Why not head into Terrace and get the tails there, maybe with some grilled veggies My fave is Waves burger, grilled onion, Rare, with the wasabi mayo they use on the Tuna or Mahi san. For fries... favor curry mayo as in Belgium/ NL Speaking of which Curry mayo goes super with Shrimp, Calamari and Mahi Actually CurryMayo or Bernaise makes pretty much everything taste good.. even corn dogs.....which is an entire other subject
  2. No your not dumb......... heck I have 10 times that on deposit for 2022 + cruises and am not worried a bit... When the world quakes in fear... that is the time to buy ...investing in your future cruses being one. $1500 is not a big chunk of change to most...if it is, then maybe you should re-evaluate To get what you want in life you have to take risks. The more the risk the greater the potential gain. Now, assuming your wise enough to pay any and all deposits with a CC like Chase VISA's that have $20,000 in travel insurance, there is zero risk of anything. AND your deposit is earning you miles or points. I see less than a 0.1% risk you would be taking..... are you good with that...??? You stand more of a risk in the checker at the market over charging you on Milk.

Because they are damm good. There is very little difference I found. Like people who love a restaurant because of where it is... It will ALWAYS be better in their eyes because it is where it is. Familiarity! Not Reality... Beauty in their eyes Now the big seagoing housing projects afloat, like on the "Obscenity of the Seas", their once a cruise Lobster night complete with scooter jams and rampant greed ( like people ordering 3-4-5- tails)... with spiny lobster over cooked to the extent that you could caulk a hole in your shoe. From Melanesia or Belize . ( where Red Lobster gets its supply) Cooked to rubber like shrimp . Best lobster I found is getting "chicken" lobster 1.25 lb... and getting 2 That will net you claw and tail about 8-9 0z of net meat Getting a big bug of over 1.75+ will be far less tasty. Getting the 15 lb at the Palms will only please the kitchens bottom line.

Lobsters live in the sea and eat stuff with iodine in it. Scallops, Mussels, Crab, flounder all bottom creatures... and live in seawater with different Ph... . lobsters from location A can taste different than location B on the same coast. Even further, lobsters in A can vary according to the season that what the sea is doing at that time and the Gulf Stream.... Its a big ocean almost 4000 miles of coast line in Maine.... lots of variables in 4000 miles

Yes but nothing like the steamed whole lobster in Polo... #1 By the way I found that Albertson here in So cal carries 8 oz Canadian lobster tail for $14.95. Seafood joints like Giovanni in Morro or Santa Monica seafood are running $ 24 for 6 oz tail. Or get crazy and go for the Australian 28 oz tals for $ 99 @...... Now in my past reference to Portland Me. You can get 2 lobsters corn potatoes and roll for $24.95 !!! High roller has lobster Tempura Lobster pops on a stick ( move over corn dog)

