  1. Thank you from beautiful Lake Ontario. The Fall colours are spectacular!
  2. Hi Jacqui: Pictonite looking forward to sailing again, after our somewhat challenging cruise this past January/February on the lovely Westerdam. On to, hopefully, new adventures. October 17, 2021 - Zuiderdam. 24 day Mediterranean Empires and Romance. (See you'll be on the Zuiderdam after us - isn't it good to look forward to a cruise again?) Annette
  3. Thank you for this. A reminder to me of how wonderful the Westerdam crew were to those of us who spent far too many sea days in February, trying to find our way home!
  4. Orlando Ashford has left the hotel and is bringing the rest of the passengers still on the Westerdam to our hotel. They will arrive late this afternoon on buses. They will then join with us to await flights home. We expect that repatriation will take a few more days! We understand that Holland America knows which countries will allow us safe passage, and will route us accordingly.
  5. I am here in the hotel. The testing was conducted by a health team - some of whom were in full hazmat gear - and consisted of a temperature check, a medical information form and two swabs - one nasal, and one throat. Please do not give false information . We are now waiting to be flown home. We are virus free!
  6. Please quote your source. Anxious people in PhnomPenh are still waiting to hear!
  7. Hello again: When we were docked in Sihanoukville on day 1, those not having flights arranged that day were allowed to go to beaches on buses organized by the ship. Some passengers made their way into town. When we disembarked we were escorted onto buses on the pier. We had a police escort to the airport and we were delivered straight to the tarmac and the plane. The president of Holland America is here in the hotel today- in meetings. People are still undergoing testing. Now I'm signing off to enjoy the lovely gardens of the hotel
  8. Just an update from one who is in Phnom Penh waiting to return home. (That is - on the front line!) There have been several discrepancies reported on this board so - here goes! We were all given a health screening the day we were allowed to leave the ship. We left the ship on Saturday morning and were driven to the Sikhanoukville airport where we flew on a chartered plane to Phnom Penh. There more chartered planes were supposed to take us onwards to Kuala Lumpur for connecting flights home. As we waited in line for that flight we were informed that Malaysi
  9. We are indeed packed and ready to do whatever Holland America has planned to get us home. We have American disease control personnel on board. I also understand that a Canadian disease control person is waiting for us on land. As a Canadian, that is nice to know! I don't think that we will be seeing any movement for passengers until tomorrow. We still have to dock, and I was told that there are buses at the dock waiting to take passengers to the airport, where there are chartered planes waiting to take us to Phnom Penh for regular flights. I just would like everyone to kn
  10. We are scheduled to leave Taiwan in 2 hours. Because of the virus discovered on the Asian cruise ship we were denied landing today - although we were on shore yesterday. All Taiwan ports are not available. We are on our way to Japan. We are supposed to dock in Ishigaki on Feb. 7 - a day early, then on to Naha , Okinawa, for an overnight. As stated by Sailing Dutchy, we are still having a great time. The Westerdam crew is amazing!
  11. Here's the updated itinerary for the remainder of our cruise - until Saturday, February 15: Tuesday February 4 arrive Kaohsiung, Taiwan at 7:00 a.m. Depart Kaohsiung Wednesday, February 5 at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6 arrive Keelung (Taipei), Taiwan at 7:00 a.m. Depart Keelung Friday February 7 at 5:00 p.m. Saturday February 8 - Ishigaki Island Japan. Arrive 8:00 a.m. Depart 5:00 p.m. Sunday February 9 - Naha, Okinawa, Japan. Arrive 8:00 a.m. Depart 6:00 p.m. Monday February 10 - At Sea (East China Sea) Tuesday February 11 - Busan (Pusan), South Korea.
  12. Actually what happens now is that we are sailing to our next port of call, which has been changed. We now will dock in Kaosiung tomorrow, and stay overnight before continuing on to our other port of call in Taiwan. The,- as far as we know now, on to Japan. We have been on the ship since Singapore, like the Australian couple in the ABC news article. A few comments: No-one on the ship is wearing a mask. The staff at the front desk have been very polite and understanding. We have not seen any rudeness on their part. The Exc staff have worked tirelessly to give info
  13. Update: The captain has informed us that we will disembark in Yokohama on February 15. We are going with the flow. We have an extra day in Halong Bay rather than two days in Hong Kong. Right now Halong Bay sounds so much better for us! We'll disembark passengers in Hong Kong on February 1, and new passengers will embark then. Still loving the cruise.
  14. You know more than we do - on the Westerdam right now. Expecting to disembark in Shanghai on February 15. The captain has said that we plan to sail with the advertised itinerary , and will keep us informed as he hears from Seattle. We'll just have to wait for the official word. We have our travel agent on standby to change flight plans if and when they are needed.
  15. As promised! We ate in the Pinnacle Grill last night, and chose from the Tamarind portion of the menu. One page of the Pinnacle Grill menu is dedicated to the Tamarind. It consists of three starters, three main courses and one dessert. We selected the shrimp tempura, the sea bass, and declined the dessert in order to enjoy our favourites from the regular Pinnacle menu. That selection will be changed tonight - and it will change weekly. We did not see the new selection, but will have a chance to see it when we attend a special "Vietnam" evening later this week. I'll also ask
