  1. The Star class room includes the tips you normally get charged to your room. I do tip the room attendant over and above. We were 5 people in a 2 bedroom ATS. We tipped $100+ a day for the 5 of us. Not sure if that was enough. The genie planned our whole day and saved seats for us where ever we wanted. He took us in early for laser tag and other activities. He planned snacks and champagne for us to have for the water shows. He found us at our meals to make sure everything was perfect. He asked to get our laundry and Ironing done. He walked us on a off the ship. This was especially nice the last morning on the ship. Our luggage was waiting in a special area so we could move quickly in the crowds. As for other tips, we did have a waiter we liked at CK that we tipped, since we kept getting him. We left an extra cash tip at the pay restaurants. We also had $1-2 dollars tips for drinks we got on the drink plan. Life is too short to feel bad about getting good service and not rewarding it. It is clear the service industry works on tips.
  2. I think at D+, 5 drinks a day is more than I need. With my husbands status, that gives us 10 drinks a day. More than enough and a great selection of choices and bars all day!
  3. We were wondering if most of our meals could just be delivered to the room to eat on the balcony in Star class?
  4. I expect he will be fine. The movement is very little. I have been reading about people's rooms being moved because of covid measures. Don't be surprised if the room is changed. People are upset that they paid extra to actually pick a room and then their room was changed anyway. Hope it does not happen to you.
  5. I checked in for an Oct. 17 cruise about 2 weeks ago on Oasis. I would call.
  6. We look to book suites and they are frequently sold out. People want the double points along with a larger room and all the extra perks. With more than double point promotions, I am not surprised the suites are sold out.
  7. I liked wonderland and hope to go again! The food was different and the presentation was really special. The drinks were great too. Make sure you splurge on a drink there. We really liked it. Read the menu in the front or if it available on line. If you like it, go. To describe it would ruin it.
  8. Evian Water Analysis: Balance Still Nitrate 3.8 mg/l Calcium 78 mg/l Magnesium 24 mg/l Sodium 5 mg/l I want reverse osmosis water, purified water. I won't drink Evian. I hope this changes soon.
  9. So people are standing in line with other sick people in some areas, especially in Florida to get tested. That seems risky too! Then they get on a cruise ship 2-3 days later? There has got to be a better way?
  10. I was referring to no double points in JS IF you got it with Royal up. If you paid for a JS you do get the extra points. I have seen posts about the JS's not allowed to dine in CK. That is why we called Royal to verify. We said we don't see that on the website and they said it will come in a letter. I just wanted to let someone know not to count on it if they paid extra for a JS expecting to get in. If they are lucky and can still eat dinner in CK, I am happy for them.
  11. It is coming in a letter before you cruise. It is no longer a benefit of staying in a JS while they have capacity limits. Due to covid they are not allowing the Pinnacle to eat there either unless they are in a full Suite. You may have connections but personally knowing the Suite staff, High roller status, etc. is not a way around this rule right now. We tired contacting everyone. Even a large tip is not going to help. Rules are rules right now.
  12. We have a 1 royal, 3 grands and 2 junior suits booked on Anthem. 2 people in each room. We have confirmed with RCL that the junior suites will not be able to join us in CK. NO WAY they can join us for dinner. We may cancel all the reservations since we want to eat together every evening for dinner in CK. They have told us we will not be accommodated! Everyone single person is D+ also. More than 300 points at least for each person. Still a no go. Final payment is coming up quickly and we are still not sure what to do. I am in a Grand and I think we will give it up by switching the name on the reservation to one of the JS reservations but that still leaves one couple out. We checked and there are no suites available to upgrade at any price from the JS's.

  14. I saw someone mentioned you get Coastal Kitchen dinner in a JS. Due to overcrowding, that is not the case. You must be in a full suite not a JS to eat in Coastal kitchen. Even Pinnacles are not using CK right now. If you want the JS for the room, it is a very nice size. The other perks like the CK and double points do not come with it right now with the royal up bidding.
