  1. Question regarding the welcome emails sent by concierges prior to sailing (if one is sent at all). Do they usually send the email to all people on the reservation? Or just the first person on the res? I'm trying to surprise my husband and my mother-in-law with our first suite, but it just dawned on me that the concierges sometimes send emails out prior to sailing. Any help with this?

  2. It's amazing how diverse everyone's experiences have been.

After reading all of the replies I'm wondering if it would just be best to take our time. I love to be one of the first on the ship out of ports in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale due to their great organization, but don't know if it's worth it here. We get in on a very late flight and I can usually get late checkout at the Sheraton because I'm SPG Gold. I might take advantage, sleep in, take our time and show up around noon. It is vacation after all.

I'm very curious about the Diamond bag drop. Where is this exactly? It's been awhile since I've been to the pier, but I remember a line to the left of the entrance doors, but where is this other drop?

  3. I've read a few times here and there that the boarding process in San Juan for Adventure of the Seas can be chaotic at times. I'm curious to know people's experiences considering we will be sailing in our first Grand Suite. Are they good about calling suite guests onto the ship as priority or is it a pure "free for all" like I've read? Also, is there a separate entrance to the pier for suite guests? Any suggestions as to what time we should get to the pier if we want to take advantage of the suite guest boarding? Whatever advice you can give us would be great!

  4. I hope RCCL has some creepers watching this thread. This, my friends, is another example of why we are thrilled to be heading over to NCL. I am a proud diamond member and we had 4 cruises in our queue on Royal. One cruise on the NCL Getaway this past summer and we canceled all on Royal and rebooked on NCL. It's this garbage that is costing Royal loyal customers.

People are considering bringing their own mattress toppers. I'm laughing at how absurd that even sounds for the price we pay...

  5. We will be sailing in our first Grand Suite this coming February on Adventure. A couple of questions.

First, what perks are not to be missed? I'm aware of pool deck seating, priority check in, dining room menu room service, concierge. Is there a gold card section in the theater? Ice rink (do you still need tix)?

Also we are on the hump GS 1324. Sailing with 3 people in the room. Is there room for 3 chairs at the balcony table?

Finally, torn wether or not to get the drinks package? I understand we have access to the lounge, but how much of a dent would that take off of a drinking bill? We are diamond and have found we still like the package so we are not restricted to certain alcohols, etc.

I want to make sure we get the most out of our first suite experience!

  6. Hello NCL Fans!

So excited for our first cruise on NCL. We've always been loyal to Royal, but are excited to experience the differences NCL has to offer.

Here's my question: We are booked on the Getaway in a balcony GTY. They have already assigned us a midship balcony woohoo! My question for you is has anyone booked a GTY, been assigned a room, and then that assignment changes? I've had it happen on Royal, but was curious as to anyone's experience on NCL.

    Thanks!

  7. We sailed March 28 on Brilliance to Key West and Cozumel. It was one of our first Diamond cruises so we were able to take advantage of the lounge, which was not that crowded at all. We loved being able to have cocktails and appetizers before dinner every night.

The CD on the boat is Clo (Hello Clo) from Ireland. The guy from Fiji was the activities manager. She was friendly and fun.

We also agree with OP that the food was somewhat dry/overcooked in the MDR, and I never complain about food!

What irked me the most was the pool staff. They NEVER enforced chair hog rules. Both sea days we never found a lounger, yet I'd say 2/3 had towels without any other belongings. I like ships that make you accountable for your towels. I can't stand lazy people who just leave their towels even though they are done with their chairs. I get that it's vacation, but c'mon!

  8. The same happened to me on a recent Oasis sailing. They said it is triggered by you clicking on "My Cruises" to login, click on your reservation, and then click the payments tab. This for some reason causes a glitch which adds money to your reservation total, even after being paid in full. They told me to access "my Cruise" through the "Cruise Planner" tab on the home page.

  9. Grow up. You don't know me and how much time I have or don't have. I wonder if you are an apologist for RCI. In my opinion Chops quality has gone down hill the past few years and his exaggeration does not change that.

I'm entitled to my opinion. And, in my opinion, I'm intelligent and experienced enough to know that one can advocate for their product while not making flat out misleading statements. His best on the planet statement is so obviously grossly exaggerated that it very much hurts his credibility, again in my opinion.

If you kike Chops so much, then go have some tater tots and pay $39.00 for the experience.

I know enough about you from the tone of your posts to make the comment I made and I stand firm to it. The CEO may be over the top but so are you. If you're so "grown up" move on to Azamara and save us the attitude and insult while you chew their high quality steak, spit it out and complain about it so I sip to the lack of negativity on my vacation. Cheers!

  10. These boards, this world of cc always makes me chuckle. [emoji57]

Experienced cruisers... Your former glory days of titanic-era elitist cruises are over! Move on to Azamara and save us a gripe-fest! Just because you're diamond plus pinnacle you cruised your whole life and deserve everything for free attitude isn't being satisfied shouldn't mean you should poo poo an incredible ship and staff. After all it's all your freebies, free drinks here, free OBC there, price drop here balcony discount there that creates the need for royal to consistently reevaluate their budget, cut corners and ways to pet the kitties and keep them satisfied.

I am the new face of cruising. I am diamond and I could give two poos about it! I still buy the beverage package (no mixed up drink prices there!) and don't plan to use the lounge. I cruise to get away from it all. To enjoy the hard work of hard-working people and not view them as just the help, rather people who are dedicated to ensuring I have a nice vacation. I don't sit around and gripe about different priced drinks or mediocre food. What are you expecting? If something on land can do it better I think we'd all prefer you to stay on land and keep your bad attitude on land as well! Us young cruisers see this behavior on the ship and laugh. We laugh at you and your terrible attitudes and then high five the bar tenders we've made an actual connection with as you leave with your bad attitude.

I'm headed on Oasis next week for the second time, fourth time on oasis class and each time seems to get better and better. Can't wait for my incredible mediocre vacation to begin and pray to God that there's no whiners to bring us all down!!! Wah Wah Wah Wah Wah.
