  1. Some answers above to your Q's Best value cabins can be dependant on the voyage sales - worth shopping around A sheltered balcony on a TA is fun
  2. Yes the free flights to/from UK on the Antarctica voyages (plus No single supp too on a couple of voyages) make for good reading - These offers can be combined and the free flights offers end 31/03/2021. The cruises seem to go (depending if in 2022 or 2023) to/from LON to Santiago or Buenos Aires - two of the longest non-stop scheduled flights in the world. Hurtigruten told me they usually have contracts with BA direct from LHR or sometimes via Madrid with Iberia. Upgrades to BA's WTP+ and Club can be sought at 11 months prior to departure. Seats together and extra leg room can also b
  3. superb blog on the worlds most famous liner, exactly as it should be
  4. New Just in - Cunard extend suspension of cruises until July 31. Cunard has also called off the Alaska season of Queen Elizabeth, meaning departures for that ship are cancelled up to and including September 8th https://www.cunard.com/en-gb/contact-us/travel-health-advisories
  5. QM2 8013 - same as 8014 basically a full view - good cabin
  6. All the approx 250 passengers who were allowed to remain on the WC at Freemantle all of whom stated they were deemed Unable/Unfit to Fly....I gather Cunard required proof of that. Funny that some USA pax on board now are quite OK to want a flight back PDQ from the UK to get home to the USA!! What a travesty... The QM2 is not sailing to NYC any time soon - As for what Cunard does with the NYC originating WC passengers I do not know but I would think that Cunard has a duty to house them until the ship can operate again if they cannot fly. If any pax now elect to get a flight home f
  7. I doubt any announcement about proceeding further with any new Carnival let alone a Cunard ship will be seen before Q3 this year. I can see the whole project on the back burner for quite a while until recovery of the industry (and us too) is stable
  8. I read she is to go to Portland Dorset to anchor
  9. this is 8078 - Had this for 2 weeks - all very nice, standard Britannia Balcony cabin - spacious with a small sofa 8077 will be more obstructed by the end of the LB/Tender 8095 should be a similar outlook to 8078
  10. We can pontificate all day about a name but the OP was actually about if we ever now will get a new ship LOL
  11. do we know how many pax stayed on board the biggest ferry in the world?
  12. Just be patient - they will get in touch - Your summer cruise is a way off yet.
  13. Very sorry to learn of the WC canx'd and most pax (1500+) will now have to fly home - We were due on at CPT to SOU but canx'd 2 weeks ago. I hope Cunard are telling the airlines to waive all excess baggage charges as many folk will have way over most airlines Y or even J baggage allowances. I might add if you are a US passenger and are now having to be heading back home then get Cunard to book you going East (over the Pacific) and not West to the UK and then onwards.........Its chaos here with UK-USA air travel.
  14. Deffo - I agree - - US pax should seriously think of getting off in FLL and NOT to continue to the UK with the idea they will be able to get back home - Cunard should strongly advise that to them - Both ends of air travel between UK and US are descending into chaos. Anyone who thinks this is going to improve or settle soon is deluded sorry.
  15. Only some WC pax are remaining on board from Perth back to SOU who are not able to fly home... Not sure if she is still calling at CPT to disembark any non-flyers there. All other pax were disembarked and Cunard is flying them home. QE will go empty back to SOU
  16. M009 from CPT to SOU is not nearly full - there is a loads of availability at cheaper than ever fares - I've canx'd and spoke to Cunard today and she said that the cancellations for it are immense. Madeira has stopped all cruise ships at the moment so that call plus Tenerife are both under review - what a shame plus I am puzzled why of all cruises they are not now honouring the $900 OBC they were giving - bizarre
  17. HAL already have a 3rd Pinnacle Class on order too, the Ryndam - Same type as the new Cunarder The Cunard build is not that advanced yet at the yard AFAIK
  18. Commerce s being affected all over - both Easyjet and Norwegian airways stock lost 20% this week - Easyjet company value went from £6bn to £5bn ouch
  19. Just watched an old British movie from 1952 set on board the old RMS QE and there were white DJ's seen both in the restaurant and in the famous Verandah Grill (which exists again on Cunard ships today) you will be prefect and fit in
  20. Indeed, even for us Brits for some us the South Pacific is new to us, and I for one would have loved it if QE could have called at some more South Sea islands, and maybe NZ to on her way over to Vancouver - what a shame - Cunard could have made this one quite special in view of ob-virus reasons lol
  21. The naming has been put back - From a pax on the QM2 3 day ago - Captain Hashmi gave a wonderful humorous speech. He is still teasing us that he knows the name of the new Cunard ship. Actually the big reveal of the name was meant to be on February 11th, but it has been changed to a later date. The speculation on board is that the name will be revealed at the World Voyage Gala in Melbourne next month. Anyway the captain hinted that the name might not be a queen at all........nor do I. Aquitainia or Mauretania is my bet
  22. I'm afraid the rhetoric has all ramped up a bit today - Iran + Hezbollah has publicly advised that it will attack Dubai and Haifa if US retaliates against Iran to this morning's attacks on the US Army bases in Iraq... QM2 sails in 2 days from SOU via Haifa and Suez to Dubai with calls in Jordan and then on to Muscat Has Cunard made any statement yet?
  23. Apparently from a FB post she has turned around again for a 2nd Med Evac....? I'll try and find updates on this....
  24. I should imagine Cunard are having kittens right now and burning the midnight oil as to whether they will allow their flagship to approach the Persian Gulf and UAE on it's World Cruise voyage due to leave next week on 10 Jan sailing down via the Suez. Will we see the UAE stops getting canned? And see the ship sail direct from Suez much further south to Thailand thus avoiding the region? Worrying times for cruise lines operating there. I'm not on it (We get on in CPT on the way home) but this is a right old time just now.....UK are sending 2 warships to the region now in a protection ro
  25. My money is on Aquitania (I hope not another Queen) Thanks for the heads up on name announcement day
