  1. Just my opinion but based on everything that has been happening with the airlines I'll bet this is an airline move. Our flight was cancelled by the airline at the very last minute. I would call Princess early Monday morning when they first open up and see what the deal is.
  2. Same thing for us on the Caribbean Princess in June. 😃
  3. Check out this website. It shows Brooklyn. We're on the 8/15 sailing on the Caribbean Princess and our Princess website itinerary shows the same thing. It is wrong and should be fixed to avoid confusion. https://nycruise.com/schedule/
  4. MDR is open for lunch from 12:00 to 1:30 on embarkation day. It will also be open on sea days (longer hours). Also, if it's a late port day (e.g. 12:00 or later) it "might" be open. The specialty restaurants won't be open for lunch.
  5. If I'm wrong I'm pretty sure I will be corrected 😉, but I believe the abbreviations weren't necessarily intended for passenger (or Cruise Critic) use. Rather they are intended for internal use and have been co-opted by this forum. As long as the folks at Princess know what each acronym means we should be all set. 😃
  6. That's as accurate an estimate was we're ever going to get. It comes from Johns Hopkins University. Feel free to deny this level of reliability. https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html
  7. Or the 6.4 million deaths worldwide in 2.5 years (much more than any other recent historical outbreaks such as flu or noro). I'm not being sarcastic. It's just that there seems to still be many unknowns going forward given all the variants and the continued issues with long COVID, even among those with mild symptoms. I don't have a solution. I understand why so many think it's time to ease up or eliminate protocols. I just think it's still too early to eliminate vaccine requirements and masking requirements in certain indoor settings.
  8. Just curious, where do you see the Caribbean Princess (the subject of this thread) as scheduled for a world cruise itinerary? I only see the Island and coral.
  9. I would imagine that's because the Universe Lounge was eliminated as part of the Island's "updating".
  10. LNG is Liquified Natural Gas. Bunkering is referring to the way the gas is delivered to the ship. Only some ports have this ability.
  11. Here's the best place to ask your question. Good luck. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/116-northern-europe-amp-baltic-sea/
  12. I'm guessing, and I really mean guessing, that staffing the ship would have been to difficult. There are still lots of shortages.
  13. That's because the first cruise on the Sapphire is a 10 day Mexican Riviera on September 24th.
  14. It's called EZ Check. We just used it after our Caribbean Princess cruise in Ft. Lauderdale. We've used it multiple times before and as always it was great. The only caveat is your airline has to be a participant but most are.
  15. We've taken quite a few Princess cruises in many different parts of the world. As has been said many times, you will see a broad spectrum of clothing styles. Certainly non U.S. based cruises, especially in Europe, you will see more folks following the traditional formal guidelines. Having said that, we recently returned from a Caribbean cruise on the Caribbean Princess and I was quite surprised by the significantly higher number of passengers that went all out compared to our expectations. That's not to say that there weren't many who were more casual. It was very noticeable. My theory (take it for what it's worth) is that this was after most schools were out for the summer. As a result there were many families AND there was an unusually large percentage of first time and newer cruisers. I have to say it was kind of nice. It wasn't so much traditional tuxedos and evening gowns but rather lots of dressy contemporary "youthful" clothes.
  16. Been to Alaska twice. Both times in July. The first time was beautiful weather everyday (including our 7 day land portion on our own). The second time it pretty much rained everyday. Definitely a crap shoot. I also agree with picking an itinerary that includes Glacier Bay and a Grand Class ship.
  17. It was near capacity on our cruise which ended 6/25. Never once did I feel it was crowded. Everybody has their own perceptions.
  18. Just curious, where do you see this package offered? Do you have a link? I see the Classic Soda Package which id fountain soda, not canned.
  19. Just finished a week on the Caribbean Princess. Had a great time. MDR and specialty restaurant food was excellent. Didn't eat much in the buffet but when we did it was fine. Crew was fantastic also.
  20. I'm guessing this was particular to the Ruby. We just returned from the Caribbean Princess and the buffet was consistently open until about 11:00 PM. Also, the IC was open later than midnight. I can't vouch it was open 24 hours but definitely later than midnight.
  21. As stated above, it's for one night only. If you are also asking if Princess has any type of Specialty Dining package where you can dine multiple times for a discounted price (as NCL has), the answer is no.
  22. $29 https://www.princess.com/downloads/pdf/Onboard_Experience/Crown-Grill-Menu-Sample.pdf
  23. Sorry but this Yank needs a translation. 😉😁
