honolulu. We went on this cruise a long time ago (R/T from San Diego) and if memory serves, we pulled in around nine-ish. But with your schedule, going to Pearl Harbor is very doable. As pcvtmom mentioned, take an Uber. Taxis are also available at the port. I took a look at reservations out to the Arizona but it only goes through January 24th. Just keep an eye on it and when your day opens up, snag a couple of tickets for a launch leaving between 1:00-2:00PM. There is plenty to see while you wait for the boat to leave. For tickets go to https://www.recreation.gov/ticket/233338/ticket/16. You can do this! 🙂
  2. I took a quick look on Amazon and there are a bunch of suction cup grab bars but think you should go to a medical supply store as someone else suggested. It may cost more but you probably won't end up on the floor of your shower.
  3. The only mystery is how that effects B2B cruises. We're going on an Alaska cruise next year followed by a Panama Canal cruise (same ship) so about 17 days total.
  4. I will be turning Platinum a couple of days into an upcoming cruise and know on the first day of the cruise, I'll be a Plat. All of my paperwork says Gold except for the baggage tags (which states Platinum).
  5. Personally, I can't do a thing without gulping down at least two cups of coffee. So, every morning I order coffee and toast without the hassle of showering and getting completely dressed. When my wife is up and about, I'm ready to show myself and then we go to breakfast. So, no, we don't spend the cruise in the cabin. I do refuse to scare my fellow passengers with the way I look after climbing out of bed.
  6. JAN19872016 is doing a review now live from the Spirit (B2B2B, Alaska, Panama Canal and Carribean). He covered Alaska already and the ship is heading for the Panama Canal. I think, overall, they're having a great time. Take a look at it and form your own opinion. I was last on the Spirit back in 2014 for a Hawaiian cruise and loved the size of the ship. I didn't like the interior (Farcas design) but it didn't bother me after a couple of days.
  7. I'm looking forward to the story! Our balcony is an "obstructed view" but I've seen enough YouTube videos of this cabin and it shouldn't be an issue (lifeboats are just below the balcony so can't see the ocean looking directly down but a clear view straight out). Can't whine too much about it since I got it for the price of an Oceanview.
  8. I hope they get rid of that mask requirement (for cruises over 14 days) by the time we do this same trip a year from now.
  9. We're doing this next year and can't wait! I was a bit worried when they switched ships (Freedom to Spirit) but everything turned out great. Initially they had us in different cabins on the two legs. I called up our PVP and told her I didn't want to deal with moving. So, what did she arrange? We went from an Outside cabin to a Balcony for the same cost! Can't beat a good PVP! We were on the Spirit last back in 2014 for a R/T cruise from San Diego to Hawaii...one of our favorite cruises. Not a fan of the Farcas interior but after a few days didn't notice it.
  10. My Wife tends to get a bit seasick at times and Coves are great for her (and me). The lower the cabin and in the middle of the ship as much as possible, makes for a smoother ride. We've had Coves four times (I think) and if the ship has them, that's what we'll get.
  11. Formal dress for me means wearing shorts that are not frayed.
  12. Carnaval is obviously trying to save money while still navigating away from the COVID drama. But, if they're not taking care of their ships, customers will start drifting away and instead, go on RCCL or NCL. You don't want to be in a busy port on a ship like the Pride and be surrounded by beautiful ships from other lines and be embarrassed. I personally like the Spirit class though I've never been on the Pride. If that ship is really in that bad of shape (and the pictures indicate it is), Carnaval would be smart to pull it out of service for a yard period.
  13. I guess if you had paid for his cruise, you could have an opinion on how people cruise.
  14. Just taking a wild guess here but I don't think they realize they are inconsiderate. I think they're just morons with limited social skills.
  15. I learned my lesson years ago on my first cruise. Seems most doors on ships have industrial pneumatic "closers." On our last cruise, the people next door slammed their balcony door on the first day. I thought to myself, "Well, I hope they learned their lesson." They didn't. Morning, noon and night, when they either went to their balcony or came back in, the cabin walls would shake when they closed the door. I concluded they weren't the brightest lights on the Christmas tree. There is no cure for door slammers much like there isn't a cure for chair hogs.
  16. Before deciding on a particular cruise, I always ask myself, "What does Jamman think of this ship and its port calls?" and then go hunting for a review written by you and illustrated by Patti with her great pictures. I've been thinking of the Mardi Gras so your review will be invaluable. Thank you!
