  1. I read that, too, on an actual review for the Spectrum. The person was very angry and gave a bad review for the cruise, but my feeling is -- if you're dealing with China, you need to not only do your homework, but do everything possible on your end to make sure your trip goes as planned.
  2. I believe the latest you can book at this point is March 2021. We were originally going to go in Summer/Fall 2021, and the only way to book was to do a "future cruise" deposit on board until the dates came up. They did say, however, that more sailings would probably be available in a few weeks. We were given such great incentives if we booked an earlier cruise that we couldn't turn it down.
  3. I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences regarding the Best of Japan cruise out of Shanghai. From what little I've been able to find, I've gleaned the following: 1. The majority of cruisers are Chinese; 2. There are special areas only for cruisers in suites; 3. Although there are great features of the ship and great activities, many include a surcharge; 4. The food is geared toward the local cuisine (yum); 5. The cabins are very nice; 6. You need visas for China and Japan. Is there any more you can tell me, or elaborate on the above? Thank you.
  4. We were just on the Jewel for a Mediterranean cruise. We had a great time. The staff was fantastic, the activities were really fun, and the only criticism I have is that the dining room curtains desperately needed to be vacuumed. They had been pinned up for so long without cleaning that they had a good 1/2 inch of dust sitting on them. That aside, I would not hesitate to sail on her again.
  5. Thing I can't do without: my portable clothes steamer. Have a wonderful trip!
  6. It was awesome. Probably the most fun event we went to on the ship, and definitely worth the money. Make sure you dress for it -- there is a costume contest. 🙂
  7. I've been on six Royal cruises and am about to go on the 7th. I've taken two Carnival. My parents have traveled just about every cruise line there is. We always go back to Royal. The ships have been lovely, the staff has been extremely friendly and helpful, and the food was really good, and we didn't even go to any of the specialty restaurants. As far as negative reviews, you are going to find some people that won't be happy no matter what, and there are going to be occasional issues on any cruise line. If you booked the Harmony, you're on a lovely, big ship with a lot to do. I, personally, think you'll have a great time.
  8. Except...there are winners. My husband and I won a free cruise (which we took on the Oasis), on that cruise, he won $700. I know this is not the norm, but as long as you go into it knowing that you mostly likely won't win, and maybe just play a couple of days for for the larger prizes, you never know...you might get lucky. We did.
  9. It's hideous what they charge. We always do a pay as we go, and have never paid anywhere close to what the packages charge. Sent from my SM-G935V using Forums mobile app
  10. I've taken my kids on two cruises. Both times we were in one cabin. It was tight, but we weren't in the cabin very much. If you plan on spending most of your time out of the cabin, I wouldn't pay that much for a second cabin. Sent from my SM-G935V using Forums mobile app
  11. We bring refillable water bottles onboard (Yetis or the like). Then we just re-fill them on the ship The water is fine, and we have something to carry around.
  12. We won a free cruise at Bingo on one cruise, and $700 on the free cruise playing Bingo.
  13. Then I guess I'll find out on my next cruise, because I'll be on the Jewel. :)
  14. And yet it's still smaller than the Oasis and Allure. Not sure why you called me out.
  15. You should dress how you want...it's your cruise. There are so many variations of dress on formal nights. You will probably see people even more casual than you.
