  1. Maybe somebody with inside knowledge concerning the logistics of how the cruise industry plans itineraries can chime in. I guess I assumed when an itinerary is offered there is some communication between the cruise line and the port to confirm dates and berth availability. Having said that, I would think this would not currently be possible with Russian ports. I would assume communicating with the port authorities would be a violation of of the sanctions. I'd like to hear from anyone that might have first hand knowledge. Also, besides for a Stockholm overnight, I'd love to visit ports in Latvia and Lithuania. Also some additional ports in Sweden and Denmark (just not on the Island Princess as is being offered this year 😉). Finally, I'm pretty sure a vast majority of Cruise Critic users know you need to register your kids in advance. 😁
  2. I've noticed that Princess (as well as Celebrity and RCL) have included St. Petersburg on their 2023 Baltic itineraries. Given the current situation are folks that have booked these cruises doing so with the assumption that there still might not be an opportunity to visit SPB in 2023? I'm certainly not trying to cause any type of philosophical debate. I'm simply stating something that has to be considered. Certainly if the sanctions are still in place there won't be any SPB port calls. For me personally, I would welcome a Baltic cruise that called on some of the less visited ports in the Baltic states, as well as an overnight on Stockholm (as was done this year). BTW, I searched this board and was not able to locate any threads that discussed this topic.
  3. The reconfiguration was only on the Island Princess. The Coral was scheduled to also have these changes but they were never made.
  4. On the App go to Travel Checklist, then Health Status then Health Documents. It's very buggy, only allows you to upload one picture (so if your CDC Card has your boosters on the back you're out of luck) and then you get a message that the "Document Pending Approval". For us it has stayed that way for several days now.
  5. Doesn't the new "Premier" (or whatever it's called) pricing go into effect today or tomorrow?
  6. There appears to be no pricing for any cruise out of Southampton in July or August except for the Emerald. There must be some adjustment being made.
  7. Just to be clear, smoking is expressly prohibited from all cabins, including the balconies. If you are caught violating the rule you can be charged for the cleaning process.
  8. Just curious, did you not check the menu before making the reservation? You noted that there were a couple of courses either you or your husband didn't find anything to your liking. Anyway, sorry you didn't enjoy your experience. At least there was no cost. For us, we have always enjoyed Sabatini's.
  9. Slightly off topic but I have a couple questions about making reservations on board when in a suite. We want to go to Sabatini's for our complimentary embarkation night specialty restaurant dinner. Should we just call the dine line or go to the restaurant when we board? Will there be something in our cabin? Also, can I assume we'll be able to get a Crown Grill reservation even if they're telling non-suite passengers that they are all full? We generally like to dine at 8:00. Thanks,
  10. Actually, the entire Sapphire summer season out of LA was cancelled around 4/12. Didn't you get an email notification from either Princess or your travel agent? We did.
  11. Lisa, here is the correct place to post your roll call. It doesn't look like one has been started yet. Have a great cruise. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/215-island-princess-roll-calls/
  12. No disrespect intended, but this thread pertains to the issue of self service in the buffet, not the main dining rooms. 😀
  13. I wonder if it's a possibility that the current dry dock will see the elimination of both venues. I hope not. I liked them.
  14. How many days out is your return date? If it's not within the 330 day limit you won't be able to book yet.
  15. Crooners on deck 7 will be open. Certainly most of the bars on deck 15 (Lido) will be open (Calypso, The Mix and Outriggers) and if the weather is nice you''ll be outside.
  16. The first scheduled sailing is 4/26, an 18 day SF to FL Panama Canal cruise. The answer to the OP is most likely all bars will be open, or close to all. Are you asking about a specific bar?
  17. I know I'm late to this party but we haven't cruised since they restarted. We're sailing in June. However, am I mistaken? I thought the Abbott Binax Now Antigen tests that are monitored online were acceptable for boarding. Is this incorrect? Thanks,
  18. The general rule is if the itinerary starts or ends in NYC (or in your cases is RT from NYC) the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal is used. If NYC is just a port stop, Manhattan. However as they say, YMMV. 😉
