Many thanks for posting these menus Stan. We recently booked our first Silversea cruise and these menus are making me look forward to it even more.

Thank you for offering to do this Gary, it's kind of you to take the time out of your cruise to help other posters here. I very much enjoyed your post above on the reasons why you book suites. I'm glad that you're enjoying the fruits of your hard work. It sounds well deserved. I will be sailing on the Vista transatlantic in November so would be interested to know who the Cruise Director will be for the crossing. You may recall my recent question on these boards regarding "room service delivered anywhere on the ship". I know you were interested in the answer to that so perhaps you will be able to figure that one out in October 🙏

I don't use American standards because I am European. And I live in a country where smoking indoors was banned years ago, one of the drivers being to protect bar staff from the effects of passive smoking.
-
I was hoping the same when O did the extensive refit on Riviera in 2022. Didn't happen then unfortunately but hopefully next time. I feel bad for the bar staff, being exposed to all that smoke right opposite the bar. I would have thought in the 2020s that O would realise exposing their staff (and guests) to second hand smoke is not a good look.

"Room" service served anywhere on the ship?
Eloise4Ever replied to Eloise4Ever's topic in Oceania Cruises
That's right GrammieK, your post has confirmed this service is available if one has a butler. We are hoping to hear from guests who have been able to avail of this service while sailing in cabins without a butler. -
I'm glad you got to take your twice-postponed cruise, thanks for taking the time to share your experience. I posted this question on another thread from your sailing but got no response, so, as you're from the UK, can you tell me if the ship was lively at night due to the large number of UK guests?

"Room" service served anywhere on the ship?
Eloise4Ever replied to Eloise4Ever's topic in Oceania Cruises
As I said in my original post, this is something I read about this on this forum. Previous posters mentioned it but unfortunately I cannot locate any of those posts by searching. Just to be clear this is not a suggestion from me, but a question about an existing practice, as reported by other posters on this forum. My post was to enquire if it is still a possibility, given all the changes that have happened over recent years. -
Random thoughts from Vista June 3-12, 2025 London to London

Just wondering, with the large number of UK guests onboard, was the ship lively late at night? -
I've heard it said over the years that room service orders can be served anywhere on the ship. I've never tried to do that but would like to try it on my November cruise on Vista. The mezze platter is a favourite of mine but as I prefer to spend my time out and about on the ship rather than in our room if I could have it served on the pool deck, for instance, that would be amazing. I wonder if this is still possible and would love to hear from anybody who might have tried it recently .

Thanks for all that info. You are indeed lucky to have Ryan onboard, he's a great guy and very good at his job.

Thanks for letting me know. I hope it's back by November 🙏. I will be very interested to hear how your special request goes. Do you make the request at the Specialty restaurant reservation desk? -
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience onboard. We've never done an Alaskan cruise but it's on the "To Do" list so will be interested to hear how Riviera does it.

It has been reported on another thread that Dover Sole is back on the menu in Toscana. Can you please confirm it's not on the Toscana menu on Vista? -
We also enjoyed Julie James as CD, shame she's left O. We also think highly of Paul Baya, he has a great sense of humour and puts a lot of effort into trivia. He's not a "loud" CD and is proactive in organising events a little outside the Oceania norm. He's also a fantastic singer and sometimes does a gig in Horizons with the band. We're really hoping he'll be on our Vista transatlantic in November. For us, a good CD makes our cruises much more enjoyable.

⬆️🙌⬆️🙌⬆️🙌⬆️ A very helpful post and a great example of one posters experience which may not chime with policy or the experience of others.

There's nothing like an old movie to soothe the soul and help one forget the state of the world we live in today 😊. The glasses I saw were Martini shaped, just half size.
-
I love the sound of a Nick and Nora glass and will Google it immediately 😀. Yes, the drinks served in the smaller glass we saw were regular Martinis.

You're right and I didn't consider the post from @1985rz1 to be derogatory - apologies to @1985rz1 if it appeared my comment was directed at them. It was another poster who pushed my buttons but I think that's their modus operandi. The "Ignore" button beckons 😊

Thank you Basor, I appreciate your kind post. Indeed, we are all just posting about our own experiences, or at least that's what we should be doing. It's a shame about the one or two posters here who feel the need to denigrate those that don't have the exact same experience as they do.

I don't think you can say "always" unless you cruise Oceania 365 days a year, every year. I posted about what I witnessed on a couple of cruises. It did happen and those that insinuate I am confusing lines or trying to cause trouble are just plain mean, IMO. I don't understand why folks on here are so determined to be right at all costs that they can't entertain the thought of somebody having a different experience. Whenever I post to answer a question from another poster I am trying to be helpful and getting bashed just for relating my experiences is unwarranted and upsetting.

We always have the Prestige beverage package so don't have any personal experience of buying Happy Hour drinks. However, we have been in the company of many folks who do. I noticed on a couple of Riviera sailings that those who ordered Happy Hour Martinis were served in glasses that were half the size of the regular Martini glasses. Therefore negating the "two for one" aspect of Happy Hour! In order to preserve the illusion that normal measures were being served, those of us with the Prestige package were also served in the smaller Martini glasses during Happy Hour. I can't say this happens on every ship but it's something to watch out for.