    lobster

Ok...Lobster report: Lobster is served, every day in the Terrace, Waves, Polo, Jacques and Toscana., so relax and enjoy All are served grilled except in Polo which is steamed . Only Polo serves Maine lobster the rest are Spiny Lobster. I find grilled or steamed lobster, served warm with tarragon butter to be the pinnacle of lobster. From my last lobster attack in Maine ( Lobster roll, Lobster Fritters, Lobster Sushi, Lobster stew , Lobster Bisque) Mc Donald's in Maine serves seasonal Lobster Rolls. Red Lobster is next in poor taste. Eating one is a class # 3 felony . Eating a lobster roll with anything but Mayo or Butter is a class #2 felony. I found that cold lobster, cooled or cold had 1/3 the taste of fresh cooked hot or warm lobster. Cold lobster becomes rubbery and gelatinous and while fairly better than NO lobster is Never as good as Warm. ( unless you have imbibed s whole lot of ethanol) I find marginal taste difference between Maine and Spiny lobster Spiny lobsters I rate in this order of taste and texture 1. Australian 2 California 3 Caribbean 4. Mediterranean( Langostine ) Of the Maine variety: 1. Maine 2. Brittany Blue 3 Canadian. To further break down lobster world Summer produces in the Maine and Canadian region Soft shell lobster after they molt Later season Lobsters are Hard shell and not quite as tender as energy goes into making a new shell not meat. Maine has the un questioned most lobster places to eat 1 Lobster Pounds are the best, , Bar Harbor and Camden and Wincassett region of Maine having the best ( Mc Loons, Thurston are standouts) 2 Mom and pop. ( High Roller Lobster and Porthole Portland being the best) Portland providing the best seafood foodie experience on the east coast according to Bon Appetite There you go... print this but do not show it to Vegans or Green Peace ... they erect Lobster memorials for fallen lobsters and curse those who they consider viel people who actualy eat lobster. One step above infanticide and cannibalism in their eyes
  9. Glad you liked it....Saw daily people accosted. one guy had his shoes stolen off his feet when he put them up ! Then the fake taxis that load your stuff and take off without you. Saw bums sleeping in doorways in main streets, across from hotels.Worse than San Fran . Seemed like they were everywhere and not confined to any one part. The cemetery was full of them. Just a jumble of rich and abject poverty all thrown together. Was there for 2 days... Do not ever want to return..scary and I do not scare easily. On tours we were warned not to stray from the exact places we were taken as it was not safe. As I said I have been in a LOT of 3rd world places, some in war time, and Buenos Aires scared me. I will say that when you get 30 or so miles out of town the problems seem to go away, but the cities??? Scary.
  10. well it is summer time and the warmest Feb is their August. Fog is present many times in coastal waters at that time. I had an outside cabin and because of the constant cold we could never get the cabin warm and transferred to an inside. Many ports are very" third world" with crime a big factor. Most uprising was that the highly touted Buenos Aires was scary with bums and con people everywhere. Many fellow passengers were victims. Have fun but remember they are having hard economic times and many are turning to "alternative incomes". You have to be very situational aware...more than normal.
  11. Read the thing The ship would not be in transit it would be anchored or moored to launch tenders,.. and stationary to do so So no to tenders from a ship like that. Ships can MOVE through the waters as long as the do not stop. Again no stopping Seem pretty clear to me..
  12. John Wayne said it well" life is tough..its even tougher if your dumb". What is truly scary is somehow these malfeasance's get into power positions .
  13. Then send out your laundry. It is not all that expensive. I have no idea what Oceania will do Here is my bottom line I am paying many hundreds of dollars or more a day to enjoy the ambiance of the ship. Doing my own laundry to save a few dollars is penny wise but pound foolish to me. I may be paying up to $100 an hour for ship experience and my laundry will cost me $40 ! Not a savings to me... wash your sox and undies in the sink and send the rest out and have fun instead of fighting to get the dryer or washer !!! Life is short, time is valuable
  14. After doing several 20+ day cruises on R ships I discovered that after the first 4 or 5 days that it was easy to book almost any restaurant and venue. People on short 7-10 day cruises have more of a problem. However, on a almost 30 day cruise, trans-pacific, you will find wide open options as people get tired of specialties and opt for a more varied menu in the main dining room. . Do not get all wound up with pre cruise stress . I opt now for inside cabins on long cruises as it gets me out of the cabin and socially active on these wonderful ships.. I discovered that location is king... Like for me, being close to the foward elevator. Here you can zip up or down Getting a inside on deck 8 , on the same deck as the Pent Houses, proved wonderful.. zip up to the pool deck feet away...or horizons... or down to the show... Location Location location Insides on deck 8 foward. In a transpacific sail do not expect a view much of the time like for 50-70% of the cruise except for the thin blue line on the horizon. Another, factor on tropic cruises is air condition cooling... Outside temps and humidity can be high and thus outside cabins can get a lot of "heat" sink in the steel around them making them less than cool even with the AC punched up . All while the inside cabins remain wonderful . Thats my experience.... consider it as to your taste. Sailing on the EPIC is nothing like Regatta. You will find a very different low key oasis with 80% less people and 100% less problems There is NO difference in Concierge cabin comfort and regular Veranda's in my experience.
  15. ORV.... as you commented recently , in relation to another poster, some people you just can not fix. Maybe it is the water in Reno?...They are not smart enough to figure out how dumb they are.....You can not fix that only shake your head. Too, in the past 3-6 months look at not so much who was manipulated but who did the manipulating !!!
  16. Well come along Sept 2021 out of NY for a 10 day lobster cruise on the Insignia....Or Sept 27 out of AMS on the Marina 2022.... Buy you a drink. .
  17. In truth..I would pay serious money not to be in the Canadian health system... more than happy with my health insurance I would never want to loose it for another
  18. Say it aint so..................... what a world what a world..... Seriously, with capacity cut, and costs of fuel and food, labor rising... is not this a supply and demand equation? When will demand exceed supply not only in this but in other things like cabins giving opportunity to raise fares to what the market will bear.? If you ran a business and could only made 10 gizmos a day, and every day you had 40 customers wanting a gizmo...and your production of gizmos was limited while those that wanted them was increasing, would you not raise prices to a point to take advantage of the situation?
  19. The problem is that the King who was brought in to solve the problem has now become more of a problem than the foe he was supposed to fight. Makes me think of the pied piper.
  20. This is true....however consider than many people are after 2 years of not traveling anywhere are sitting on ever growing piles of disposable cash they can not spend. So, pricing , when it returns can consider what the market will bear. Yesterday the was survey that said when the draconian lock downs are lifted by any means, that 80% of the people surveyed said that they intend to go somewhere..anywhere from pent up wants. Now, they will pay any price to get out. With cruises you may they limit passengers resulting in a 50% say decrease in capacity. That very well can translate into "supply and demand. There may be more demand than supply and we may see 40 to 50% fare increases. Don't want to pay that, OK, step aside in the line...there are a lot more behind you to take your place.... You might even see bidding wars for available cabins....like people do in homes.
  21. Well... it sounds like a congressional bill 4000+ pages. Must be a peach of a legal bill.
  22. The market dictates the price.... When it cost's X to run a tour or a cruise or a bubblegum factory you will have to charge X+40% to stay in business. Its pure survival not greed. People have to eat None of the companies is in business as a charity. Severe restrictions and lock down rules etc. will shortly, I believe, give way to the prospect of economy health. You can only loose so much for so long before you go out of business. The vaccine needed is $$$ for the world economy.
  23. Well. not as he sees it...he is adapting to the situation and the narrative of the moment...... ...He has in the past months acquired a an acute sense of acumen in discovering just where his bread is buttered and by who..... Sort of like how dogs become aware of their masters and seek to please them ! The science is Pavlov's.........see there goes another bell. 's
  24. Gave them away for presents... like 4 Kr topaz and .00.. Turned down diamonds 2k for $500 VSI ! The Miki Modo 9 mill opera strand for $300 was a steal.... Wore tux to formal occasions not just cruise... Got a Gives Hawks suit for business wn in London in the 80's and the pound hit $1 parity... loaded up on Burberrys and Turnbull Asser stuff too... In fact I am wearing the Gives today for a function after 40 years is still fits.
  25. Prior to a cruise out of Hong Kong I did have a suit made ( tux) and bought loose gem stones ( no duty and 9mm mm pearls opera..... My customs broker at the time did a lot of work in China and Hong Kong... and got me into a Gem wholesaler... where the jeweler stores bought from Things you would pay for scary low prices like 1/4 of the hong kong store prices ... Was in an unmarked building and inside armed security and bars on the doors All were certified gems... My wife went crazy and bough cut gems like topaz, garnet, etc for $4 a carat !!!! ...