  15. I went to my prescription refill company on line and checked my history. Sure enough my vaccine shots show up in the history. I was worried since Walmart spelled my first and last name on my first vaccine card incorrectly. I did not see it until the second shot. Then they tore it up and asked me to spell it for them. They filled out a new card and handed it to me. I was worried the incorrect spelling might still be in the system. I have a photo of both cards in my phone just for the record. I just printed out my financial summary from caremark and it shows both shots! I just put it with my cruise documents just in case I need it. I want to cruise! If you were asked for your drug insurance card, it should be in the insurance system. It could be a backup for proof.
  16. I have never cruised on Regent but have a cruise planned with my in-laws in May. I expect an older crowd. I am looking forward to trying something new. We are late 50's. We have cruised a few times with my in-laws on Oceania in the past. The food was excellent. The evenings were boring. The shows were the quality of an 8th grade talent show. I was shocked how bad the shows were. But for a honeymoon... not sure if you plan to attend the shows. I have cruised NCL Haven many times and I enjoyed the experience. The Haven area is wonderful! The rest of the ship can be hectic. My mother in law got pushed on the stairs and spent the last 3 days in bed on our last cruise Jan. 2020. The Haven butler kept her ice packs coming. The shows on NCL are also really good. Food was OK, not great. The Haven restaurant was very good and catered you special needs. I have also cruised Royal Caribbean many times. I would recommend a suite! But for a real treat for a honeymoon I would recommend going star class and getting a Genie room. All your wishes are granted, seats in show rooms are saved for you. Reservations and activities are planned for you. Every meal, restaurant, and drinks are available in the price. The Genie arranges any restaurant you want at any time you want. Or since you will have a huge beautiful room, you could eat on your balcony or in the room. The Genie will bring you any meal you want on the ship. I think this is my favorite way to cruise. The shows are really good. The night life is for all age crowds around the ship. The food at the pay restaurants is very good. You do not pay anything extra for it in Star class. The Genie brings you anything you need. I am not needy but I enjoyed him suggesting activities we could do that day. and escorting us. Have you thought of changing ships and lines? Doing a few cruises and trying out different styles? Maybe see if you can line up getting off a ship in Italy or Greece and boarding another line. Or spend a few days in Barcelona, Spain and then take a different cruise? With the number of days you are cruising, I would spread those days out a little by cruising a few lines.
  17. I am enjoying this thread because it is different! I am not taking sides, just learning about different lifestyles! Wow... I am on Oasis in October. I hope to make some friends with workers so I can ask about this cruise afterwards!!! I am just curious, but not curious enough to cruise that week.
  18. I plan to drive to Bayonne from Jacksonville in mid October. We drive up north often. We plan to drive 12 hours the first day and stop with family in Bethesda. Then on to family in central Jersey. We board the ship together with our Jersey family. We always pack our meals and stop at rest areas. We take our time to Bethesda with a stop every 1.5-2 hours to stretch and hit the bathroom. It is a long ride but if you do it mid week, it is no big deal.
  19. As mentioned above, D+ gets 5 drinks any time of day. You choose what you want under $13. I have heard you can also pay the up charge above 13 but that may vary from ship to ship. If you are in a suite you can go to the lounge and get drinks too.
  20. just call the airline and tell them you will be getting off a cruise and you need a later flight?! I have done that many times when there were time changes on nonrefundable tickets.
  21. The Suite lounge has drinks. You go and get a drink there.
  22. I read your first post. What could have been a disaster was handled with class by your family and Royal. I am glad to hear your family is recovering. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Not sure why the first thread was pulled but glad to hear all is well. Sorry your vacation did not end well. But there will be more! Being vaccinated sure helped you get a mild case!
  23. I have gotten many price reductions in the past. It is the reason I stopped using a travel agent. I did a courtesy hold on the reservation on line. When I called on the phone to get my price adjusted just 10 minutes later, the price was gone. All the grands were booked. I was in a junior suite. I told the rep I even did a courtesy hold on the price and gave the RCCL phone rep the info. I was moved up to a Grand suite for only $25 pp more. The current price of that grand suite for that courtesy hold. This was before final payment. A courtesy hold only last 24 hours in the past. Not sure what the rules are now but it might give you a little more time to get the price reduction.
  24. I'm on an October cruise on Oasis and plan to drive from Florida to board the ship. We were hoping that NJ will enforce the 95%+ vaccinated!
  25. I have my cruises missing too! I have two booked and nothing is listed. One in October and one in December.
