Cool Cruiser
  1. Well this is good news, I would always cringe when people put their lips on those whistles and blow..no telling where those lips have been!

How to get alcohol bottles back home?

What the others have said, and if we have any opened bottles of liquor left, we give it to the cabin stewards...they appreciate it.

Anyone ever see anything bad on a cruise?

I saw a woman do that in a J.C. Penny's store--and she wasn't from this country either!

    Recipes from the Carnival Kitchens

Thank you so much for posting this recipe!! I have made it twice now and both times it turned out fantastic! The only thing I omitted was the 1/4 cup of sugar and I used Splenda instead (a little less than 1/4 cup). This is a good recipe for anyone who is diabetic or watching their carb intake. Add a scoop of lo-carb vanilla ice cream and you're in heaven! P.S. I used 1-1/2 bags of 60% cocoa semi-sweet chocolate chips instead of the squares.

Why would anyone remove the pre-paid gratuity?

We went to the pursers desk at the end of the cruise to pay off our S&S card and we told the purser the story as to why we want it deducted. All other tips remained and we paid them.

Why would anyone remove the pre-paid gratuity?

I removed a tip only one time. We gave our cabin steward a nice tip the very first day and told him to keep our ice bucket filled. He stuck it in his pocket and we had to go to Lido to fill the bucket ourself! We didn't complain to anyone, but as far as I was concerned, he didn't deserve that extra tip and we removed the amount we gave him.

Haiti - Passengers bringing donations along?
What is there to loot aside food and water perhaps? There is absolutely nothing gratuitous there... There is no running water or shelters or anything that is needed... and while I agree there is always scum of the earth ready and willing to take advantage... If I were a mother with children i would be looting too, to feed my kids... The serious issues are going to come in the next 24-48hrs when pallets of aid start being distributed.... That's what the Marines are there for...
Yep, it's going to get bloody with those prisoners running around loose and I understand they have guns are roaming around as gangs and are looting what's left. It will be a war zone no doubt on top of a tragic situation. I'm sure there will be some complaints about the food coming in. Those high protein biscuits weren't won over too well in Afghanistan with the refugees.
  9.
Who cares  Which ever one is cooking so my wife and I don't have to. I don't understand the purpose of a thread like this. Both Carnival and RCCL are great cruiselines. They are more alike than different. Now, if the purpose is just to stir up controversy and get the cheerleaders bickering at one another, then that's a whole new level of something else.
I second that...everyone has different taste buds...I'll eat anything except liver and onions, and escargot.

Haiti - Passengers bringing donations along?
Grrrrrrrrrrrr.. this is a sore spot for me. Also when I worked Hurricane Rita CAT claims in the Beaumont Texas area, another "poor" area, there were thousands of claims where people were making fraudulant property and loss of use claims for expensive restaraunts, ordering "Top Shelf" Margaritas and other ridiculous items (replacement clothes from Neimans, replacement toys from "Build-a-bear" and everyone had at least 3 plasma TV's, all mattresses in the house were pillow top king size, 2 freezers full or shrimp, "French door" Titanium refrigerators, 2 carat wedding rings lost "in the hurricane" etc, with homes valued @ $40-$60k ?? As if !! There was so much fraud, the insurance company I worked for went bankrupt. Poor people may be poor but they aint stupid !
BINGO! There's already looting going on in Haiti, just like it did with Katrina. Our tax dollars are already being used to help the people in Haiti. I don't feel guilty for not sending anything extra, they will scream that it is still not enough. Oh well....

Group dining or seek a table for two?

I view it as luck of the draw. We've had good luck and bad luck, but the saving grace is, there's a way of escape. If you don't fit in with your table mates, ask to be moved. Even if you end up by yourselves, you're still in good company. :D
