  1. Really enjoying reading your travel tails. There was another review a day or so ago, same stretch of the Danube but they reported problems at every port. Just goes to show how some cruisers can take things in their stride. The thing that disturbs me were the rude shop keepers in Passau (my home town) can you remember the names of the shop at at least the type of shop. Happy Christmas
  2. Can you confirm you were moved from Budapest to Kelheim? Or do you mean another town in Hungary as Kelheim is in Germany at the start of the Main-Donau canal. PS All Christmas Markets are crowded - something to do with tourists.
  3. You should be ok, some rain expected tomorrow. Once past Pfelling, shallows between Straubing and Deggendorf (after Regensburg) you will have pleasant cruising. Although you will miss most of the Christmas Markets (most close 23rd. December) if you are passing through Munich Airport, the Christmas Market there is open til 29th. December: https://www.munich-airport.com/2019-christmas-and-winter-market-7383787 Have a great cruise.
  4. Not a good day for cruise ships and collisions, what with the two Carnival shipsin Cozumel. Could be the Glühwein?☕
  5. Get yourself a good pair of ear plugs for Christmas, I always do when dear MiL comes for her Christmas visit. Have a great cruise.
  6. Wear what you feel comfortable in, a jacket is certianly not a must anywhere including Europe.
  7. Christmas Markets are open from 10:00 til 21:00 (approximately), starting late November and mostly closing on 23rd. December. Would be helpful if you posted the two itineraries for us to compare? A good cruise would be Budapest to Nuremburg a whole lot of markets there. Budapest as a pre-cruise stay is well woth the time, Passau although a beautiful town and the most wonderful people (happens to be my home town🍻) can be done in a day. The advantage of ending in the cruise in Passau or Nuremburg is that you are only a two hour drive from Munich Airport - con
  8. Don't forget: - Status Match to Diamond - Invite to sit at the Captain's Table - Tour of the Bridge - Future Cruisce Credit It has nothing to do with asking nicely - you have to smear their palm with $$ €€.
  9. Or the ship being scrapped, which ever is the longest.
  10. Have you checked Gpoogle Play or Apple if there is an app available?
  11. It was readable and well written. The only problem I has was I had to read it from 10 feet away then run the 10 feet to scroll down.🍻
  12. Time to update one's computer. The MV Iran Deyanat was taken in 21st. August 2008, that is over 11 years ago. Not fake news but old news.
  13. A question. Did you type your message wearing binoculars?
  14. Could this be the result of overindulgence with the Classic package?🍻
  15. The pirate thread in the Gulf of Aden is literally at ZERo risk, since the very heavy presence of international naval units. Thousands of ships pass through this area each year, when was the last attack that you heard of? There are more dangerous places because of piracy, i.e. West Coast of Africa - Nigeria or Malacca Straights near Singapore. Don't worry - be cruising.
  16. Seriously, there are things that can happen, weather, novovirus outbreak, immigration & customs. I like to have a backup plan so I don't have to worry and can enjoy the cruise. Have a great cruise (with plan B in your back pocket).🍻
  17. There are two large threads abouts, about the Rhine and Danube, giving actual uptodate information - including levels. In the past we could say how the river conditions would be in a certain month, but these days all predictions have gone out of the window. Even a crystal ball doesn't help. Some areas that are controlled by locks are less impacted by water levels, these being: a. Passau - Vienna on the Danube b. River Main and Main - Danube Canal. c. River Moselle
  18. Take a taxi, they are cheap, reliable, especially if you have luggage. ..
  19. To paraphrase Fawlty Towers: "Don't mention the cruise"
  20. The Pfelling measuring station hit 290 cm this morning. Must say it's not looking too good for the next two days, no rain in sight.
  21. Maybe this excursion has been mothballed.
  22. It would help to know if you booked direct or via a TA and in which country. Different countries - different regulations.
  23. Don't forget, if you are in Vilshofen on 1st. Dec., 6th. - 8th. Dec. and 13th. - 15th. Dec. the Floating Christmas Market is open: https://www.vilshofen.de/index.php/events/schwimmender-christkindlmarkt PS. If you think the boat starts to rock, don't worry it's not the boat but your intake of glühwein.☕
  24. Check out this thread, see meassage no. 2, I attached Costa's transfer shuttles (only have it in German), this is from September this year. If you need more help, just ask:
