  1. Brands vary by cabin type. In which type of cabin are you cruising?
  2. There are cruises on which there have been "happy hour" specials for all passengers. I did not pay much attention to the details since it was not relevant to me, but I do recall sering, at least on some days, 2 for 1 specials for a limited time frame. Promtions were listed in the daily events publication and online app. Perhaps another poster can provide the details you seek. But the concept of some form of happy hour does appear on at least some days, on some cruises.
  3. We recently sailed Edge Honolulu to Vancouver in May. Weather during the reverse itinerary may be a bit warmer for you a little later in the year?? The indoor pool was popular mid- cruise. Weather was warmer closer to Hawaii, not so much in the middle of the Pacific. We thought the waters were slightly rough at times, but experienced cruisers have likely experienced more "challenging" waters. I did not encounter anyone complaining of sea sickness, but some novice cruisers may have been bothered by the waters. The central point to remember is "past performance is no guarantee of future results."
  4. I agree with you. There is more to this story than what we have been told. The best time to obtain "recourse" would have been at PHL airport and get the airline to find alternative routings to Lisbon. Was the air ticket booked through NCL? Also, why did the poster drive home from PHL to Phoenix? If AA could not deliver the passengers to their cruise, the trip from PHX to PHL would have been in vain, and that opens up an opportunity for at least some refund. Relevant details have ben omitted by the original poster.
  5. This might not be much of a problem for you since you are from Houston, but Summers in Japan can be quite warm and humid. You may want to consider packing enough clothes to allow for frequent changes and two showers a day. Will you be able to get by with only carry-on luggage? As noted above, laundry turn around time has been 36- 48 hours in my experience, so that may require additional clothing. Anyway, just something to consider.
  6. I usually select my arrival time around 1:00 pm or later. For me, arrival time = boarding time. I suspect passengers with earlier times may on occasion have to wait to board; just guessing.
  7. Aqua Class does not have any bearing on the general embarkation procedure. 45 days prior to boarding, you will be able to "check-in" online for your cruise. This is the opportunity for you to select a boarding time. If you desire an early time slot, be sure to check-in promptly at the 45-day mark. That is, it would behoove you to not wait until day 44; the earliest time slots are popular. 😉 After boarding you will be able to go to your cabin to drop off carry-on baggage and pick-up your Seapass card (=room key). Your cabin may still be in the process of being prepared, so it is recommended that you do not stay in your cabin longer than necessary; drop of your bag, get your sea pass, and go to lunch.
  8. It is nice to read a poster's after-cruise comments when they had asked a question and got advice on Cruise Critic. Such comments provide current information and updates to the information you received. I wish more posters would follow-up 😉
  9. Strangely no, there is no definitive answer. Partner and I have the exact same number of points, yet I have one additional cruise. Yes, points, not just status. I have 19 cruises, he has 18.
  10. it seems to me that you will experience a genuine omakase meal in Kyoto, rather than the pre fixe Japanese meal masquerading as omakase onboard. I hope it lives up to your expectations.
  11. On the Celebrity board, we shorthand it by using X. Nobody uses CXC, and CCL might be reference to Carnival Cruise Line. Welcome to this web site.
  12. Which dining rooms are you thinking about? Are you confusing the Equinox with an Edge-class of ship, which have four main dining rooms?
  13. We did not have ruined clothes, but the soot kept us from sitting without wiping down the chairs, and we avoided leaning on railing. Yet other cruisers report no soot at all. "You pays your money and you takes your chances". Like you, once was enough for us on S-class ships.
  14. I am feeling a kinship.....😉 about a week ago on Millennium
  15. I am on Millennium as I write this in Penang, Malaysia. Passengers did not have to do anything for Malaysia; ship took care of any documentation. All passengers (with a few exceptions) flying into Singapore are required to complete an electronic arrival form within three days of arrival. Paper forms distributed on the plane is an outdated process from ancient times 😉 Our cruise does not visit Indonesia, so we can't help you with that.
  16. The yogurt portion is quite small; it is layered between the bottom layer of what I would call blueberry pie filling, and top layer of some mixture of granola and crunchy stuff (similar to rice crispies cereal. I did not discern any nuts, but be sure to ask on board if this is important to you. The presentation was very appealing, but if you want yogurt it will be in short supply in the parfait. I preferred the muesli item, and will try the chia seed pudding tomorrow. The "breakfast cups" are not large, so you might want to order one of these along with another selection.
  17. I noticed a small change to menu on Millennium November 24 2024. The beverage selection remains unchanged.
  18. I agree with the previous posters. Something is wrong here. Do not pay any fees and do not continue interacting with this person/company. Cruise fares include taxes and fees. It really seems as if you called a scam number. Proceed with caution
  19. It would be helpful if you were to mention your particular cruise. My Millennium cruise later this month does indeed display the MDR menus.
  20. On future cruises, it would behoove you to read the Captain's Club information sheet that should be in your cabin when you embark. Often the paper is printed on both sides. It is very useful for passengers new to Elite level, especially those coming over from RCL who may be unfamiliar with the Celebrity program.
  21. In the Classic package, what is meant by "juices"? Does this include fresh squeezed orange juice, such as what is offered in Blu and at Elite breakfast?
  22. This is a frequent topic here. This thread is longish, but answers your questions. Do not bring your own extension cord; ship will provide one.
  23. Your memory is intact. 😉 I had been on some first-day tours years ago on M & S ships but these seem to have disappeared. However, I would suggest you ask your cabin attendant to give you a "tour" of your cabin features. I did not know what I did not know: On my first, and maybe only, E-class cruise, it took me a few days to locate the hair dryer and a few more days to discover the little black button to turn off the bright mirror light in the main cabin. At the end of the cruise, I was still not confident in using the electronic HVAC control panel. In retrospect, I should have asked the attendant for a cabin orientation.
  24. I will do my first SQ premium economy in late November SFO-SIN. I was tempted by business class but I remembered that my partner and I have not slept well in flat seats we have had on UA, Swiss, LH. Short naps are the best we can hope for. Therefore we could not justify the extra money for business class. We could afford it, but we have a long history of being frugal and always searching for value. We did spend a bit more (~$100 each) to reserve the bulkhead row to get extra legroom. SQ has made some small upgrades to their food and beverage offerings in premium economy - upgraded champagne, meals are served on china and the "book the cook" option is available.
  25. It is interesting to read about the variations in practice for monitoring admission to the breakfast. Obviously there are no "right" or "wrong" posts on this thread - just different experiences. On my longer cruises, I have been asked to show my sea pass on the first few days....and then the Captain's Club host seems to disappear from the entrance; occasionally seen circulating among the passengers, but often not seen at all.
